he he, my little sis is crazy, she is with Bailey's dad, who i do not think is a great influence on her considering he got arrested 3 times in a week for missing PD, so was asked to leave their housing complex.. so carrie gave up a perfectly good place cos she decided if he left then so would she. They lived in a car for a while, and now are living with someone else, till the other day had not seen her in over 5 months which didn't really worry me too much. I mean i feel bad for her, i wsh she would get her life together but have stopped trying to help cos it's bascially like putting a sticking plaster on a gun-shot wound.. it aint gonna do a thing. Saw her in the supermarket and she is a mess, her hips are playing up again and she hobbles (mike reckons sleeping in cars won't have helped that) but she's off to the docs to go on the list for a hip replacement now.. which they will have to do every 10 years and can only do 3 times as she is so young. Oh I might as well put my 2c worth.....I think my brother is a BUM!!

he really really is!! He is 21 but has a brain and attitude of a 2 year old!!! Arrrggggg. And my Mum and Dad always lets him get away with every thing...I on the other hand was not allowed to do any thing....arrrggg arrrgggg. I always tell them that they treated us differently and that is not fair!! My mums reply to that is.."yes but look how much better you have turned out to be"...blah blah.

I told my hubby that no matter if our next child is a boy or girl....we will treat them exactly the same way!! he agreed but I know that he will shelter Zaara because she is a girl...arrggg I hate that. Just like you Amber my husband is 30 going on 75.

My little brother has a big attitude... but then I think I did at that age too, so I seriously hope he grows out of it! Oh no!!! I hope my bro is a bit wiser as he has a good electrician apprenticeship (whoops!! SP???) and is cleaner than hubby!! lol but yeah the attitude is the problem!!! and i guess it might be short lived as my hubby has always been very stern on his lil bro!! and has given him many a punch in the noses for talking to his mother out of line!! AMber we had DHs little sister live with us for a few months when she decided not to go back for seventh form but didnt have a job - it was pretty much hell and was so glad when she finally moved out. I ended up teaching her how to cook and clean and write a CV etc etc and left me wondering what her mum taught her? hehehe rant away!! im only 23 and havnt lived with my sis for many years!! as we didnt get along!! so she moved in with her partner. The only time we ever got along was when she was pregnant but when i got pregnant at 20 (she got pregnant at 22) it all went back to crap cos she thought i was ruining my life and here we are today!! lol..starting off small by going for walks togther once a week...but your doing really well by living with your sister!!!
My hubby is making his lil bro move in with us soon (lil bro is 16) so he can nock some of the attitude out of him as he is an Ass to their folks but hes good around me cos im the big nasty sister inlaw who has been on his Ass since he was a little fat 9 year old! lol

Well... I think despite our yelling fit (where we were both essentially arguing the same thing ), we have both taken each other into consideration and I have been careful about the gate. I refuse to take full responsibility for it (which I don't think she was expecting me to do anyway ) but I think Jute understands that it is unreasonable of her to expect Hannah to stop touching it. If I were two I'd be in there too!!!

And Jute did a big clean up of the house, and we've had several peace offerings in the form of cups of tea... so maybe I'll get a couple of weeks before the next big fight

I think I was saying in another post, a lot of people have completely unrealistic expectations of what children can and will do at certain ages. At this stage. hannah (and Jake) are experimenting...apparently with your sisters makeup! (hannah - not Jake - although he does have pretty painted toenails at the mo). I don't believe in putting EVERYTHING up as I want Jake and Taine to learn "no means no", HOWEVER if it is an issue of safety, then I'll do something. Eg.1 Jake taught Taine how to open the window that we have at ground level. Taine opens it and falls out. rather than saying "no taine' I got a latch for it. ...and told him no. It sounds like your sister is just being unrealistic in what she expects Hannah to be able to do at this stage.   She probably looks at her room and thinks "wooooo, shiney things". get her a big lockable makeup case for xmas.

