He slept all day after imms only up for 30mins at a time for feed, nap change etc. He is showing signs of settling today and the coloxyl drops he is on have kicked in and his motions are alot more softer. His dermitis is well under control with a mixture of aqueous and bepanthen cream. I alternate the cream I apply thru the day. Now Im waiting for him to start giving me his first smiles, as he has been grumpy, sore, vomiting etc.... for the passed 2-3wks constantly that I wouldnt smile either. On the road to a settled, happy, SMILING babe

Edited by Kels

But its a trial and error thing and even the dr told me that that I had to try all sunscreens to find the one that doesn't effect her as much. Have had much experience with allergies and exczema with Maya (she was allergic to milk, egg, peanut, soy and sulphur) and unfortunately the twins are shockingly atopic already too - they have had exczema on their faces and bodies and even my breastmilk upset them so they are on Neocate (a prescription hypoallergenic formula).

I hope little Alize is feeling a bit better after having his little bottom fixed, and that the cream helps the spots. I keep Maya's exczema under control with sorbolene and by using sensitive washing liquid and bath liquid etc. but when it gets really bad I do put the steroid cream on it to clear it up coz it itches her something fierce.

I'd even visit a health store or naturopath / aromatherapist to see if they can give Alize something to help his skin without a further reaction.

I have gone on about the wonders of Weleda Baby Oil (it's a combo blend of lavendar, camomile etc), and worked wonders on Amelia a while back when she got bad nappy rash from 4-5 very runny poos a day (after 1 per day), also helped her very dry skin on her face and her excema/rash on her tummy. Not sure if it'd help Alize, but worth a go maybe

I read that and felt sad for you :o(
Reflux is not good. Blake has been a reflux baby. It HAS started to improve but he is still a very spilly baby but not in any pain anymore generally. That seems pretty drastic what he did to bubs especially after he has passed a motion? He could have prescibed some Lactulose or kept you comntinuing with the B/S and water to just keeps things soft so the tear heals!!!(which I would possibly still do if he going to stay on Gavison - which after trying everything after the sun found Blake was best on)

Re dermatitis...there are lots of a lot less evasive products for babies skin and honestly a good pharmacist/chemist are better at giving you something a bit more natural for bubs. I am very keen on Colloidal Silver cream from the health stores - it is very natural and great for anything and seems to work very well on babies skin.
I have had exczema/skin problems all my life and its crazy but I try and perservere with Aqueous cream and the very low does Locoid if its bad and of course my diet.(sometimes would love to smother myself in really strong steroids but just dont cause they are so harsh on your skin - longterm)

Hang in there...a few more months and hopefully this will all be a memory.

Reflux: so Alize has been taking the gaviscon really well and he has become more settled. I noticed he was starting to get a little constipated so I tried the brown sugar and water. He finally passed a motion this morning with a lot of crying so I decided to book an appt with the GP. So the Gp took the history of events and then did a check of his bottom only to find he has a small tear in his anus. I was mortified, then he said he needed to stretch the tear to relieve the pressure by this stage I wanted to cry. It only took a few seconds but my poor son was bleeding slightly from the bum. So after this horrific experience the doctor asks to check his face as he notices the "hormone spots". It turns out they are not hormones spots but a type of dermatitis he has as he is allergic to his own natural body oils

I was like what do you mean, apparently its common and he will just grow out of it like they grow out of reflux. So now we have steroid cream for it.
