We've come to an understanding where he can leave some stuff on his side of the room (which I can't see normally) until Friday night when he has to sort it all out and either put it in the wash or put them away.

The big thing for me was that we tell Christopher off for leaving his clothes lying around and make it a condition for getting his pocket money that he doesn't leave anything lying around and then for the hubby to just leave his stuff lying around wasn't fair or setting a good example.

Edited by Leish

Took a few years to get him right. And just as I had him right he spent 4 weeks away from us with his mother. And all hell broke lose.

I am like totally fed up. Wet towels on the bed. (you dont know how that one griefs me). Clothes everywhere. When I asked him why he just cant pick it up he told me his mother told him to just throw it on the floor in front of his bed so she doesnt mix up his clothes with the rest of the family.

I still dont have him back all trained. This last 10 weeks I told him straight up that he needs to help me more over the weekends. Most of the stuff is him messing and me cleaning up after him. Still no help. Our container arrived on Monday and I did about 85% of all the work with it. Got a sick baby as well and I ended up sick as well.

Asked him so nicely please just go get me something. His answer? It is too busy. Bloody hell. I lost it with him. Got up went and got myself some tablets and then told him in no uncertain terms that I am not a happy camper.

Sorry stole your thread totally. Just want to say if you got yours trained give me some ideas as a shockcollar is the way to go for me at the moment.

With a really nice remote control. Think it can work girls?

PS. He usually is quite good. But since he was with his mom last year it seems he is sometimes a bit unsensitive.

Not all of that needs washing but I'm not gonna sort out what's what! The arrangement we have is that when it's in the laundry basket, I'll wash it. Until it gets there, it's his problem. And he's fine with that.

The funny thing is that every now and then MIL will come to help out (usually when I have a new baby) and she'll say "DH has some clothes on the floor... or socks at the front door by his gumboots... etc... does that mean they need washing?" and I say "Nope. He knows if he wants them washed, they go in the basket". She's a picker-upper so the look on her face at that is priceless!!

Have had the discussion many a time about how as a SAHM I don't mind doing the majority of the housework - what I do resent however is picking up the wet towels, dirty clothes of a mid-thirty year old (he's actually 31, but remember I'm annoyed at the time!). Anyway, my one solution has been to get a huge box and put all hubbys clothes in there, wet, clken or dirty. I think I'm fighting a losing battle though cause he seems to like this arrangement - and the fact that his dad comes around often, and DOES THE SAME THING!!!!! talked to my SIL and hubbys brothers are just as bad - it's bloody genetic. GRRRRR.

So what I want to know is, beside my box idea, any other suggestions for minimising me picking up after hubby, but having a clean (ish) house at the same time?
