I like to be warned, so I warn others... if its my kids I let the other parents know and let them decide, but if its "just" a cold I don't stress over any contact too much.

The story that makes me laugh is about how Kiya had a nasty vomiting bug just after New Years. We were staying at my inlaws (who had gone to Auckland for a couple of days) and Nat's brother and family were going to come round to watch the cricket with us... we warned them Kiya had been sick, but they decided to come anyway. If they just had the sniffles/were generally snotty I'd take them, but not if they have anything like diarrohea, vomiting etc.

I'm not tooooo bothered about other peoples bugs (unless they're the nasty tummy bug kind!) as I figure they're going to be exposed at some stage anyways with having a big sister at preschool. I wont take my child to a playgroup or meet if they are sick and warn people if they try and come and visit. If they have kids I rather them not come over at all.

I dont go and visit other people if they or their kids are sick and will be highly upset if they dont warn me before I go and visit.

I only go out in a real emergency if she is sick and rather leave her with her dad to go do the shopping and all that. I know she will get all kinds of bugs from just going shopping and will get colds ect but still dont want her to be exposed if it can be prevented.

i like to be told, it makes me quite upset if people dont tell me. when my oldest was younger she used to get nasty asthma with her colds so i was very protective of her for a while until we got her medication sorted. thankfully she seems to of outgrown it for now.

one time i was furious we were invited to a friends house, we turn up and she had her sick as sister and husband staying and they were in the lounge. my girls both got really sick from them and it was just before my oldest 2nd birthday

It really annoys me too when people don't have the courtesy to warn you and let you make the decision if you want to risk it.

Hehe glad i said i couldnt go to meet you guys last week cos of our cold!

but yeah i always warn people or just avoid playgroups etc... Yeah I think when Jack is older it will be a different story we have just spent the last week having sleepless nights and lots of cuddles because Jack got a cold.

I used to really hate it when people even wanted to talk to me at some event and weren't feeling well (when I had a baby, I mean)! When it comes to coffee groups etc, I generally keep my kids away. And since I host a coffee group I actually organised a different venue this week cause we had a vomitting bug. But I must say I'm a lot more tolerant of sniffles around my little ones. I guess there's so many different colds around that I can't much be bothered avoiding them all but anything worse than that, especially without warning, makes me very uncomfortable!

Also if people turn up announced (which I usually *hate* because they often turn up expecting that you will host them, chat with them, drop whatever you're doing, and certainly it's awkward if you wanted to have a sleep, but I deviate...) I wouldn't take James to playgroup if he's sick or around to other peoples places if they are sick also and would expect to be warned before hand if they were sick is just common sense and courtesy.

I was really pissed me off when my mate come over to see James just after I had him and her kid had just got over the chicken pox she didn't say anything till they had been to my place for about half an hour I was so worried the next two weeks that he would get them as he was only a week old when they came over.

When I had a coffee group we'd all warn each other if one of the babies was sick.. as they got older, if one had a cold, we wouldn't mind too much, as it seemed that every week a few ppl couldn't come so we'd never meet up.. but we'd still let each other know, so it was up to us if we turned up.

I was just wondering what all your views are on taking your sick baby to playgroups and things? If Jack is sick I won't take him and warn anyone who is going to come round with a baby that he is sick.

Lately I have noticed a few friends inviting me around and then I show up and their baby is sick. I don't want a sick baby so is it too much to ask to be warned or for a baby to miss out on one week of playgroup.
