I'll change the topic a slight little bit - I wonder if anyone can recommend a good daycare in central Auckland. Around One Tree Hill, Epsom, New Market, St Lukes etc etc etc. We have not really started looking into it yet but will have to very soon. The day care we are looking at is $245 for full time or $181 for 3 days (which we are looking at), it includes all meals once theya re on solids but must supply all nappies, formula or expressed milk bottles etc.

I always thought our daycare in Japan was expensive - we paid about $1000 for a month, food included, but not nappies. Now I think about it, probably not too bad considering where we lived. Yeh - the $270 does seem quite a bit reading what some of you are paying - except you Jennz!! Wow.

The $270 is for full time care so we can drop bubs off any time after 7.30am and have to pick him up before 6.00. They provide all food and thats about it. We have to supply nappies and milk if he is still on it and we won't qualify for any subsidy.

I think when Christopher was at the same creche - we were paying approx $450 a fortnight and that was five years ago. They have only just increased their prices. It is a great place and right next door to my work so very convenient. The people there are lovely too.

Count your lucky stars! We pay 840 pounds a term (10 weeks) for her to go part time (8.45am-12noon) 3 days a week. I pay $5.00 an hour (then minus a big chunk off that with the childcare subsidy) and I can book as many or as few hours as I like... yay for uni creche! I luuuurve it.

One of the mums at playcentre and I are talking about doing a nanny share. she has two kids as do I and I wouldn't mind a few days a week, while she wants full time I think, so I would pay a portion. Our creche have just increased their fees...I think under twos is $245.00 and over twos is $225.00 or something like that. Creche only do full time, finish at 3.00pm or mornings or afternoons. This works out well now as I have Thursdays off and can decide on the day whether the kids are going to creche or not (sometimes I just need a me day). I also like doing something with one of the kids for a couple of hours so this means that I can.

Roksana I think i know the one you are at...its part of a group from manukau to takanini to Papakura...I used to work in Papakura so heaps of the girls used them.

Yeah am def weighing up our options...but cant do so til bubs is here and i know for sure what the gmas want to do...so many options...and on other thread i mentioned daycare i visited....$275!!! OUCH!!! as well as other issues! For Maya as a baby I paid $5.15 an hour and had to provide nappies (they were happy to do cloth) and formula/breastmilk. We will be paying $270 p/w for full time care here in Welly Bombshell. It's the same one that Christopher went to and still run by the same people and his favourite carer is still working there. He loved it so I wouldn't consider sending this baby anywhere else. Further to the above I am a Nanny Centre trained Nanny who also did Karitane Training in 1973-74 but because I work through Porse not as a Nanny but as a family educator looking after my granddaughter Caitlyn in my own home and would be classed as a home educator because I would still be doing it in my own home due to circumstances
I charge only $5 an hour rather than say $15 which I could charge if I came to your house as a Nanny through Porse.

As a Nanny who does it in my own home I would charge $5 an hour which is cheaper than most Nannies but because I have to do it in my own home in Howick due to circumstances and because if anyone came to me and I would get them to join up with the Porse programme which is really good you would get a subsidy through Porse I think,

We are in Palmy, but for an idea for you. Andrew is in 4 days a week 8am -5pm (well that is what he is booked for) we are charged $35 per day ($140 per week). All that we had to provide was nappies, formula and bottles and a bag packed with a few changes of clothes.

Well, Zaara goes to day care 5 times a week, from 8.30 to 5.30 ...but only stays there from 8.45 to 3.30 - 4pm. Day care provide Food and nappies and I use to pay $185 a week but they have just increased it to $195.

Not to bad I think, the teachers are lovely and there is loads there, eg birds and rabbits etc

We live in Alfriston and I work at Takanini and her day care is just next to my work, which is just perfect as I go and b/feed her at lunch time. Ok so following on from other discussions on this topic I would be interested to know what people are paying for daycare / nannies etc...Im talking of 5-8 hours type a day. Daycares in out area are quite expensive but 5 mins down road seem to drop in price quite a bit.
So what kind of payments are you making for daycare and for how long is that covering (eg 3 or 5 days etc..) Also have you used Porse or similar? and if so what costs / times etc...
