I noticed it mostly in the month before my vertigo (loose crystal) so I thought it might be related to that. Presumably it's not exactly related but the crystal loose thing can be encouraged by exhaustion.... so I guess it's just another exhaustion signal I've got to watch for.

Yes I am talking about the eyes (amongst other things). I play with the eye floaters, trying to catch them. I've found I can change their shape by making my eyes look in a certain direction. I like the little spiraly ones best. They seem to react better. Sometimes I flick my eyes up then down and I can see them zoom past upwards. My ones aren't really black though...they are more clear. They look like this, but only the parts in the center of each blob. Author: peanut butter
Subject: 6275
Posted: 21 March 2007 at 10:17pm

Its called a floater. The back of your eye is filled with a jelly (vitreous humour to be exact) and as the eye ages that jelly breaks down and moves around more and casts a shadow on your vision. That is what you see, the shadow. As you move your eye around you shake it up and thats why you can never quite "catch" the floater. You also tend to notice them against a white background (eg the ceiling) or the sky. You also notice them more when you are tired...dont really have a good reason for that other than we are less tolerant then?????

Basically they are normal. The only time you should worry about floaters is if you suddenly got a large one and you got flashing lights associated with it (flashes indicate it is tuggin on your retina and that could lead to a tear which could cause a detachment) or if you got a whole heap of little ones that you hadnt had before as that could indicate something like an inflammation inside your eye. Or if it was following a hit to the eye/ head. Any of these situations require you to see your optometrist / eye specialist ASAP (we would try and fit you in same day if poss as it is better to be safe than sorry)

Hope this helps.

It probably isnt, it could be that that eye has an uncorrected prescription that you can usually compensate for but when you get tired it plays up so you may not need glasses but do get blurry vision checked.
