If nothing else your son or daughter may want to see his name on their birth certificate one day, even if it is just a random name with no person attached. I imagine this is a tricky situation for you but you may want to think about how you will answer what I would imagine will be an inevitable question.

They should give you the forms to register your baby's birth and order a birth certificate at the hospital/birthing centre, but this (http://www.dia.govt.nz/Services-Births-Deaths-and-Marriages-Births?OpenDocument) has more information for you

Edited by KLH - 06 December 2012 at 4:32pm

When I give birth in March of 2013 I was wondering how I will go about doing the birth certificate.

The "donor" is from America and have no contact with him whatsoever, so I will be the only one on the certificate. Can I do this?

A bit confused.
