Congrats ladies on the recent arrivals, hope you are all doing well.

I only have 6weeks to go and cannot believe how quick time has actually flown by since I first posted here.

Am a little nervous but really excited about everything, however feel a little unorganised which I hope to change this weekend by starting to get some things ready encase our little dude decides to arrive early.

JaxxK - Cass was 7lb7 and only went out of NBs at 3 months so you'll be in them for a while!
Cassadee is 16 weeks now, rolling both ways and starting to sit up. It is going way too quick! She is such a wriggler, gets to the top of the cot in about 2 minutes!

Hey Hows everyone doing?? Wish i was still getting emails when new posts came up on here - she was a week late but my baby girl Maia arrived.. born 8th of deccember at 8:49am weighing 8lbs exactly (she likes the number 8 i think) and her birth was amazing (amazingly painful and beautiful and rewarding all at teh same time, proud of myself for keeping with my gut feeling and going natural with no drug pain relief too).
Being up in Ahipara for the last few months not been able to get online though but now we've moved back to Auckland and Maia is almost ready for her first round of immunisation injections, time really does pass too quick with these kids huh?

A delayed happy new year everyone! Been awhile since I've managed to jump on but I have birth to a little boy on the 19th of December. My waters broke at 2:15am and had him 4:15am the next morning, he ended up being delivered by forceps because he had his head thrown back so he was stuck but he's ok now! Weighed in at 7pounds 3ounces at 22days old newborn clothes and nappies still swim on him :)

Yay definitely starting to count down the days now! Ive had extreme swelling for the last month, im glad i finish work on Friday will finally be able to put my feet up. I even got an extreme swollen eyelid two mornings in a row, i had no idea that was even possible!!

Hi Ladies,

Been a long while since I popped in and you all gave me such good advice given I was a newbie first timer.

Congrats on the new arrivals and Rexy for the pos birth advice.

While I am still away off I am enjoying most aspects of being PG, although the heart burn and sore hips while sleeping are certainly taking away from any apparent glow I should have.

Have flown a couple of times and our wee man seems to enjoy the take off's - have a trip to AU for a break in a couple of weeks then a final AKL-WGTN trip in Dec and then I will be grounded.

BabyFergsmum I hear you about the flying I had to fly from welly to auckland for work a couple of times when I was around 22weeks and 25 weeks, I found the landing horrible and the turbulence and then a baby rolling around inside you almost vomited both times.

So this baby is in no hurry to arrive, we had a 41 week scan this morning, still lots of fluid and he/she is in perfect position so hopefully this means something will happen soon. I've just been on holiday and apparently unborn babies don't like flying either. He didn't stop squirming for hours. I even went to the midwife the Saturday before I flew as he had stopped squirming and was getting stabbing pains. If only I had waited until I flew.

Wombles, and Appleseed if you're still around, you've probably got your little bubbas by now, looking forward to hearing the gender and how it went.

Ladies - I meant to say, things to buy before birth - a big bag of salt or epsom salts, its fantastic in the bath for healing any tears. Granny panties - cheapies, and probably black, you'll go through a lot with the bleeding in the first few days, and paw paw lotion or lanolin for your nipples.

Also, even if things don't go to plan, either in labour or afterwards, its not the end of the world! I've had to start mix feeding due to not getting enough milk, and I was really anti-formula beforehand, but now I'm just happy to have a healthy girl with a full tummy.

I'm putting my birth story up now too, for anyone interested in reading :)

So good to hear everyones news on here again - being MIA from it all for a while really makes you appreciate what you been missing.

The end is near for work - three more shifts to go and then my partner will be back and we will be packing up our stuff and moving North to be by my mum. A bit daunting doing so much change with only 8 weeks left til our due date but ive dealt with worse during this pregnancy on my own - change is good

Wombles - I miss the hiccups! You get so used to feeling them, it becomes a comfort..Not long for you now! Getting any niggles?

Lyds - hope everything goes smoothly. I had a posterior bub and spent so many hours on my hands and knees trying to get her back..no such luck.

JaxxK - yup I'm using nipple shields, only way she'll latch. Doesn't stop the blisters though.

BabyFergsMum - Agreed with the research! You need to know the possibilities, even if they are a bit scary. A birth plan is really only a wish list. Don't take your NB stuff back yet! I was measuring 2 - 3 weeks ahead the whole time (1.5 ahead on scan) and Cass was 7lb7 and fits prem better than some of her newborn stuff. So maybe hold onto it for now :)

Congratulations Rexy, glad you're doing ok now. But ouch I don't like the sounds of those blisters.

