I appreciated seeing an tapping/ EFT practitioner- I found it better than counselling as you don't have to talk & relive everything unless you want to, and its just quicker.... It helped to take away the emotional charge. Check around as some counsellors are probably trained in this these days too...

    Author: eassa
Subject: 42832
Posted: 04 January 2013 at 11:12am

I would strongly recommend seeing a counsellor. You may even want to meet a couple of different ones to find someone who is right for you. Your feelings are not going to go away on their own and from my own personal experience only get bigger with out professional help. You want to be excited about TTC not terrified. You need to be kind to yourself, put yourself first and take care of your emotional self. There is no perfect time to conceive it happens when it happens. When you do you become pregnant, you will want to experience all the joy, excitement and anticipation you felt with your first. Therefore it is important to work through any past tramas, anxieties and depressions before conceiving. Otherwise you may find your pregnancy would be one of worry, fear, anxiety, depression etc.

My son is 1 in two weeks and when I was pregnant I thought i would be trying to conceive again after his first birthday. With counselling I have been able to accept that I need to take care of myself before trying for another baby. My hubby really wants another baby but he accepts that it may take me along time, if ever, for me to want to try another baby. He would rather have a happy healthy wife than the big family we had planned for. Sometimes we need to grieve for the life we imagen we would have before we can appreciate the life we do have.

I really hope this helps you and doesn't sound like I am a know it all. Happy to talk more if you like.

I have been seeing an excellent counsellor who is helping me identify my feelings and separate the 'events' from who I truly am. I have good days and bad days and I know I won't be like this forever. One of the hardest parts is the treatment I have received from people who don't believe PTSD is real. Their 'get over statements' are unhelpful. I also have not been able to find a support group.

Anyone else out there is similar circumstances?
