Good luck it sucks how some people cannot conceive and they arent given reasons. My aunty was one of them with unexplained infertility and she only had one baby in the end via 2 attempts at IVF.

Righto next update....
Went back to Specialist on Thursday and am now booked in for a laproscopy + hysteroscopy on 12 December, of course if nothing 'positive' happens next week...Specialist doesn't seem to think i have endo, but said this is the next step before we can go off for any further treatment. Not sure if i am hoping they find some, so then i can 'blame' that for not conceiving again or finding none and not knowing why, except that some people just aren't as fertile as others...
Anyway, hope everyont out there is going ok.
Ginger - I am sure DH will come around to the fertility treatment once he has a better understanding of what happens..good luck.

Wow, theres alot to this concieving isnt there!? I did not know every cycle can have different ovulation times? I thought it would be roughly be the same each month, learn something new every day.

The thing with ovulation is that no 2 months are the same, that also goes for women who ovulate.

The only way to know is with either Ovulation Predictor Kits or temping. To confirm ovulation your temps will typically jump 0.3 degrees due to the increase in the heat producing hormone progesterone. Once that temp stays high for 3 days in a row its confirmed.

OPKS are good coz they can detect when your LH surge is starting. (The hormone surge that gets ovulation happening)

Also look out for fertile Cervical Fluid which is Eggwhite or Watery Fluid. Sperm can survive upto 5 days in this fertile fluid. And it typically happens when you are soon to ovulate or are ovulating.

Kaz I think I might have already mentioned that after my m/c I had a 5 week "cycle" and then 7 weeks... during which I did get preg but it was difficult to estimate when bub would be due (I wasn't charting either). So when I tested at 5 and 6 weeks, I got BFNs both times but had in fact only just conceived at 4 1/2 weeks. okay girlies, i dont know what to do or think

as you know i had my m/c 3 wks ago...well bleeding stopped just over 2 wks ago...all preggy symptoms went and ive been feeling great...

Well for the past 3 days ive had nausea all day....need to pee heaps...my boobs are so sore ive actually had to move up a bra size...and im hungry all the time....

Hi Mellybelly!

I had my surgery in Sept. They won't operate if there is *any* chance at all you are pregnant -so when your next period starts, just make sure that use protection so that you can have the surgery asap. It's worth it to get the surgery out the way sooner - it takes a little while for your body to settle down afterwards. Yeah it has been a long time since i posted anything - we are now settled back into life in NZ and thought i should catch up with whats happening on here. still no luck here - went to OB/GYN appoint at end of september, looking into laproscopic surgery but won't happen now till early december, have next appointment in two weeks to book in for it. I just go to the midwifery clinic in Palmy Nth and ask for a couple of tests, and they give them out no questions asked!

Hope things settle quickly for you Kazzle, sounds miserable I know what you mean about "roll on AF".

I read a story in Thats Life a couple of years ago about how someone who had trouble getting pregnant added up what she spend on tests and decided to see if she could source them somewhere else. She gets them from Canada I think and sells them for AUD2.00. I ordered about 20 I think and found them really good....when I did get the faint line I then bought an expensive one to test as I wanted to get them. These are just plain think sticks...no fancy plastic on them and basic wrapping

My DH used to import the Ovulation test kits...they cost him less than $1 each but they were sold in Pharmacy for heaps more.....the mark up is amazing.

Hehe Kazzle ...I have a funny little story for you! Well, not that funny, but I feel like I've gotten one up on the pg test people after all the money I've spent on test in teh last 18 months ...

At the end of my last cycle, on the day AF was due, I got DH to go and buy me a test, and of course, the tests are packaged in cellophane. Well, DH not having a clue picked one up (a pack of 2 tests), but 2 boxes stuck together, and stayed stuck together right through the check out! So, when I got home, I grabbed the test boxes, separated them and said to DH "Why did you get 2? Hi ladies, just lurking around here. I was talking to my Naturopath friend yesterday about fertility etc and she has heard some great things about a clinic in Mt Eden, here is there webpage address.

OK ...story time!

Someone I know who is also struggling with endo-related infertility told me that while we're going through all this, we have to make sure we treat ourselves - little things to look forward to. So, I do treat myself - I give myself little stepping stones to get me from one week or fortnight to the next, and through the end of one cycle and the beginning of another.

I'm very aware though that Christmas is coming, and we're so aware of how long we've been TTC ...SO, the other day, I bought U2 tickets!! It's sort of a big 'throw your hands in the air' for me (plus I've never been to a concert and I'm looking forward to the experience so much!). I got the tickets off Trademe, and only paid the cost of the ticket, booking fee, and the auction success fee (in other words - didn't get scalped!) AND the reason that the couple I bought them from couldn't go was because they are now more than 8 months pg ...as silly as it is, I thought it was quite poetic. I also paid an extra $10.00 for her to buy something for baby just to show my appreciation ...I'm *such* a sap But also, considering what some tickets are going for, I'm amazed they didn't put a higher price on them.

