I would go with whatever makes you feel the most confident that you and your baby will get the best care and the care that you need. That will definitely be available at the hospital, but if the maternity hospital says they can do it, it might just come down to finding a great midwife and go with where she births. The midwife can make all the difference in a birth going smoothly, especially if there is likely to be difficulties.

Which is your local hospital? I would ring and find out all the information first, if u havent already. Either from a midwife that delivers there, or ask the centre directly. Like how early will you be able to deliver at the maternity unit- since u have had both babies early. Will they do the antibiotics and vaccinations there? Thanks for replying, no reason not to go back thru auckland other then that it is further away then the local maternity unit.

I think personally i would rather stick with what I know, but my DH thinks it will be less hassle to go to the local one.

Good morning

I am trying to figure out what to do for a midwive this pregnancy. This will be my third and my older 2 were both delivered at Auckland hospital.

Both suffered from IUGR in pregnancy, DS1 was induced at 34 weeks and DS2 at 38. I have been tested for Group B Strep many many times and never test negative, so I will be wanting antibiotics during delivery. I also was born a chronic hep B carrier so the baby will need vaccinating at birth.

My question is should I go back thru Auckland Hosp, or should I just go with my local maternity hospital?
