Not sure epic! With mine they'd do bloods and when they detected the rise starting I'd go in the next day. But not sure if that was second day of surge. Hi epic, they'll give you the smiley face ov prediction kits again and most clinics tell you to call when you get a smiley face and they book you in for your iui that day. Because the lh surge is over 2 days, I went for the iui on the 2nd smiley face day. I timed my iui for 30 hours after my first smiley face, even if egg was released it still has to travel down so swimmers can still meet the egg. Just my theory for cases with low sperm, im no expert though! In other countries iuis are down 36 hours after first surge so I kinda based my thoughts on that. It might have been coincidence but I had heaps of failed iuis on day 1 surge and 2 successful ones on day 2.
Hope that makes sense!
Oh just a side note, I never told the clinic it was my second surge day, I just pretended it was my first as I didn't want them to think I was second guessing their job!

Hi epic, nice to have some more people in here (well nice for the company, sh*t you need to be here). That sounds like a really hard decision on what to do. My husband has zero sperm and we have discovered he has a genetic thing going on which accounts for that so they won't even try and suck them out with a needle so we have to use donor sperm which is from frozen. We are on the waiting list for donor sperm and at the moment they said it's about 3 months (but 12-18 months for single women or lesbian couples) and costs about $2.2-$2.5k a pop.

Hi epictraveller, hope you dont mind me sharing my recent experience - we just got pregnant with iui (due in dec) with 2million sperm through FA in chch. There is the option of producing 2 samples from your husband/partner on the iui day and they add them together. Something I have found really helpful was that I went in for iui on the 2nd surge day at midday, I didn't for 5 failed iuis (went in on 1st surge day but i reckon we missed egg cos by the time it was actually released the low motility swimmers had lost their puff!) for the 2 that worked I did. Epic - IUI isn't an option with low sperm count I'm afraid - they need a 5 million + count. If you want to use donor sperm then you can go IUI. That's why we jumped straight from clomid to private IVM.

One thought though - why can't they keep freezing samples and combine them to get enough all up?

Hey I'm just jumping in here, BC knows me but for the rest of you, I'm two days away from a very likely negative blood test from our second IVF, so we are at the end of our publicly funded road. I have PCOS although plenty of eggs and ovulate ok on clomid but don't respond very well to IVF meds. DH has low sperm count/motility, under a million, although we know for a fact it has been higher as one count put him at about 25 mill. We're now faced with trying to work out what to do next, we have a private IVF cycle booked in October but the way I am feeling now I don't want to pay $10k for a cycle that produces one embryo which is all I've gotten out of the last two. I had wondered about IUI, how is this going to work for you Batmobile with your DH's low count? Feeling pretty good. Levels are rising well. Feel a bit yuck if I get too hungry and a lil tired but otherwise all is well. I'm just waiting on AF to start my next cycle should be in te next few days but to be honest I'm struggling big time with the thought of doing it all again and getting a BFN. How's things with you Jacq?
We saw fertility associates today and the dr said there was a three month wait for sperm donors! I was quite shocked and expected it to be longer. Of course I had just booked a week away with my sister for next year so we will prob put it off a few months if the wait is only 3 months, I still don't quite have my head around donor sperm so not quite ready to take that leap. Otherwise everything good for us, I have really good egg stores so fingers crossed unmedicated IUI is all we need! Definitely a good call having your wedding and trip to look forward to. Hopefully there'll be more to celebrate but at least you've got something else to concentrate on as well. We haven't really put anything off but I feel in a holding pattern at work not really enjoying the job or trying to progress because I was hoping I wouldn't be there by now. I've also given up all my sport (I usually play netball and soccer) so that I could maintain a slightly higher weight. Got so much time to think now, I really need to get a new hobby! Oh well at least it's the weekend :)

How hard is it not to get your hopes up though? I didn't test at home I kinda wish I did. Last cycle I was convinced it was going to work to the point if put off the wedding, cancelled a trip and planned my whole life around the "due date" this time the weddings in October, off away straight after I'm thinking it will give me something lovely to focus on if it doesn't work or just a extra thing to celebrate if it does? Oh I'm glad you've sorted it bat- going through this process there is so much waiting you don't want to be doing it when it's not nessacary. When's your appointment? Hope you get all the info you need and fingers crossed for funding.

Have you got an appointment set with FA now Bat? Hope so, that sucks that you wait all that time for nothing.

So, I had a very small amount of spotting today when I went for a wee (twice), which I never get. Thought I was doing really well not really thinking about waiting for the blood test next Fri etc (mostly because I feel like nothing has happened) but now I'm thinking that maybe the spotting was implantation bleeding. Fingers crossed bit I think it's going to make the wait harder!

Fantastic!! You feeling good about it this time round hun? It's such a emotional process i dot know why I'm so keen to do it all again, sometimes I worry I'm nuts, empty the savings and doing it so close to the wedding? I'm sure I lost half my mind first round??

Morning girls,

Glad you told your boss Jacq, I think it makes it easier. I really wanted to not tell mine but in the end I had to because I had a course that I wanted to pull out of as it was going to be around EC so I had to tell her why. She was fine and the up side is that I had yesterday arvo off for FET and didn't have to take annual leave.

