And in answer to your other question, apart from this and the ocassional hole in the garden he's doing good.

have you tried just ignoring him? i'll ask my sister what you can do as she knows a dog behaviour person.

I'm trying to train our puppy (5 month old golden retriever) that when someone is doing something at his level or is on the floor that he doesn't need to get so involved.

For example if you are trying to put shoe laces on he comes over and either sits on the shoes or gets in the way, he isn't doing it to be a pest, he just wants pats. And if I get down on the floor (for whatever reason) he is equally as intrusive and will sit on me or right in front of my face if I'm lying down..

I want him to realise that he will get pats and attention without having to be so involved and close. I want this to get sorted and have lots of practise before this baby comes along so that he doesn't do anything stupid like sit on it which I can actually imagine him doing lol..

Any ideas on how to stop him?
