And when I checked out the mum-being-a-carrier theory with my Doctor's office, I was told that the only way seemed to be if they had touched a spot and not washed properly after. So I would say Janine's work will not be a prob at all.

I didn't get much sleep cos every time she turned or one of us moved she'd wake and start the inconsolable screaming again. argh. thankfully once mike went to work she slept a bit - i left her till 10am cos there was no damn way i was waking her.

She is currently sitting in the lounge on the two old cot matresses, with pillows etc, watching elmo in grouchland.

From changing Ayja's nappy early this arvo, to when i bathed her this evening i was like WHOA!!! couldn't beleive how fast they are popping up, and still coming - she is starting to get clingy and grumpy this evening - i could hardly cook dinner cos she wanted to cling to me the whole time.

Ayja's are far worse than Paris's so maybe the immune system has something to do with it, ie older or younger. but who knows. depends on the kid.

here's hoping your girls cope ok, go to the doc and make sure, and you can get the pinetarsol and calamine while you're there too.

A few of PAris's have scarred, she has about 3 scars on her face, one on the end of her nose, one next to her eyebrow and one round the side.

I'm a bit more worried about ayja's ones scarring cos she has them coming up on top of one another or right next to each other, so once they scab it's going to be very tight and itchy for her.

She is one big red blister.

    Author: mum2paris
Subject: 4538
Posted: 20 November 2006 at 4:54pm

See now that is interesting Becks - i watched that conversation with interest about that a few weeks ago. Because we wear different clothes, and take the precautions of continuous washing of our hands, unless it is specifically US, that has comething contagious - ie running nose, conjunctivitis, d&V, or cold sore etc.. then we are ok to go to work. I double checked when Paris got the chicken pox - no one has ever said anything about being carriers and all that, EVER, so i found it really interesting that there were doctors advising people to stay away from other people and all that - however i have no idea about preggy women and all the guff that goes with that side of things really - so maybe it was just a little extra precaution on the doctor's side of things.

As far as i know, i have always thought that carriers were those that can pass on the disease, without having had an active form - which i suppose might be true of parents of the kids as if we have had them before then we wouldn't get an active form, but mostly it is all spread by close contact and by droplet infection IE contact with secretions from the infected person - (you know how most kids get runny noses, sneezy, coughing in the few days leading up to getting these sorta things.. and they sneeze or cough everywhere.. contact with the droplets can cause infection) so i guess as i said before - when i go to work, i don't wear my normal clothes, even shoes are different, hair is tied up, and hands are washed carefully - so chances of having any dropletty thingies on me to pass on is very remote.

Edited by mum2paris

Funny thing is when I was pregnant I wished she'd get them so we could get it over with but for all the times she was in contact with it she still couldn't catch them. So Murphy's law says she'll get it now and give it to the babies and happy, happy days...

Andrew seems to have escaped from them this time. No spots have appeared at all and it has ben over the 14 days since the first case was found at his daycare.

How does it work for you being at work? As I have found out if the kids have them then we (parents) are carriers, as we have had them before. And in your line of work it must be hard.

Edited by mummy_becks
