I am seeing MW tomorrow but had a brief chat on the phone with her late last week and she has said they wouldn't make a decision until closer to the due date and will definately be re-scanning me, so thats a relief. But I have come to terms with the idea of a c-s as well, so I'm feeling much happier about whatever needs to happen will happen, I'll trust that the OB will make the right decision whatever that is.

I was told <2cm needs to be a caesar, more than 5 is fine. Between 2 and 5 it depends a bit on the OB and any other risk factors. I'd decided after my 32 wk scan that i'd be demanding a scan just prior to going into theatre if it got that far

You've still got plenty of chances of it moving, but if not, at least you know and you'll get your baby here safely

Actually I think I'll push for it now if they don't recommend it. Even if it means I have to be in hospital rather than at Birthcare I can live with that, just really would prefer a natural delivery because I am a big scaredy cat and want to avoid needles and knives if I can!!

I thought it only needed to be about 2cm. I had a natural, problem free water delivery.

It doesn't mean that you will need a c-section if it doesn't move, but you will prob need to go onto a drip incase something happens during delivery. I had this discussion with my midwife cos I was thinking it would mean c-section as well.

    Author: Dot2012
Subject: 41556
Posted: 13 February 2012 at 12:34pm

So I was told at my 20 week scan that my placenta was low lying, so went back in at 32 weeks to check if it had moved. Although something like 97% of them do move I am unfortunately in the 3% where it is still too low, as it is currently sitting at 1.5cm away from the cervix.

I am not seeing my midwife again until later this week and just wanted to know if anyone else had this? If so, did the placenta move nearer to your due date and were you able to then have a natural birth? How much does it have to move by? Radiologist said 3cm but then I've heard from other sources that even 3cm is too close. I'm also interested to hear from anyone who had to have a c-section as a result. For those who had this happen, at what stage was the outcome known? I guess I'm just trying to get an idea of what the possible outcome could be!

Thanks in advance for any advice