People question how I can read birth stories and watch One born every minute. I just tell the its research and preparing myself. My sister just had her bubs and went from having a home water birth to going to hospital to be induced and ended with a C section. It just goes to show you can have all the plans in the world but be prepared for them to not go quite as you wanted them to.

Had our scan yesterday all is well but we look to be having a big baby, dated up to 2 weeks in size past my current week. I'm taking my newborn baby grows back :-) DH was a 9lb6oz'er at 3 weeks early and I wasn't small either.

Hey everyone how you all doing? Congratulations Rexy, and I will be reading your birth story - although maybe after our wee one arrives :) So glad to hear you're both safe and well now although really sorry it was a hard labour.
I am due this weekend so getting a wee bit nervous about labour, but I guess you just gotta go with the flow right? Its just the great unknown (and a little bit of insight from One Born Every Minute haha! ) Baby was posterior but has turned slightly so back is to the right. Still not the best position but I'm doing hands & knees, sleeping on left side, sitting forward on a Swiss ball etc, so will just see what happens.

We had our last antenatal class on monday and picking up car seat tomorrow night, then we are all set for this little one to make it's entrance.

Oh wow, do you have nipple protectors?

So i hadn't felt baby move much over the weekend, i got hold of my MW on Monday and she asked to urgently see me, i met her at the hospital and we ended up going into the birthing unit, she put me on the ECG well around my tummy and monitored babies heart beat for aout 20mins, he's still there and kicking just not so much at the moment! She wanted me to have a scan just to check everything was working ok so i had that today.. Turns out he's good, they can't see any possible issues and he is head down already! The scan lady said he's dating exactly the same date i've always been told which she reckons never happens. Thanks everyone :) Will be writing a birth story sometime soon but I might just put it in the birth story section and anyone who wants to read it, can. Only reason I say that is a lot went wrong in my labour (midwife calls it 'traumatic' though I dont agree) and last thing I want to do is scare anyone!

Hi ladies yes Cassadee arrived on the 24th, weighing 7 pound 7 ounces (3.338kg). My hindwaters broke about 2am, midwife broke the rest at 9am and Cass arrived at 2.39pm :) labour wasn't quite as uneventful as I'd hoped but it was worth it for the beautiful baby fast asleep in her bassinette beside me.
We finally came home this morning, as she wouldn't latch at first and then when we finally got that sorted, I developed a fever and had to have IV antibiotics as the doc thought I might have a uterine infection.

Hi Ladies!

I'm 9 weeks along with our first baby! So exciting! We weren't exactly planning this one, but we're embracing it :-) I'm 32 and have endometriosis so we figure we're pretty lucky to have gotten pregnant!

Mercifully, after about 5-6 weeks of awful morning sickness, it's heaps better now! I found out I was preggy a week before my period was due because the sickness and sensitive nose made me suspicious lol.

So nice to have a forum with others at the same stage :-) I'm looking forward to hearing the heartbeat and having that first scan of our wee one! It will seem real then! younginin I'd ring around the MWs and talk to them and find out about meeting them. I just ended up ringing a few MWs and the one I went with I just talked to her over the phone for 15 or so minutes and then booked and appointment with her, she has clinics. But some will do visits so there is no standard process.
My hubby was more concerned about me feeling comfortable with the mw, he knew if I was happy with her then he would be too.

Rexy some Hawke's Bay sun would be great, I love the Hawke's Bay. Had my first pretty crappy day yesterday. I just had a hair trigger with my partner, he would say something and I would start yelling then burst into tears, then 10 mins later I was fine again. Ladies, if you get told your baby is posterior (back to back), I'm warning you now, get on your hands and knees and get that baby back before they're too big to turn! I've had 2 days of back labour and oh my lord is it torture! Think it was my time on bedrest that did it, so if you end up having to do that, try and spend some time each day on all fours or leaning forward. Posterior labour is not fun, and takes a lot longer!

I have tended just to wake up a number of times throughout the night. I have been a bit restless and my legs would cramp up a lot but i've been taking magnesium for about a week now and legs haven't been cramping up as much. I find if I have have hot shower and wind down read a book then I sleep a lot better.
I now wake up about every hour and have to go to the toilet. I good sleep now is if I don't wake up every hour last night I slept from 3ish right through to 6.

