OK so I have this "bowling ball" feeling going on at the moment and it hurts to do just about anything. So today getting up to go to the car at the in laws and MIL says this one will be bigger - probably the size of DH (he was 11lb 4). I was like um no this one is lot smaller than Andrew and he was out at this late stage. She turns around and says and you know this how? Hmm lets see I had a scan last Monday and the measurments the dr was getting were showing about 7lb, and plus I have a scan tomorrow when they are going to do all the measurements again. Even my MW thinks this one is going to be around the 7 1/2lbs mark (i'm thinking 8lb) and that just going by her feeling him in there. So I tell her this and she was like well I had that heavy feeling in the last few weeks of the pregnancy with Dh, well yes I am sure most people do get it as the baby is ready to come out . Grr. I have such a bad track record of dating men who have opinionated mothers who don't think about what they're saying before sticking their two cents in.

My MIL asked if we had thought of names and I said 'Yes, if it's a boy I would like to call him Lee, because my fathers name is Lee and my mothers middle name is Lee' (And I can call my baby whatever the hell I like thank you very much, but I didn't say this bit) And do you know what she said??! She said in that 'loud and slow 'you're stupid' voice 'UHH, LEE...LIAM....'. She already has a grandson called Liam. I DON'T CARE. It's not the same name and too bad if she doesn't like it. Then to top it all off she then says 'Don't you want to get away from stupid traditional family names and think of something original? All the men in my family were called John and I think it's terribly boring.' It's not a traditional family name, I just love my parents very much and Lee is a name that is only in my immediate family and I thought it would be a nice idea to involve both of my parents since they are divorced. Then DP said 'Maybe we could just use it as a middle name instead'. And he said this to please her, but since nothing pleases her highness, I think I should have told her to shove it up her ass.

I hated when strangers would come up to my bump, I didnt even like my friends doing it without asking first. It's an invasion of privacy eh.

DF does clean, but sometimes I prefer if he didnt, I end up having to rewash the dishes, remake the bed (Im fussy with my bed) and re clean the bathroom (he jsut spray and wipes I like Jif).

My DH is one of those who lifts a finger mayb once a month (admititly when he does help he does a great job) but 4 the rest of the month he just ignores the mess, unless asking what i did all day (note i am a full time mum who also works part time) until his family comes to visit then he makes me feel completly useless by goin on about how embaressed he is and grumbling that he works 40hr weeks already!


And i no this isnt a comment but what i hated most while pregnant was how people, including total strangers, think your belly is public property!The worst i had was a check out lady actually rubbed my belly!? That scared me so much i froze!

lol, if i left the dishes, DP would complain horribly. he's such a clean freak (unlike me) and if i leave it long enough he will actually start doing stuff (with lots of swearing and grumbling under his breath).

Well my DH has been an angel lately. He seems to have decided that he can actually pull a bit more weight around here and over the last couple of days after he's got home from work and had a bit of time out to himself, he's asked what needs doing. It's sooo helpful given that I'm in the finals of pregnancy #3 and my eldest isn't quite 3yo yet! OK my hubby really enjoyed his take-out dinner and isn't one bit bothered by the state of the house, and hasn't even done his usual whinge about my shopping trip today.

...He's been working outside this evening, and came in, played with Ella, then told me that he came in to get the laundry basket and take care of the laundry when he saw Ella wasn't in her room, and instead kept her entertained for her play-time while I got on with some Christmas stuff.  Aw, man... I can't complain about that!!  Anyway, better pull finger and go do those dishes I suppose

Ooohhh I'd have a mighty rant about that!  Especially with the coffee grounds everywhere, that'd be the crap-flavoured icing on the cake for me.  Dishes are the pet-hate in our house too.  Well, it's just me who hates them with a passion.  Because it's just me who does them.  And the killer is - I can't protest by refusing to do them, because watching them pile up would only bother me, and hubby wouldn't mind at all!  Friggin dishes. 

Anyway, I should go continue with my ever so glamorous day and do my nails before I even contemplate the laundry.  Hmph!

Grr, I hate when my DP messes with my dishes. He expects me to do them all so he doesn't get a say in how I do them. He bought this ridiculously expensive coffee machine that takes at least 45 minutes just to make one coffee, and whenever he makes his ONE coffee (I don't like coffee) he puts everything he's used into the sink on top of anything else that's in there. Usually the coffee machine bits have coffee and milk and crap all over them, so bits of coffee go everywhere. He also does this whenever he uses dishes, he just shoves them in the sink and thinks it's 'helpful' for him to fill everything with water first.   So this means when I go to do the dishes, there are beer cans, mugs, pots, bowls all filled with dirty water stacked precariously on top of each other all over the bench..

Ahhhhh yes it is!  Mine asked me today what I was going to do.  I said I'd go walkies with Ella, clean the house, start on the Christmas baking to take out, needed a haircut, and would hopefully visit a friend who's just had a baby... he said "ahhhh, what a glamorous life you lead" (as I stood there with morning hair in need of cutting, bathrobe that'd been freshly baby-sicked on, bags under my eyes from broken sleep and in a house that really needs cleaning)...