All went well yesterday, was so quick and easy I can't really believe it's been done. Unfortunately got a bit of a cold so not ideal timing but I guess that never stopped anyone getting utd!

BC, good luck for ovulation today, not long to go now. Is the FET likely to be on the weekend? Hope the calf's healing well and you've got you DH home to pamper you.

Just another blood for me tomorrow. Le sigh am over the travelling that's for sure and the stress of walking in late to a class of curious 8-9 yr olds. Hopefully tomorrow is the last. Today's scan showed a 21mm follie so surely I must be about to pop?!!.
Dh is home tomorrow so that is what is getting me through.

I put on my big girl pants and I did it :) she was great, she cried, I cried and even offered to pay my wages in advance to help cover the cost very sweet gesture. And time off is now not a problem definitely a weight lifted off my shoulders.

Ouch jacq I'd hate to dislocate anything. I busted my acl into knee and that was flipping painful like the worst I've ever felt. BC- I hope the ankle is heeling and your up n about without to much trouble. I've dislocated my knee a few times wakeboarding recovery made me feel like I was 80!! Hobbling is no fun.

Baby aspirin is for I diagnosed clotting problems stopping conception or causing miscarriage. It's the flavour of the month the moment for preventing pregnancy complications too and seems to work quite well. I personally would take it unless advised by the fert dr.

Hope that calf heals quickly babycrazy, that's the last thing you need now. I'm sure you anti-flam will be out of you system before your transfer. It's hard isn't it always thinking about what you eat/take. I've been trying to be really good and not have takeaways or anything unhealthy. My partner and his friend got takeaways on the weekend and I was good and just made myself something else. Hard though, so easy when you're tired or can't be bothered. Haven't even got to a tww yet!

Yay, Jacq that's great you're trying again soon. Your poor hubby, it's not nice for them either in this situation. Enjoy your month off. It's hard waiting but I think sometimes it does help you get into a better head space. Definitely helped for me as was a complete mess end of last year but a few months of enforced waiting somehow really helped.

FX for funding Bat, you just never know till you see someone.

Had my blood test this morning and all set for transfer on Tues. Start the pessaries tomorrow, oh the joys. It sucks cos you keep second guessing everything you put into your body esp in the tww. Haven't had fertility acupuncture purely because we don't have anyone near here. I had it for another sports injury as a teenage and it helped immensely.

AFM - honestly I have the worst frigging luck out. Has netball training tonight and have done something significant to my calf to the point I can hardly walk and of course it's my driving foot! And I'm home alone. Luckily I managed to drive ok and get myself inside and to bed. So exciting- except after last time I'm going in with eyes wide open. But they are going another retrieval on my hubby to get new sperm they think where they took them from last time they could have been sitting there awhile and a bit past there use by date hence the embies not hatching. So this time they are going deeper for fresh lil swimmers. We have decided to pay for a cycle and it's so amazing how things are moving so quickly compared to a publicly funded cycle. Bat- a client I have had two children at home but because there was a known cause an they hadn't had children together they got funding it might not be the same outcome for you but food for thought 😊

We have two children under 12 in the house so I think that prevents it but haven't had that confirmed by someone who actually knows.
Aw baby crazy it reassures me so much knowing that you guys are going through this too and it's okay. I'll admit I've had some horrible thoughts and it has really made me reassess our relationship. I haven't admitted any of my thoughts to DH as it would break his heart. Why won't you get funding Bat?
It does screw with your mind at first. And I'll be honest when we first went on the list we had to have some pretty hard conversations about it all and at one point dh (who I call DH but we're not married lol) admitted he had thought about breaking up with me because he wasn't sure he could do the donor thing and knew I really wanted a baby. Not the nicest moment in our long relationship. Thankfully he decided he couldn't live without me hehe.
Best thing to do is have that appt and get all those questions you have answered. It might help you make a firm decision.

I also paid for my first appt was keen to get the ball rolling and cause we paid we were in the next week. I haven't had to go down the donor path yet but I can imagine at first it would be hard to get your head around!! But bat welcome back!! Yay for wedding planning Jacq! It is so much fun planning, we recently celebrated our one year anniversary so I def remember the excitement well!

Welcome Sunshine/Hannah, I have found it wonderful to chat to people in a similar situation. Sounds like it has been a scary ride for you and your man! They put the C word on the table for us too but luckily didn't find anything. Exciting for your upcoming transfer! And how awesome you got so many wee embies.

Nothing new to report here, haven't heard from FA, I'm thinking I might just give them a call and have a private consult. There is so much I'm dying to know about donor sperm and I'm making myself a bit crazy thinking about it. DH needing a bit of follow up for a few medical issues we have found along the way so at. The very least it's great we found that out as we wouldn't have known otherwise.

No dates yet but last transfer bloods were day 10 (so Saturday coming) then scan and bloods follow depending on what my levels are doing. Once they've detected ovulation 5 days later they transfer. Good luck with your FET babycrazy, fingers crossed for you. Are you doing a manufactured cycle? I am but was wondering why they automatically did this for me (I didn't even realise), I think next time I'll ask whether I can do a natural cycle (although hopefully I won't have to).

Welcome Hannah, I was the same I found it helpful to read others stories and even though mine ended in tears I love the positivity of others as it gives me hope. We have a meeting with FA tomorrow to see where to from hear. I'm super nervous.
