I got some of those flashbacks when contemplating my second birth, because I was going to try for VB and of course the worst case scenario would be that it all happened over again!

From what I've heard, and contemplated far down the road, a 2nd c/s is not all that bad because you are well prepared. It's mostly just the initial emotional shock when everything goes out of control, that gets you so down.

A bit scary about your pelvis but I'm glad you've found out now (ie before the next pregnancy). And hope things come right for you, it was a huge experience for you and very frightening but reliving the scary bits only must be even worse.

    Author: Two Blondinis
Subject: 4416
Posted: 11 November 2006 at 10:01am

After I had Caitlin (emergency CS) I was fine with the fact that I didn't get the labour I was expecting (Mum had me and my sis in an hour and didn't get any contractions!) and kept reminding myself that it's not important how she arrived, just that she is safe and healthy etc.

Now, four months later I keep having dreams where I relive parts of the labour, but just the scary bits. Like when my MW told me to get out of the birthing pool as baby was distressed and passing meconium, and when I was back in the birthing suite and lost all of my breath and couldn't push and also the terrified look on DH's face when they said I needed an emergency CS "right now!"

It has obviously effected me more than I had let myself believe.

Also, I went to the Chiro earlier this week and she found that I have a deformed pelvis and that would have probably been the main reason why Caitlin got stuck. So, I will probably need another CS next time (MW said the same re. non-progressing 2nd stage of labour).

Thanks for listening - just wanted to get this off my chest.
