yes newborns are very tiring......so DH keeps saying! yeah cos it's hard to snore right through a crying session!!

anyway..charli went through a stage where she would only sleep on me or in bed with me....think it lasted a week and then i got tough on her. hopefully things will settle down soon!

Good luck ladies - keep at it, they say it takes three days to become a new routine and one day to break it, so give the wheat bag thing a try for a couple of days.


I remember how tiring a newborn can be - especially when it doesn't register with DH that you NEED to get dressed! Even if it is the only thing you do "for you" that day. I put Rhyley in his bassinette the other afternoon at 4pm sat with him not making eye contact etc... till he fell asleep till 4.40pm he woke up at 5.30pm so I got a little bit done - more than I would if he was awake. Nothing naughty about that Kez! I still do that if she's having a grumpy afternoon and won't have a nap - lay on the bed with her and have a snooze Great for special bonding too!

Not that this will be much help getting babies back into their own beds but on the nights that "I just couldn't do it anymore" I tucked Anastasia into the crook of my arm and a pillow between Karl & myself and did "the bad thing" and there we slept, and quite soundly too! I don't have trouble during nite its in the afternoon i get nothing done as Rhyley wakes up 5 min later if in his bassinette - tried sleeping him in his bouncer instead - same wakes up.

Great suggestion, I was along the same lines with putting a pillow case that you have used under her and using a hot water bottle to warm her bed before she goes in. we had the same problem with Caitlin.

Try wrapping a worn t-shirt of yours around a warm wheat bag and put that up against her (when she's in her bed) so she thinks she's still being held. Worked for us - good luck!

in her bed that is... jordis has had such a lovely time being held all christmas that she now wont self settle or even go to sleep and stay asleep in her bassinet!! i can only get the one stretch out of her at night in it, other than that she just moans the whole time unless i hold her - she conks out then.
how can i retrain her??? (and i know i am being unrealistic, she is 5 weeks old and who wouldnt want to sleep somewhere warm and comforting as opposed to a boring old bed....)
but i would love to get back to sleep after the 5 am feed, instead of having to turn her leap tad on every 6 minutes until it is time to get up!
