It's best to know so you can make the changes you need to and get the best care for you and baby.
I got diagnosed at 35/36 weeks and had a normal birth. In saying that I was booked for an induction at 39 + 4 but went into spontaneous labour so avoiding the induction. If it's well controlled (diet) and you're doing OK then they might let you go on your own but you'll see an specialist. It also depends on the size of the baby - GD's tend to have bigger babies. It's a bit riskier with GD so best have all your bases covered for a safe delivery.
Good luck!

Mums with GD will be monitored more closely, but they can go on to have normal full term natural births. Baby will be tested to monitor sugar levels when its born too.

Really shouldn't have had that glass of Coke and a slice of cake before the check-up but that's all in the past.

I'm drinking a lot of water, hoping that helps. I really want to test negative so I can still do water birth but am still a bit worried.

What would you recommend I do to avoid testing positive for it? And would anyone of you know if it's still possible to deliver normally even with gestational diabetes? They make it sound so scary.

Edited by mommycat08
