Briscoes always seem to have good deals.

I have sunbeam with a blender attachement and it takes up a lot of space it lives in the cupboard I don't use half the attachements for it and it's not a sturdy as I would like it's all plastic and some it is showing signs of wear. Dh got it for me and don't think it was all that cheap.

You can make the dough for pasta in a food processer no different to any other dough. You would need a pasta machine to roll it thin - I haven't seen a food processer with that function.

When it comes to replacing mine I'd prefer one with more basic functions and get a seperate cake mixer instead.

For pesto and mayonaise have you looked at getting a hand held blender for making smaller quantites.

I've been reading a bit more about them and the more I read the more confused I get...

I have once tried making pasta dough by hand and it was a bit of a disaster. Good point about the breadmaker though, I wonder if that would work. I think mine has a jam function too. I have been toying with the idea of getting a food processor too. Just so i can make hummus really though. I didnt think you needed one for pasta, all the cooking shows i see they make it by hand.   Does your breadmaker have a mixing only function? We have got this one and doesn't take much space. It has got a 1100w motor so a powerful motor I wouldn't get anything less 1000 watts. It is on special at Briscoes for $237.99

I've been putting of for ages to by a food processor as I have no idea what to get and I don't really want yet another appliance in my kitchen.
But I think I'd really benefit from having one.

I would like it for things like making pasta dough, hummus, pesto, mayonnaise, ice cream (mixing eggwhite for an eternity...)etc.
I don't bake much (other than bread but I use the breadmaker to mix the dough) so don't really need it for that.

I don't want a massive machine that takes up loads of cupboard space and I don't want to spend a fortune on it (maybe no more than ($300)
