Birthcare is so much nicer if you ask me, the rooms are nicer (I birthed there so got a private room), the food is better, the midwife attention was a heck of alot better.
If I didn't birth there though I wouldn't go, I couldn't justify the cost of paying to stay there. But it is my first choice of place to go.

Your entitled to 3 nights, I found I was ready to go after 2. The benefit is the midwife-paitent ratio is much higher so they have more time to spend with you. Auckland Hospital was great but they are so busy dealing with sick mums & babies, if all is well with you, you just don't get seen much. So Birthcare is great for the breastfeeding support and basic things like learning how to bath your baby. I hated sharing a room though which unfortunately is the norm unless you birth there, or are prepared to pay to go private.
