That does make me feel a lot better.

Yes she gave me Folic acid and also prescribed iodine as well, she was really lovely just not what I expected. I suppose I just have no idea what to expect but that helps a lot! Ill just have to practice a bit of patience. Although I'm sure when Im in the delivery room ill be thinking "where did all the time go?!"

That is probably what the script was for right? And blood test is great. It sounds like your GP did as much as she could.

A lot of MWs wait until you are around the 10 week mark before meeting you and setting you up for bloods, a scan (if you choose the 12w scan) and talking to you.
Of course if you wanted to meet a couple and choose one I would say go right ahead! Ask them if you can have 5-10 mins of their time so you can feel their 'vibe'- you have to be comfortable with them!
As for me, I rang a MW the day I found out I was pregnant, met her the next day and went from there.
Pregnancy is a waiting game! Waiting until the weeks pass by and then waiting for labour to start!
I hope that helped?

My pregnancy wasn't planned but has turned out to be a happy accident and Im very excited. I dont, however, know the first thing about being pregnant or what I should do next.

I have been to my GP who talked very fast, wrote me a script and sent me for a blood test along with a long list of midwives to call. She wasn't really a lot of help.

Ive also contacted a couple of midwives (My GP advised me to call them immediately or asap) only one has called me back so far and she advised me she doesnt need to see me until 10 weeks and to call her back then.

Am I right then in thinking that I dont need to do anything until 10 weeks? I feel quite uneasy about everything but my GP just referred me and my questions to a midwife who said she couldnt see me until 10 weeks?

Im 22 and have told my partner & mum only (I live in Wellington, She lives 4 hours away). She isnt much help as back when she had me things seemed to be a bit different and my partner is just as lost as me.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Edited by Michelle_T07 - 07 August 2013 at 5:20am
