Hi all, was just wanting to bump this thread as I have just been given this news today.

NT measurement was a great 1.3mm (exactly the same as my 16 month old DD who is fine). DS risk was 1:620 which is low risk the others were 1:48000 and 1:100000 so no worries there really. Baby looked perfectly fine at the 12 week scan, measured a day ahead of my due date, which I knew for sure as we were trying for this baby.

My MW has told me not to worry and that they will monitor me closely with serial scanning but I'm finding it hard not to worry...

Yeah there is a small risk of miscarriage, with the Dr who did mine he had a MC rate of 1 in 500/600 so it's very low! these days the equipment etc has improved so much the risk of MC is much lower than it use to be. kebakat, great to know that someone around the same age as me went through it and came out the otherside with a healthy wee man.

ooligator, I don't know any of my numbers but again thank you for sharing your story..I guess it is a HUGE numbers game. Best of luck with your pregnancy.

freckle,I have had 2 scans with only 1 day difference in the EDD. Is there, a safe/not safe term for amnio? I have heard that there is also a percentage of a misscarriage risk with amnio. Again I am soooo glad your wee girl is well.

I had normal NT measurement at 1.3, low Papp-A, raised Hcg and I was 35 (36 when giving birth). I opted for the amnio as it stressed me out to much not knowing and results showed no chromosomal abnormalities :) She's now a perfect 9 month old... I am 37 also, and had good measurements on the nuchal scan, but the combined results gave me a risk for downs syndrome of 1:60. My age related risk is 1:150 because of being 37, so the bloods must have increased it, as my nuchal measurement was 1.3mm, well below the threshold.

We were referred to the maternal fetal medicine clinic, and the woman rang up and basically said, "what test do you want done, amnio or CVS", DH and I had decided that we didn't want any further testing, as 1:60 risk is only a 2% chance of baby having downs (it's all a statistical guesstimate, predominantly controlled by my age), and we wouldn't terminate anyway. So because we don't want any further testing, they don't want to see us.

Me!

My scan was fine but my pappa was really low. I went for an extra scan at the hospital done by an ob at 15w. He said I could do an amnio if I really wanted to but he couldn't see any evidence of downs so we didn't go through with that.

Low pappa can lead to low birth weight so I had to have growth scans every 4 weeks in the last trimester but never had any issues. I was told today by my midwife that my Nuchal scan and bloods were low but my PAPP-A were low, I have a specialist appointment in the beginning of January 2012 but my head is truly doing me in.
This is baby#5 and I am 14weeks tomorrow, I am also 37yrs old. Has anyone else in here gone thorugh this and is will to share their story.