So I did go walkies... right into town where I picked up a couple of cutie clothes for Ella (which I love to do), strolled around a few shops, got my haircut, met my sis at a cafe for lunch, wandered home in the sun.  No meat defrosted for dinner (oh what a pity) and no cleaning done.  Tell me I live a glam life and I'll bugger off and do just that!!

Last night: DP - "So what did you get up to today?"

Me: took Ella into town, let her play in the park a bit, took her to the Christmas shop to see Santa and a few other places, then finished off Christmas shopping (for him) (and all of this in between taking Ella to the toilet every 30 mins, as we're training again). After that, got home, Ella didn't sleep but I still managed to do some housework, and make a nice dinner (crumbed schnitzel, potatoes, broccoli cheese etc)..

Him: I'd love to be able to have a day where I just did whatever I felt like doing, going shopping, playing with Ella etc..

Darn tootin only a male would come out with that one - how'd you spare him the sort of reaction that would show on tomorrow's 6 o'clock news??  Far out I hate how men don't recognise the amount of work that we put into staying home raising kids.  I'm not man-bashing... OK so last night I went out to pick up my Dad from work and left Willie at home with the gremlins. Arrived home to find Mercedes screaming blue murder (as in so distressed I had to b/feed her to settle her) and their useless father was asleep on the couch. So I (quite justifiably I think!) hit the roof.

Cue my Dad:
"It's not really fair to expect Willie to look after the babies, he can't help falling asleep when he's been working hard all day"

My sister (who is not pregnant, doesn't seem 100% sure about pregnant, and then hasn't been able to get pregnant in over a year of casual trying so has given up for the moment) insists on calling any swelling, growing, or fluid retention "fat". So she's glad she doesn't have a "fat" tummy like me (midwives call me little btw) and notes that I can't fit my wedding ring at the moment because my fingers are "fat" etc etc. I think I'm getting used to her remarks, I don't think she'll get it until she's been pregnant herself.

Oh and she is the chubbier one of us. What a pleasant peson! gosh. i feel sorry for her child, because growing up with someone like that will be hard I bet. And poor wee jack - such a lovely wee boy and I don't think he's fat or girlish - what a dumb thing to say!

came home and my MIL had rearranged the kitchen!!!!!!! not just pots ad pans in difernt cupboards - but moved the microwave, jug etc. I was furious and Lewis just doesn't get it. We are living in "their" house -as in belongs to them, but we live there - they live elsewhere. She rearraanged to what she had it before....regardless of the fact that it isn't her stuff! I'm still so angry. i made lewis move it back. she's here now but hasn't commented, i think she realised how pissed I was.

AND she used my washing machine (cool) but didn't read the instructions and put full scoops in - it's a front loader and should have less than half. So she'll kill our filter. Yeah I always got the impression that girls were easier as children and boys easier as teens- of course a complete generalisation! I know there will be lots of exceptions.

Renee- could she be meaning that you are a bit more girly than her daughter? I have some friends who just seem like they would suit girls more than boys and visa versa. Looking back, i would have been nervous, too, If I had heard someone like ME was going to be a parent! Now, I am on all sorts of committees etc, and am awaitng the birth of my PLANNED #2. It definitely made sense. I think to a certain degree, if my own mother had have said it, I probably would still have been angry at first but I would have realised that she knows me a hell of a lot better than my boyfriends mother, and although I do agree, from working in pre-schools and seeing four year old boys! Wow! Some (not all) of them can be really full on, I sort of felt like she was writing me off as a parent before I've even given birth, which coming from my mother would have been slightly better cause she knows me more. Yeah Lu, I think James has more than enough male influence around to compensate for an absent father! Same with Hannah. I just wasn't sure I was going to have that male influence at all... living by myself last year. Luckily now I have Gaz. He's a great man to have - don't have to deal with all the crap that comes with a husband/boyfriend too - I just send him back to my sister! hehehe

that relly gets my goat when people say but hes a boy and needs his father well quess what he has his grandfather and uncles and is in no way underplevedige for not having him

Renee... My mum said the same thing. I took it badly to start with, but now kinda understand what she is talking about after seeing the little boys run around at creche and at my friend's place. I'm so intolerant to their boisterous nature. I guess part of it is that I am not used to it. (And not all boys are like that I know )

Little boys are LOVELY and I would love one if I ever have another child... but I'm glad I got a little girl this time around. I found it hard enough getting used to having a baby, let alone getting used to a male version! (But I think that was more because I am a single mum with no man around... my mum meant that it was better for a fatherless child and for me that I had a girl.) I do agree... though it wouldn't have been the end of the world if Han was a boy. I'd just have a bit more learning to do!

Am I making ANY sense? And this is no way a boy bash. I really wanted a little boy when I was preggo

Went to MILs place for dinner the other night and we were talking about babies and she said that when her daughter was pregnant she had a very vivid dream about two little boys playing together. She now has two little boys. She then went on to say that she hadn't had any such dreams about my baby.   I said to her 'Oh I have a feeling it's going to be a girl' and she says in the MOST condescending voice "Oh I hope so for your sake, it would be a lot easier on you".

