Congrats Busymum on the birth of your new daughter. Been away so just catching up on some light reading hehehe.

A friend of mines baby hated sleeping on his back and they rolled up a towel to put on each side of him and slept him on his side. Awww I was going to say Yaaaaayyyy for you it worked!  Then I read the rest of your posts!  I think her determination will serve her well in life.  Hey if it were a reflux thing - wouldn't sleeping on her tummy make her feel worse?  She'd be more comfy upright, but not lying down on her tummy, I'm thinking.  So hurrah it mightn't be silent reflux (which as we all know, can take a number of weeks before it begins).

Front pack sleeping is rather impractical when you have a 3yo and 1 1/2 yo at home I tried that with Briona and every time she got into a light sleep she'd get a whiff of what was on offer and wake herself up!

what about having her in a front back during the day? some babies love that and sleep for hours that way? Addison went through a stage about that age where she wanted to sleep on her tummy. I would let her during the day cos her basinet was out in the lounge and i had a breathing monitor on her and would still check her every 5 minutes. I would still put her down on her back but if she grizzled then i changed her, this only lasted a couple of weeks. She is now a tummy sleeper most of the time but is almost 7 months and can hold her head up. Both my girls slept better on their sides and also with a wedge under the matterss so head was slightly higher. Tummy sleeping only happened when they could do it them selves. I can't remember when we weaned Maya off the SS, she still had itw hen she was in hospital at 9 mths so sometime after that, but we didn't have any issues with it.

I would be encouraging her to sleep on her back, or her side at a compromise. Not to make you worry but Mercedes reflux wasn't apparent till around 3 weeks, so maybe Krystiana has a touch of it?

teresa, we'd put her back to bed on her side, i should've said that in my other post. i'd roll up 2 towelling bath mats and put one in front of her and another behind her so she stayed put all night.

I'm probably just about ready to get rid of the SS, although a 'test drive' without it ended with Erin at the top of the cot (when she'd been at the bottom!)... so we'll see. Alize too enjoys to sleep on his tummy. His favorite position to sleep is upright on my chest or with his head on my shoulder. I think he finds it more comfy becos of his reflux. I have since got him sleeping on his side and he also has a flat pillow. He rolls to his back while in a deep sleep. She maybe ok on her side with one if those wedge things to stop her from rolling on her tummy. Personally I wouldn't sleep on tummy at her age. My son was about 6 months when he would roll himself onto his tummy so I just left him to do what he wanted but he was older and could roll back over if wanted to.

My niece was a tummy sleeper from day dot and they did what Vanessa suggested. She was a great little sleeper too. Unfortunately not so good now, but that's another story!

My inclination would be to go with it if she was a bit older... but when is the tummy & SIDS thing until? 4 months or rolling?

Orrr... alternatively... I found that Hannah was settled with the safety sleep because of the pressure on her tummy. Krystiana is in a pretty good routine of waking for a feed, dozing off at the breast, having about 1/2 hour lie down during which she wakes properly for a "play" and then wants to feed once more before dozing back off to sleep for 3 hours or so.

But she has a thing about sleeping against my front - either upright or in feeding position. It doesn't matter if I hold her like that for 10 seconds for 10 minutes, when I lay her on her back for a sleep she wakes up within a few minutes and then we get stuck on the part of the cycle which feeds and dozes every 10-30 minutes And they aren't proper feeds either: suckle suckle sleep is all there is to it.

So in desperation the other night I lay her on her tummy in the bassinette - in the same position she had been lying against my chest. And she slept beautifully - for five hours in fact It's just happened again today. She's not cluster feeding because she's too dozey. She just doesn't want to sleep on her back, wrapped or unwrapped.
