Glad its sorted! Your two photos are kinda like poster ones - the first is the one that would have a big cross over it with Ella all scrunched over, then the other one she is all smiley and happy cos she is safe and comfy!

Its a good lesson for everyone I guess, that doesnt hire a seat from somewhere. he he Andie - was going to recommend the baby factory here in palmy - my neighbour works there and also goes around teaching people how to install carseats properly, he he i wonder if it was her you talked to, a younger chickie about my age. now THAT'S an improvement!  This is after seeing a lovely lady at the Baby Factory, as Plunket couldn't fit me in 'till Friday.  Crikey the only thing we got right was that it was still rear-facing!  Scary, considering we followed the instructions that came with the capsule to a T, even though instinct told me it didn't look right.  Today's little incident made that blindingly obvious though!  We had the belt wrong (the clip for it was in the wrong place), the capsule had been sitting at the wrong angle (no kidding!), and the straps were too loose, and a little too high.  I'm so glad I took it in to be checked out!  I'm starting to feel a little like the poster-mum for 'what not to do'.  Hmmmm.

The ladies at the Baby Factory are suppose to be trained in the safe usage of carseats and I would be totally worried if I came across a lady there that didnt know what she was talking about. Just be careful with the baby factory ladies that you get someone who knows what they're talking about. I went in & asked them to have a look when I was having issues with my rearward facing carseat & the lady told me that I shouldn't have it rearward facing anymore as in her opinion Matthew was too long for it (he was well below the weight limit & was only about 8 months old) & also that I shouldn't have it in the centre of the backseat I should have it at the side as the centre isn't the safest part. Alyssa does exactly the same thing when she falls asleep in her capsule, and mine has a 5-point harness which is snug so I have no idea why it still happens?! Also, her capsule has a "level" on it so you can tell if it is in the right position..

Yes definitely looks like the straps need to be moved and tightened so she cant fall forward. A good idea is to pop into the baby factory and get one of the ladies to show you how to fit Ella in snuggly (not sure if thats a word lol) I did that with Alize when he was first born

I found Ethans head did that for a bit, i fixed it by taking the little head pillow/rest thing out, so he is just in his capsule now with no insert.

The belting all looks right for a capsule. I think you need to raise the shoulder straps to the next level so they are a bit higher than her shoulders. And then you can tighten them a bit more securely. Go and see Plunket, they have a carseat checking service.  

Your carseat might be different, but I'm sure with ours we put the longer part of the strap around the back somehow, to hold it in place properly. Hmmm looks like a problem more with the straps holding her in than the seat position. Are the straps nice and snug when she is belted in? You should be able to stick a couple of fingers underneath and no more. Wow that really doesn't looks safe does it, or comfortable for her. I've never had this happen. Are you able to go to plunket to have the seat checked by them, they may be able to fix the problem just by looking at it!!

Something doesn't look right but I can't put my finger on it. Sorry not much help.

Have you tried placing a rolled up towel under the front of the carseat? If your seat sort of slants in towards the backseat this can sometimes help hold the capsule in place.

I pulled up at home today, went to get Ella out of her carseat, and this is how I find her...

Doesn't look comfy or safe!  She'd done it before, but not to this extent, and that was before I started tilting the capsule back more.  Thing is, the more I tilt it, the less it's held in place by the seatbelt.  Have I put it in wrong?  I'm sure they're not meant to sit like that, but I can't see how else to do it.  Advice on this would be great.  We drive a Holden Commodore, if that makes any difference.  Thanks, ladies!
