I could be wrong here but from what Ive read/been told/experienced if its taking that long to toilet train then they probably arent ready. I know with kobe i tried him about 3 months ago cos he started saying he wanted to go on the toilet and we werent going to discourage him but in all honesty he just wasnt ready and it think it was more a novelty. We left it for a bit and then started again 3 weeks ago when I decided it was warm enough and had enough time to devote to it and it was so much easier. The first week we had a couple of rough days, the second week we had on average one accident a day and the third week we have had no accidents at all and has even started being dry at night (but im not ready to risk no nappies there yet) we stopped nappies and pull ups completely except for sleep cos thats what most of the books i read said to do and its totally worked. Hi Liz, I started Hannah training right after her 2nd birthday too and although I felt like I was the one being trained in the first few weeks, she did finally get it yay! Took about 8 months from start to finish, after someone told me that from her experience (disappointing and long as it sounds) I think I relaxed a little and didn't expect so much to happen all in that first month.

Sounds like you're doing great with the stickers, maybe a bit more reminding? I suffered the same fate Liz... but mine was more that Hannah absolutely refused to go to the toilet when I asked her... and letting her tell me just wasn't happening. Damn independent toddler.

Anyway, she has asked a few times over the last few weeks but like I said in another time, mostly flukes.

Keep on it though! It has to happen sometime!

And Han is a nudey rudey too... found quite a few puddles today. I started Ella when she was Jake's age.. she was doing soo well and we had a sticker chart which she loved, and filled up. BUT.. I discovered I was doing the same as you, asking if she needed to go. If I didn't ask at the right time, she would wet herself, and she never told me she needed to go.. I was the one asking her... so I decided to leave it for a few more months.

We are getting there slowly, and now she will ask to get out of the shower/bath to do wees on the toilet. My mum told me that I would know when she was ready to train as she would start asking me to go, instead of the other way around. After being all smug about Jake going to the toilet - and emailing all family (including skiting to my BIL who has two children 4 and 5 who are yet to be ttrained - laziness rather than any disorder), jake has been wetting himself constantly. If I ask him EXACTLY at the right moment, he'll trot off and pee, but if I am five minutes early, he'll jsut pee whereever and move on. Consequently our (new) sofa has several suspicious damp patches, as does the carpet. I'm trying not to make a big deal out of it, justclean it up and remind him gently that he can say "mummy, pee" when he needs to go. Is this ormal, or a sign I've started too soon?