Oooo...yes! "It'll happen when it happens" and my personal favourite, after my miscarriages "At least you know that you can get pregnant" ...I lost count how many times I heard that. It doesn't matter a damn if you can get pregnant but you can't grow a baby ...and 18 months on, well. I'm glad others feel sometimes like they could strangle the people around them. I know they mean well, but in all honesty, most just do not understand. I absolutely hate the random vague "it'll happen when its meant to" type comments. Those used to get me so mad! "It obviously wasn't meant to be this time" WHAT??? What on earth does that mean- absolutely nothing! My Mum used to say it every time I got AF. Kazzle - I had the same thing with both of my m/cs. I felt completely bizzare for the month afterwards (and it's quite normal for me to be rushing to the loo thinking AF is here for about the last week or so of my cycle), and my 'pg' symptoms kept up for a good couple of weeks after the m/cs ...and mine were early failed implantation m/cs too, so I can just imagine how you're feeling. The other thing is that if your m/c cycle was 7 weeks, you were a couple of weeks OD for AF, and it's been a couple of weeks, your body is probably preparing for another AF ...and is perhaps a bit 'creaky' after the trauma, hence the increased awareness/heightened feeling of AF arriving. Does that make sense?

Newmum - I'm very sorry about your BFN It's so disappointing, waiting and hoping and nada!! And I don't know about you, but if I hear "Well, you can have fun trying" even *one* more time ...

When I miscarried at 9 weeks, I still had morning sickness, sore boobs etc. for at least 2 weeks after the D & C. That sucks!!!

Uh huh! Trust me, there are days when giving up is about all you can do to stay sane in our household!

It's like the husband's idea of cleaning up if he makes a foody mess on the floor ...he just calls "Dogs!!" and apparently, it's done. When my niece was staying, while I wasn't looking (he thought) he cleaned up the high chair by putting the tray on the floor ...

I'm going to have to watch him like a *hawk* !

It's a bit like practice for kids really ...

The thing is, I can *hear* the can being squirted (or whatever it is that those cans do!), both dogs are barking their heads off, running up and down the hallway with the husband in pursuit, landing on beds, scooting under beds, running into walls, and then coming back covered in the stuff (the dogs), then the husband calmly goes back to finishing making his desert, but *insists* that he was *not* chasing the dogs with the whipped cream ...

Argh, I know! It's a disaster

My two are the same ...though I think they probably create more chaos than an *actual* baby! ...There's nothing like having two extremely active and intelligent dogs running around at 100 miles an hour 24/7/365 to un-do all the housework!

I'm heading home soon and my internet connection there is worse than here, so have a good weekend and by the time we're back at work on Monday, it'll only be 3 weeks until your egg harvest!!

Good grief! Sounds like between you and the dog the house could end up multi-coloured!

We have a boxer x doggie. She is named Brody (I know, it's a boys name, but she doesn't mind!). She is 9 1/2 years old and we've had her since she was 7 weeks old. She goes EVERYWHERE with me - to work, to friends houses, away camping. She didn't come to Thailand (ha, ha!) but that's about it! When we go overseas I get my Mum to come to our house and babysit.

Rubbish day is funny ...every now and again, depending on the weather and whether the poo in the bag has cooked or not ...I Hear "Bleeeuurrgghhhh" while DH puts the bags out ...he comes inside again and I say "Everything ok?" and he gives me a blank look and says "Yep! Rubbish is out!" ...luckily there is a drain by where we keep the rubbish bin ...

What sort of dog do you have?

We were painting labour weekend and last weekend, and basically, while it was OK to work, I let the housework go completely ...the place looks like a tip! Anyway, I've been looking at this big streak of dirt on the leather lounge suite, courtesy of our border collie who leaves dirt aaalllll over the place, thinking I really must wash the couch down. Anyway, last night the husband and I are sitting on the opposite couch and he says "You know that dirt ..." and I said "Mmmmm ... I've got to wash the couch down" and he says "In this light it doesn't look like dirt", and I said "Huh?". He says "It looks kind of greenish ..." AAARRGGHHH!! We'd painted our hallway an antique green, and our collie had curled up a few times against wet paint when we'd not been looking and gotten herself covered in it ...and had WIPED IT OFF ON THE LOUNGE SUITE!!

I won't repeat my next comment, obviously ...but hell. A lot worse is going to happen with children! It just means the couch goes really well with the big (bright red!) paint splodge on the carpet, where the Ginger Genius was holding a paint sample pot and saying "These things are really hard to open ...it'd be so easy to bobble one when you open it. I should put a drop sheet down before I do this ..." and then plop with the open pot on the carpet ...