Baby must be getting you prepared JaxxK! I get that too sometimes, usually after getting up to go toilet. I usually just stay in bed and read, or check facebook on my phone or something until I'm sleepy again. Failing that, hot milk :) Are you having big naps during the day? If you are, try reducing them so you're extra tired at night. Hard, I know!

We were looking at a house that was going to auction last Saturday in the end we decided not to bid at the auction because the settlement date was 2 weeks before I'm due and it all seemed to much.

Good news about your MIL, last year my grandma was really ill and the doctors didnt' think she would make it through the weekend but she stuck around for another 6 months I was only gutted she couldn't stick around for longer to meet her first great grand child.

I'm good just taking it one day at a time and only 2 more weeks left at work. Wombles - she seems to be fine now thanks - as my partner says, you can't kill an old weed! Remains to see whether or not she survives her surgery, but no doubt she will. Think we'll be popping up to see the family soon as possible after baby comes, just in case.

I can't wait to be independant again! After 4 weeks of bedrest, I still can't go anywhere by myself because my contractions are so frequent that its unsafe for me to drive or walk by myself. I miss freedom! I hate being so reliant on everyone. Oh well, not long to go and then I'll be going whereever I want, with my little girl in tow :) In between naps and feeds, of course.

Lyds did you get a letter from IRD saying when your payments would start, if you did then you won't need to do anything else, the payments will start on what ever date is stated on your letter.

I guess you mean you've applied for paid parental leave - if you've recieved a letter telling you that its processed and when you'll get paid, thats all you need to do. It is income tested, up to 450 a week.

WFF - you can't apply until you have a birth cert and IRD number for bubs, which takes about 8 weeks. Thats income tested too, here's the payment table. I find it more accurate than the calculator on the website.

Packing my hospital bag is one of my tasks that I need to do this weekend. Had our hospital visit on Monday night so we now know where to go which is a good thing

JacquiDuck it's easy to crave things when there part of a habit your used too, I'm lucky I'm not a big drinker but I crave v energy drink a lot especially when I'm at work and need a pick me up in the afternoon!

Hi all! I'm a first time mum, due 29th March. Last night was the first time I REALLY missed wine - hubby was out at a work do, I had the house to myself, and all I wanted was a glass or two of wine to enjoy while I watched my old movies! I've been missing wine, we have quite a few nice bottles of wine in the cupboard that i'd love to drink esp the reds, also have so really enjoyable port. Today at lunchtime I was walking along the waterfront thinking it was really a great day to sit in the sun and have a couple of G&Ts (gosh I sound like an alcoholic)
Yip I'm looking forward to funny poached eggs, and a very rare steak. Other than that most food I've still been eating.

I'm missing wine! I rarely used to drink more than a glass or two at a time anyway, but now it just smells so good that I just can't let myself have any in case I can't stop! And runny egg yolks, and generally not worrying about what I'm tucking into.

I woke up with a throat infection today so have just been to the drs, I seem to pick them up quite often and drs aren't sure why but guess I'm be back to work tomorrow with no voice to answer phones. Thanks for your comments on MIL, she's a tough thing so hopefully she'll pull through.

I am missing sushi. The home-made stuff just isn't the same. Also V energy drink, and cocktail sausages! Custard squares, camembert (especially my chicken camembert and cranberry panini's) and runny eggs. I'm not much of a drinker so was no trouble with missing that.

Ugh, why did I think it was a good idea to plan a 4th birthday party for when I'm 37 weeks? Least I was clever enough to buy the cake base so all I have to do is ice it.
But on the bright side, I got my first maternity pay today, after living off my savings since I finished work 2 months ago. Wombles - That's really odd I've always known what i want to call a call "Chloe Elizabeth" yet I have no idea on a boys name. I am not even wavering on the girls name I've wanted it for as long as I can remember and have warned my friends I will not speak to them if they pick it
Other ones I like are: Zoe, Amy, Emma, Rachel, Hannah.
I think its scary that you are picking them for the rest of their lives. I always thought could they a) introduce themselves in a bar b) introduce themselves in a workplace.

Rexy: I hope the baby comes soon for you and that your mother in law gets better or at least gets to meet the little one.

PinPan: I barely do work here anyways. I "worked" from home yesterday it was blissful. They are renovating our office and it stank of glue so I pulled the pregnancy card as the fumes wouldn't have been fantastic for bubs.

