He figured that since he was awake it was playtime. My midwife advised me to feed him when he woke (using a dim lamp, not room lights), but not to talk to him or make extended eye contact, and if he wouldn't go back to sleep I paced the hallway with him in the dark - no lights. It was tough, but only lasted a week before he got the idea that at night he could wake for a feed, but then it was straight back to bed, no complaining. When he had that figured out he started sleeping for longer stretches at night.

Also ensure you are having a good diet of protein and carbs and drinking water.

I would also ensure you are doing full feeds during the night and not doing small feeds.
I have a new baby too & after suffering a bit with late night cluster feeds in the first week I asked my midwife if she thought there was anything I could be doing & she recommended having a hearty afternoon tea - porridge with nuts & seeds for me!!! - and this made such a difference for us. It meant my milk was still highly nutritious after the evenings activities of making dinner, getting sister to bed etc etc
