Anna - I've got a great GP on the shore... Monique Huerta at Sunset Road Family Doctors. There are three other female doctors there who are all great. The sole male doctor sees the rest of the Dunlop clan - including my inlaws, brother in law, hubby and our kids. He's AWESOME... Gee Hing Wong... very, very good kiddie doctor.

I think I just had the longest ever GP appointment - and it was for FREE!

After a very lengthy discussion with my GP (who happens to be a lactation consultant as well - I didn't know!) we have decided that because I can't realistically breast feed Caitlin now that I am back to work and because the chances of me being able to get my supply back up with a pump is slim to none, we're going to leave relactating for now
We think we have gotten to the bottom (pardon the pun) of the all of a sudden change in Caitlin's "output". Last week we changed her to Stage 2 mashed foods and some of the meals have pasta etc in them. I never thought about it before but DH's family has a history of bowel issues and also wheat allergies

So this afternoon I'm off to the shops with my "worst mother of the year" award in my handbag and am going to buy up the whole fruit and vege section and spend the rest of the day beating myself up some more and cooking batches of baby food.

I used a homeopathic spray to help boost my supply with Josiah... it was called "Milk Boost" or something like that... part of that range with the blue & white boxes. (Sorry, didn't keep the empty bottle, and it was a year ago now) It worked really well, increased my supply within a day. I tried Blessed Thistle too and it worked good
I also read an article about a lady who adopted a baby and she started up breastfeeding and did it for over a year and she had never breastfed before!!
When i had to give up with Bay my midwife and lactation consultant told me that if i really wanted to i could leave him for a few months and try again but he didnt like breastmilk at all!!!! from breast or bottle so there was no use but it can definately be done!.

Good news for this morning. I got out my pump and gave it a go, I think I got some colostrum (or something that looked like it) so I'm not totally all dried up.

I'm definitely going to talk to La Leche but hopefully they won't tell me to put Caitlin back on the breast as I don't see the point in stressing her out when I won't be able to feed her for 8 hours each day.

I've got an Isis IQ Uno (the one where you start manually then it remembers your speed and continues for you).

As I'm back at work now 4 days a week I'll only be able to give her expressed breast milk. I don't want her to go through all the upset of trying to latch on etc (just read an article where it could take up to 2 months) and risk her not feeding at all. I've got all of the bottles and stuff so we're all set to go. She's never had any issues which switching from BF to foruma and even when we've had to change her formula she still takes it ok so I'm not worried about her not wanting the EBM.

I think I'll talk to the GP first in the morning and discuss options for getting my supply going again. Just read about taking Fenugreek.

It is entirely possible. It was suggested to me after Ella gave up at 9 months when I had surgery, and I was bemoaning formula to my Dr a few months later.
Do you have a breast pump? You can use that to get your supply up but before you do it might be a good idea to see if she is still interested and remembers how to latch on.

Well we're back to square one with Caitlin's "output" issues and I'm now looking into ALL options.

Has anyone on here tried to relactate after a long break and was successful? or know of anywhere I can get info?

I stopped before due to lack of volume and lack of stamina on my part. Apart from a brief chat with my old GP I didn't think I could go on BFing so I gave up.