So today is my 30th b'day and I was woken with breakfast in bed and grape juice, its amazing how little I'm missing alcohol, I'm just far too excited about little "Cecil" (nickname) that I don't miss it.

Just wondered if there is anything that people are truly missing??? Baby still cooking! We've decided she's either going to come on fathers day (which is also my stepsons birthday) or early next week..
My MIL is really sick at the moment, and we have a feeling that if she passes away, that'll be the day this little one comes.

I had the same problem with names - don't worry you have 8 weeks before baby comes and then another 60 days after that to change your mind! Will be great for you to see your Mum again :)

pinpan hope your last week is going well and not going really slowly. I'm getting over work now got 3 1/2 weeks to go it's soooooooo hot in the office this morning it's horrible.
Rexy has your baby decided to arrive yet or is it still cooking.
We went through the list of names we had last night and we've both decided we're not sure with the one's we've decided on. Really struggling with coming up with a possible girls name, so FX this little monkey is a boy, I don't think it helps when I have a feeling we're having a boy (I'm going to be very surprised when this baby arrives and it turns out to be a girl).
Really excited by mum is coming to visit me this weekend, haven't seen her since March.

Ha, Rexy, I'm still *going* to work, but whether it will actually count as *doing* work over the next week I'm not sure... Quite proud of myself for managing to focus and actually achieve some stuff in the last month though!

JaxxK - I'm still drinking it! Just limiting it, like MrsE says. It is just the caffiene, but if you don't mind a hyper baby its ok to have a bit. :)

As for being nervous - not really! Now that I know she's not going to be really prem, I'm feeling pretty cruisy bout the whole thing. I can't wait to meet her, but at the same time, I like my bump and having this little creature inside me that only I can feel. :) I'm actually not at all worried about the birth, I'm so used to having contractions now I reckon I'll be fine.
However, I'm looking forward to being able to bend over again, and see my toes, and not need to pee every fifteen minutes.

People stare at my bump a bit at work because it wriggles so much! Actually, even the midwife was staring today. Five days of work left, woohoo!

Mum sent me awesome onesies from Next - they are so soft and huggable and lurid, I love them. I'm completely oblivious to a lot of things around me so people probably are looking me up and down but have don't really notice.
Had MW appt this morning, I always feel so much better after seeing her feel less stressed out and even a bit excited. We had a brief chat about birth plans and support partners and whe she gets back from hoilday we're going to go through my birth plan.

JaxxK - Yup! Happens to me a lot. Same look I get when they look at me and my stepson, and think he's mine. (He's nearly 4, I'm 21)
I think a lot of it though is just working out if you are pregnant or not, and do they dare ask when you're due.

I got asked the same thing up til about 30 weeks..and hadn't put any weight on. After that it seemed to settle and it just looks like one baby now.

1 born last night was a pretty intense one with the baby being so big. Same thing happened to my SIL, sadly the outcome wasn't so good in her case. Usually its quite nice and calm-ish. But Wombles, I agree, no need to scare yourself!
It sucks when it feels like everyone is telling you off for something, and even though you know they have your best interests at heart, you just want to tell them to buzz off. :)

Woohoo, baby is engaged now, and I'm getting really strong and painful Braxton Hicks. Just got to get past the 36 week mark and then she's welcome to come. Doesn't look like I'll make it to 40 weeks, but thats ok, I don't think I could handle another 4 weeks of bedrest. MrsE78 - I know best thing about that comment is that I haven't even put a gram on. In fact still a kg less than my pre-pregnancy weight yet I'm eating heaps, its just sticking out a bit more than others but we're all different.

I couldn't stay awake to watch 1born ......... last night. I was fast asleep by the time it started and its The block when the other show is on tonight.

Wombles - It is a very interesting programme more so with some of the people who 'star' in it. They def pick a few of the interesting ones :-)
That sucks you're working so hard. I hope those 4.5 weeks go by quickly. Do you have the last Ohbaby magazine, there's a bit in there about sleeping and how to get rid of all the different pains.

No I'm not watching one born every minute, the advert was enough for me and learning about labour at antenatal classes in cringe worthy enough for me.
I'm definetly starting to get over the pregnancy thing and I still have a while to go. Sleep is becoming hard now I'm really tired but just can't sleep and getting really bad leg cramps in bed now. I've become a bit of a zombie at work now. Still have 4.5 weeks of work to go.