Apparently with the paint though (on the couch) - olive oil, vinegar, or sugar soap may do the trick. I know exactly what you mean about feeling like you are doing something - I feel the same way when I down those herbs twice a day. It's like we were talking about yesterday - whatever it takes! I feel really useless not being able to conceive, so if I'm doing something, even a little something, I don't feel so useless

Poor DH ...mine is great with blood and stuff, but dreadful with the animals, and it's taken years to get him to an ok-ish point. He still can't clean up if one of the animals has been sick (we have 2 dogs and a cat). My DH has a few 'issues' when it comes to needles and the sight of blood. He passes out.

So I have to be brave and do it myself! Actually, it doesn't really bother me at all, in fact (I know you'll think I'm strange) I look forward to it as I feel like I'm doing something to actively help my situation. Funny how the mind works!

Sorry to hear that AF is so horrible Ginger sounds like you could do with tucking up in bed for a few days until she leaves!

Ha Lou! Lets hope so ...if for no other reason than AF is *hideous* since the surgery! By the time I got home last night I was running a temperature and vomiting. Erg!

As for DH - I think you can theorise to your hearts content, but when you're staring down the barrel of a shot gun, perspective changes! At the moment, the thought of IVF is unreal to him, and it's easy to say 'never' if you think that it'll never happen. I'm a glass half empty sort myself ...I like to know what I'm in for and think through all the eventualities!

I was thinking of you this morning while I was having my breakfast, and thinking that you were probably at home stabbing yourself at that very moment ... Yeck - needles!

You're doing better than a friend of mine - she is an ICU nurse, and she can't bring herself to do it! She's making DH do it instead! Poor DH!!

Mind you ...I whipped my DH's ass at Monopoly last night - he'd probably have been quite happy to stick me with a needle after that if we were IVFing! Well it sounds like your DH has put a lot of thought into it. I can understand his point of view. However, I have a new view on life and that is not to overthink anything, as I used to have all these theories that have now been thrown out the window. As you say, he may change his mind depending on how your situation progresses. I guess when it comes to the crunch, he may change his mind, or his feelings may be a little different ....here's hoping anyway! I was surprised when we talked about it a few days ago, as IVF has come up a few times. But, the boy is one who thinks and thinks and thinks, and *then* says his piece. He'd not have mentioned a thing until he felt he could express his thoughts in a way that I could see his point of view.

His reasoning - there is somthing wrong with me, in that I have endo, and there is something wrong with him in that aspects of his fertility are doubtful. As much as he wants children, he said that he feels that it's a situation where bad genetics are being carried forward.

He has a point ...I just don't like it! I think we'd give it more thought if the reality was right in front of us ...I told him that my endo wouldn't necessarily be carried onto my children, and if we conceived, the swimmer would've been a goodie, so wouldn't necessarily carry his doubtful fertility with it. And, it's not like it's that doubtful - the specialist didn't think it was worth the bother to re-test and she was confident that we'd fall pregnant.

Hopefully you'll have your August baby! Would your DH not even do a publicly funded IVF? My DH was fine with doing a publicly funded IVF but I didn't think he'd be keen to pay for private. However he surprised me and didn't put up any resistance at all.
If this IVF cycle works I think I would be due in August '07. August is my birthday and I will be 34 in '07. It's funny, I went to a psychic about 2 years ago and as soon as I walked in she said 'you will have your longed for baby before you turn 34'!!

So this would be the last chance for me to fulfill her 'vision'!! Here's hoping...

I know what you mean about the hope/fear thing - especially when we've been around as long as we have. Plus, the husband has told me that he doesn't want to do IVF, so I know my options and time (with endo) are limited. I can feel the clock ticking!

Still - with the due in June thread chocka, there's be plenty of room for us in July

In the meantime I just have to get through this AF ... If it wasn't for the infertility I'd be wishing I'd never had the surgery. I still count Ginger, he, he! I hope you are right and that the IVF is successful, but unfortunately there are no guarantees

I started my buserilin injections today, I have to inject myself in the stomach everyday which is a bit of a treat Still, it's not that bad, not painful or anything, just a little strange. It will all be worth it if it is successful !

Before when we were TTC I thought about it quite a bit, but not all the time. Now I obsess about it night and day! Because of my recent mc the doctor has advised that i have one AF before we start trying again...so we will be TTC from the end of November.

We were all ready to go this month, taking my folic tablets and multi vitamins etc. But now hubby has a job offer overseas which we are mulling over, so baby plans have been put on hold.

We did do some BDing before the job offer came thru though, but the sensible side of me knows that falling preggers from that would be highly unlikely!!

Coming up to the 5 cycle....I think. My periods have been quite irregular since coming off the pill. Ive had a couple of really short cycles (the last one being 16 days..go figure) so I'm not really sure what is going on there.
