Wow, I think it is pretty brave of you to ask the question "is this normal"(well so to speak). Me and my friend were just talking about this very subject yesterday.
I think as women who have just been through the rigmoral of pregnancy, it is acceptable to believe that our nerves are going to be a lot closer to the surface, especially since you only gave birth 4 months ago. Not every sad moment and unaccountable bout of crying is PND (although you never know). You seem aware that your emotions are pretty close to the surface and are looking for answers, I think if you are worried that it is getting worse then go speak to your GP or LMC. I myself think that if you wanted to term it and describe it. Every woman who has a baby must get a little PND but not every woman can walk alone and find their own peace in mind.

I was thinking preg too lol.

The baby blues I got weren't sad just cried thinking about Jack. I cried for months whenever I saw the tshirt ben was wearing when Jack was born. Pregnant?!?!?! HELL NO! lol

I really don't think it's PND as I don't feel at all depressed and certainly don't have any issues with Caitlin. I'm not sleep deprived either - she's been sleeping through the night (11 hours) for about a month now, and I've been taking a multi vit.

I do have my second period and it is really heavy, but I was teary before I got that. PND can strike anytime within the first year after bubs has been born, and the main difference between PND and "baby blues" is that baby blues are usually within the first two weeks, caused by hormones, and eventually go away ! Make sure you are looking after yourself and you should be fine!

P.S. You aren't preggo again are ya? I've been REALLY weepy and emotional these past few days (actually more like weeks but to a much lesser extent). Yesterday I was sitting in work (been on my own for the past 2 days) and started thinking about Caitlin, then found myself welling up and couldn't stop myself bursting into tears! When I see other people holding her and making her laugh etc, I get really teary too (but not jealous)

There's no real reason for me to be so upset all the time as everything is much better at home (prob with DH pretty much sorted). I'm sure it's nothing too serious like PND, perhaps of a case of delayed baby blues? I had that when I was still in hospital after having her and just couldn't stop crying, but that was happy tears and tiredness mostly.