Poor you, Nikki! That is what happens when you live with a toddler. Non child people have such high and mighty ideas about those things. I remember, myeslf, saying when i was preg with fatty "i'm not putting anything away, baby will just have to learn not to touch"... EVIL LAUGH some mothers must have had when I popped out witht that gem. I went to a linen party the other day at my friend's place, and fatty was the oldest there by about 15 months, all the other mums had wee 8 week old bubbas, and fatty is allowed to do as he pleases at myt friends place, she is good witht that, fairly baby proof. I am just refusing to put the gate up. SHE should do that. Especially because they are the ones that accidentally kick it down. If Hannah pulls it down I am more than happy to put it back up... but I refuse to be running around after my little mongrel of a sister protecting her stuff when she takes no measures herself to protect it!!!!

So yeah, you are right Ana. I do my best to keep Han out of Jute's room. I'd never let her play in there! But when I'm in the shower, I can't stop her if Jute has left the gate lying redundant on the floor.

Ok I think your sister should out her stuff away...come on this is a 2 year old, and no matter how much you tell her she will get in there...its her job!! It is a challenge for a two year old to see if she can get to it, specially because she is not allowed!!

And she is sharing a house with you and she is Hannah's Aunt so has some responsibilty toward what is left around the house. Katherine is right what if she eats some of those things??? GOD that would be dangerous!!! Can she live with that guilt??

Talk to her......with out trying to kill her!! and explaine that she needs to be responsible too...and since she is the one who thinks its a problem... that she should move out!!

Nikki would your sister prefer to buy a small lock to go up high on the outside of her door, than bother with the gate? Just a thought...

But I'm sorry to say that she probably won't have any empathy for you/Hannah until she has had a 2yo.... and it seems that will be quite some time away.

Hope things settle down and Hannah starts behaving. I can totally relate -- my MIL is like your sister in that respect. Her house is full of breakables and she doesn't feel the need to child-proof AT ALL. And she wonders why we don't go 'round there now that Emma Rose is crawling!

You have done all that you can and the responsibility is now your sister's, to make sure her stuff is in a safe place where Hannah can't reach it. Not only will Hannah continue to make a mess, what if she happens to ingest some of your sister's expensive lotions and potions? Some of them can smell pretty yummy to a wee lass, and it's your sister's job to make sure her stuff is safe, for her sake AND for Hannah's.

Maybe I should take note of this. Our neighbour has the most hideous little pixie statue/figurine type things at the bottom of her steps. Would be good pay back to smash one of those for her evil little poodle crapping on our path! hehe yeah I do actually, they are evil odd looking things and they are at the bottom of the step from the lounge, really easy to kick over as you walk down, what a shame they just dont seem to want to break.

In the last month or so, Hannah has discovered my sister's make up in her room. She goes in and helps herself atleast once a day. We've all told her off, dragged her out screaming, and I've put her in time out for it many a time. As well as feeling absolutely terrible the times it has happened when Jute didn't know and I've had to tell her... the guilt! Argh!

The other night, after the 600th time that Hannah had got into it, Gaz said to Jute "Perhaps you should move it?" and Jute said "I shouldn't have to - she should just stay out of it" in a really sh*tty voice. I was absolutely bloody fuming. She's 2 years old!!!

Then tonight I realised that when Hannah had got in there this morning, I had forgotten to vacuum up the mess Han had made. Jute got sh*tty at me after I apologised (AGAIN) for Hannah going in there and she made a comment about everyone making sure the gate was up. Now that's fine and dandy... but when it's her room, I expect her to be responsible for her own stuff. I am sick to death about punishing Hannah for something that I consider my sister's fault for being selfish and lazy and refusing to move her make up (or take responsibility for the gate!)

And then Jute had the cheek to say "I've got some really expensive stuff in there." Yes. Yes you do - that's because it is mine!!!!!

I just want Jute to be as conscious about her stuff as I am about mine. My makeup is in my wardrobe on a shelf Hannah can't reach. Ooooo and Jute pulled the "Well, why don't you move out then?" Argh. She can move out. I like this house.

Righto... vent out. Please excuse me, have no one else to whinge to!
