That is how I found out and the fact my GP could feel that it was tilted. My mum's is also retroverted so it could be a herditary thing (like most of the issues I have with my body down there, my mum had them too) along the lines of endo etc.

It's because when I'm pg, all my tummy measurements are under average and then I have average+ babies, and because of things I've heard about discomfort in particular BD positions But.... I don't have a particularly bad back (I don't think), or hugely painful periods, and I haven't had trouble conceiving.

Anyway somethng I read (googled it one day) about conceiving with a retro-uterus is that after BDFing you should lie on your back with a pillow or preferably two under your hips - so as to tilt the swimmers to the right place more easily.

    Author: ginger
Subject: 5466
Posted: 30 January 2007 at 10:47am

Does anyone else have this problem?

I was lying awake last night, thinking about things, and I remember my specialist telling me that my uterus was retroverted and what that means. It's one of those bits of information that I filed under "deal with later" in the midst of my endo crisis.

I realised last night that the reason my back has been so horrendously sore is because of the retroverted uterus, and my period being due/arriving. The increased pressure on my sciatic (presumably). Duh! Of course, the back pain has always been there - it's just that it's been nothing compared to my endo, and so it's a few steps down the 'things to complain about' chain. Except, this month, I've realised that my body has *really* started to heal after the surgery (didn't half take a while!!) - YAY!! and which has tugged that little memory chip about the retroverted uterus.

What I know:

A retroverted uterus makes it harder to get pregnant. I guess because of the angle, it's harder for the swimmers to do their thing, and bearing in mind DH and I are dealing with a wee swimmer issue *anyway* ...

What I want to know:

Anyone else who has this problem ...were there any tricks to help things along? eg. should I lie on my back after BD, or are there positions that are better than others for the deed itself ...
