I stopped Jacks zantac at around 7-8 months I think but once his reflux was controlled he was fine. It does greatly depend on the severity of the case and how much damage has been caused, I do believe there are milestones, 3-4 months, 9-12 months and 18month-3 years. There is also the cases that require surgery as well!

If she was on Gaviscon she probably would silent reflux a lot less, but since she has no pain and (it sounds like) it's not a proble, for her then it is probably well under control. Glad to hear the Gaviscon is helping Kels!

Unfortunately Mercedes does have reflux which is a bugger, the paed diagnosed it at 3 weeks after he watched her scream her way thru a feed. The Losec seems to be enough for her, in fact she was so settled a couple of weeks after she started taking it that I wondered if she even had reflux at all and stopped giving her the Losec. Within 2 days she was screaming again so I we have kept it up and will try weaning her off it again in a couple of months when she starts solids.

Alize is now taking the gaviscon out of the bottle without brown sugar. I only give him the 15mls of water needed to make up the gaviscon.

Losec actually stops the part of the tummy that produces the stomach acid so the tummy has no acid in it. This is great because it stops the damage that the reflux makes. Thanks for ideas and support mums. I used the brown sugar method and he took it out of a bottle which is amazing as he is exclusively BF at the moment. His vomiting has settled straight away but he is still having tummy pains.

 Jeszica does the losec settle Ella's tummy? May ask dr for it at 6wk imms.

Emma hoping your girls dont have reflux as I think you have been thru more than your fair share over pass few months. Sending you healthy twin vibes lol.

Sorry to hear your bubs has reflux, Aston has that too, although he has had it bad we are now on the better side of it. We now only use gaviscon, when he was about your bubs age he struggled with it, he hated it and I found it made him worse, then he got colic and the doctor took away the gaviscon and we just used weleda colic powder! That was great then the colic left and the reflux came back, after being on Zantac we now just use gaviscon, 1sachet per 200ml bottle. He does'nt find the taste as bad anymore.I dont have any advice really I guess but that was our experience. www.cryingoverspiltmilk.co.nz has got some good advice on Gaviscon You can give Gaviscon before a feed off a spoon and if bubbah is having over a certain amount (which I think is 230mls?) for over 4.5kgs he can have 2 sachets. It says on the box a max of 6 only per day but I also think you can take up to 10! If you want to make the Gaviscon bottles go down easier you can add vanilla essence, brown sugar or golden syrup to the bottle and cut it down over 2 days... I can find the measurements for that if you are interested. Olivia was just so greatful for the comfortable feeds she didn't notice! We gave it to Lachlan through a dropper syringe thing but not with the dose they mention on the sachet according to Plunket that is fine. Please help. I took Alize to drs today as MW said he has reflux which has been getting worse over the past week. The GP has given me the sachets of Gavison. Now comes the hard part of trying to get gavison into him.