WHY? WHY? I don't get it! Her daughter is a wonderful mother to her two boys. Is it because she doesn't think I could possibly measure up? It sucks also because it's not the sort of comment I can be outwardly offended by because I have no idea whether it was backhanded or meant to be offensive or what.

Liz I heard that you're more likely to get buck teeth from thumb-sucking than dummies. Whatever the case, I sucked my thumb every day until 12 yrs and have no problems with my teeth. In laws arrived yesterday...oh dear. I was worried about my BIL - he's fine, but he and his partner walked in bitching about his mum. I couldn't help but laugh (i'm so sadistic)

check out some of these
MIL: (pulls dummy out of 2 month old babies mouth), she doesn't need this, you don't want her to get buck teeth. *baby screams)oh, look she's got wind.

sewriously what is it with older people and wind - every two seconds, "oh he/she's got wind" - rub rub rub.
baby screams becasue they are overtired.

MIL: oh she doesn't like those teats for her bottle (the ones she is quite happily munching away on) - I'll get her some new ones that will be better for her.

MIL: oh, you have to use cloth nappies. I'll buy you some (flat whites that BIL has already said they don't want thank you)

MIL: Babies love to be held (picking baby up after SIL has put bubs into bed and shut the door.

MIL: Oh, you don't want her getting used to being nursed to sleep (after baby has travelled from Aus, then aus to gis and is unsettled with her routine)

the poor things are being driven nuts. so glad it's them not us, but after I put Taine to bed, he was crying. MIL walked in, picks him up and says "you're not tired are you?" Grrrr.

Oh, and last one.
"where's (SIL's name)" as in when she talks to baby about her mother, instead of saying "mummy" or something, she'll use her first name. Get it?

LMAO on the planning thing Leish...I Have had that one too....u know like they got pregnant first time or exactly when they planned for....if i had it my way this would be a sept or Feb baby (well still may be feb....)

The other thing is the stares...like i think she is pregnant but what do i say? Or those people who check out your ankles in case they are swollen...i have skinny (only part of me that is) ankles...so i get "you are going to have swollen ankles..."....ARGH cant win...

Well, yesterday I got offered some lovely rejects from my MILs closet. A hideous hideous hippy outfit made from black velvet stuff that was meant for a 60 year old to wear to a funeral. One of her old aunties had given it to her. To make it worse, the old aunty is a huge lady and the outfit could have been a useful sunshade for a hippo. I said thanks but no thanks and then MIL cheerfully offers 'Oh well, you might not even get back down to that size after the baby anyway'. (I'm a size 16 and haven't put on any weight in 6 weeks now)

BIL - giving birth, most women go in there thinking they'll need some kinda pain relief. if they went in with a more positive attitude, most of them would find they wouldn't need anything at all.

the funny thing is, well not really funny i guess, his partner gave birth a while ago and ended up being in labour for 30 hours and having an epi then a c-section, so I guess he'll have to eat his words now. I remembered another one from when I took Andrew up to my work.

Team Leader: So how much did he weigh when he came out
Me: 8 pound 4
TL: Thats big, you must of been torn or cut
Me: Nope, his weight is in his length, he's a skinny boy (which he still is)
TL: But still thats a big baby
Me: Not for today 8 pound is considered normal
TL: Yeah, but in my day (she is at least 50) thats a big baby

I left pretty much after that comment and didn't take him up again for a long time.

Well, the first thing I had was "you had an epidural? Oh you cheated" (my thread a few weeks ago).

Now that Charlotte is a bit older, I seem to constantly get "did you feed her". Its driving me nuts. (No, I just let her run wild with no nappies or clothes and fend for herself). Yes, I know what they mean but it gets annoying when EVERYONE asks you and even those older people who already have asked before!

When Jack was a week old me sister goes "You look really good, like I did when I was really over weight" not to sound up myself but I was smaller than she was that day.

Another thing my FIL (i'm on a I hate my FIL at the moment so anything he does is annoying) says that really annoys me is "Andrew should not leave the table till he has finished his dinner". OK i'm his mother and if he doesn't want to finish it, he is probably full. But no to him (he was raised in the 50's) he has to finish it first. Andrew is a snacker with his dinner, eat a bit, play eat some more, bath then finish. At this stage I don't mind as he has a cooked lunch at daycare when he is there and if I pick him up late (after 4.30pm) then he has had late snack and doesn't need dinner till late. LoL Kirsten, I had Kiya dressed head to toe in pink - tracksuit, skiivy, socks and shoes. She was 3.5 and didn't have much hair, but still looked like a girl. Yesterday we went visiting a group of people at DH's old work and I had to bite my tongue the WHOLE time! I was thinking of this thread every time someone made a comment.

EVERY SINGLE PERSON said 'is she a good baby?' and I just couldn't find it in myself to say no, she's absolutely horrible etc etc.

We even got a few 'is it a boy or a girl?' HELLO! She was wearing a dress (given it wasn't pink, but it was still a dress)! Even got a 'hey there little man' hahahaha it was pretty darn funny, but DH was quick to correct that and then show the person she was wearing a dress!

The weirdest comment we got was 'do you kiss her bum?' hahahaha!
