Even though the 'donor' will not have any foreseeable role in the child's life, are you sure you don't want his name recorded? If nothing else your son or daughter may want to see his name on their birth certificate one day, even if it is just a random name with no person attached. I wouldnt think it was an issue, you would just not put anything under the father section. They should give you the forms to register your baby's birth and order a birth certificate at the hospital/birthing centre, but this (http://www.dia.govt.nz/Services-Births-Deaths-and-Marriages-Births?OpenDocument) has more information for you

Hi all,

Just had a quick question about birth certificates and what not. When I give birth in March of 2013 I was wondering how I will go about doing the birth certificate.

The "donor" is from America and have no contact with him whatsoever, so I will be the only one on the certificate. Can I do this?
