Well my day just got better and better. I had the babies in the carseats ready to go to the scan when they rang to say I would have to go to Henderson for it because Avondale had a major power cut. All good, but I never thought to pack a bottle for the babies as I didn't expect to be so long. Which sounds like a major pain but - while we were there I breastfed them both! Which was great! Then I breastfed them their 7pm feed and again at 7 am this morning (bottles at 10pm and 3am coz it's quicker!) so it looks like they are going to feed well after all! Mercedes looked so milk drunk!

Then I had my scan and everything is all clear, the last of the membranes must have come away on Thurs so thank God I never got infection.

So all around a good day!

OK so the whole postnatal thing has beena comedy of errors for us - first cracked nipples, then a staph infection in my nipples, retained placenta (yuck!) not to mention our little trip to Starship and the joys of reflux.

But my GP just rang to say that Mercedes RAST test for milk and soy allergy has come back negative. I am so pleased! It doesn't mean that she isn't allergic as the test isn't 100% reliable till after 1 year, but it does mean that the exposure thru my breastmilk hasn't triggered an allergy (yet). So if I stay dairy free there is a chance that she may not develop an allergy.
