Well this morning there was a knock at the door and one of our neighbours had come to get me because Luther was in their front yard...

When i saw him i just cried and cried, he was still alive but just barely....in tears i rang a friend and they came and watch Rhiannon while i took him to the vet.

The vet took one look at him and put him to sleep straight away....i have spent most the day in tears, as it was heart breaking seeing my cat like that.

At least now i know he is at peace and that he is no longer suffering...

I agree AnnC, my cousins cat did that just last week, he is 19 years old and just never came home one day. I think they find a nice little place to curl up and hopefully just pass doing what cats love to do - napping in the sun. Luther is going to the vets tomorrow morning at 9.15am...and i am just dropping him off, and getting his ashes back. put my cat down of 9 yrs last year of renal failure was very sad but as you say was very expensive to find out for sure and even then wasn't gaunteed he would make it so to be cruel to be kind were put him to sleep. we buried him in the garden where he always lay in the sun...

Going to call the vet this morning to arrange to have my cat of 7yrs put down as he is very sick and we cant afford the $1000 of dollars its going to cost just to find out whats wrong with him and then the meds he is likely to be on till he dies.

I cant do that too him, Kent took him to the vet yesterday so spent most of yesterday afternoon discussing the pros and cons and have decided that its too mean to keep him around just becasue we dont want to let go of him.

so yeah going to be a sad day today and an even sadder day tomorrow which is when i will say my last goodbye.

So to my friend luther the cat, just know that you are well loved and that the last 7 yrs have been a joy, and we hope that you are happy up there in cat heaven and we just know that you will be watching us from above. You are going to leave a big hole in our family but we do love you so
