LOL at the "special cuddles"... I thought we were the only ones to use that term!

Teresa, my signiture is from a site (www.bump-and-beyond.com) that does tickers that can have up to 10 birthdays/events on it. You could get one of those to include how long until your cast is off as well as have all your girls.

Yes I got a walking cast but it's actually quite sore to bear weight. I can stand still but walking is going to take a while I think Still haven't tried the stairs yet. The bottom of the cast feels slightly rounded too. This is going to take a lot of getting used to!

Nat's getting better at knowing what I need him to do etc, and even enjoying playing with the girls unprompted which is sooo cool Now he wants to know when we can get into "special cuddles" again - I have no idea but I'm sure not keen to wait 6 weeks either! Argh Teresa, that sounds horrible! I hope you get your walking plaster soon!
I had home help thru ACC when Maya was around 15 mths or so. I put my back out and I was on my own at that stage so had to have someone there all the hours that Maya was awake as I couldn't even lift her out of the cot on my own.

Hehe Bombshell that's a great idea! Actually my chocolate cravings have finally passed (had them for the first 6 weeks after Krysti was born). Got my brother to get me a bowl of ice-cream last night though Just had my first bath (haven't showered since Sunday ick) oh it feels so great to have my hair clean and not greasy!!

TMI Warning: Sitting on my bum doesn't agree with me though, I keep slouching and then sitting up properly for change of position and I have a small split on the skin outside the tailbone I did that after Krysti was born too, I should have known!

I dont think the other guys giving me support would help. Guys dont ususally work like that. And no. My nurturing bone isn't in my little toe. Its the chip of nail off the tip of my little toe. You know...the chip I lost about 10 years ago....

I'm the one who's supposed to be looked after. Got a headache. Broken sleep. Sore hip. Eyes are tired. Fingers numb. Nose is blocked. Knees crack. Throat dry. Sinus infection.

Have just had the first day of home help and Lorna's actually kinda nice, I guess she was quite nervous on the first "meeting" day, especially with her boss/superior with her. She's a good worker, it's a bit frustrating to not be able to do *anything* but she happily answers to every little thing and I'm really grateful.

Nathaniel takes over "home help" at 3pm... I continue to hold to the view that his nurturing bone is the bone in his little toe. He finds the whole thing so frustrating and stressful. It wouldn't be so bad, he reckons, if there wasn't some sort of "crisis" (falling over, spilling something, getting stuck, needing a drink, waking up) by one of the girls "every five minutes!". And he's struggling with cooking dinner (even if it is a re-heat plus sausages) and interuptions. It comes naturally to me but I do feel sorry for him, especially since I really can't help at all! Don't worry about me Bombshell! There's not a hope in the world that I could do the washing... and we have a dishwasher (which I can't do either) so that's not too big a job.

Have just met the home help lady, Lorna, who starts work at 7am tomorrow afternoon lol.... She'll be covering for me from 7-3 Mon-Fri and 6.30-2 on Saturday so I can be the lady of leisure, sitting down, ordering her around and getting a sore bum!!

I'm not sure about her... she seems okay but she has that shy, uneducated, beneficiary look about her IYGWIM. Theresa - I understand re the washing but for a few weeks let someone else step in....DH can surely do dishes etc he sounds capable...but washing can take time and he or you can always dictate to the person doing it how to do it and put away etc or even sit there and sort it for each wash and then get them to do it if need be...

Seriously i thought i was invincible but having to stop for a while does make you more agreeable to delegation....step back and let people help you...you will recover sooner for it...I know i did in the end...altho like u i am hopeless at delegating...

oh and def push for a moonboot...they fit specifically and not sure how it works in PN but i had to wait a couple of days for mine and still couldnt walk properly on it and still needed the crutches for a few weeks...and i had my wedding to aim for!!!

I may be able to have a walking plaster on Wednesday afternoon but that would be hopeful, by the sounds of things! I see the ACC assessor today, I need help with a load or two of washing every day (washed, hung, and brought in), cooking, dishes done... but the biggest thing is actually moving Krystiana from cot to breast to toys to cot And bathing kids (let alone me)? I think we might have a bath holiday I'm almost housebound anyway!

There are plenty of things to keep me laughing though. DH almost gagging, and gasping for air, as he changes Briona's nappies; blocking his nose as he does the washing (hehe MCNs!!), Hannah mimicking his blocked nose voice "Daddy said 'can you go away please?'" cause she was asking for a biscuit while he was attending to the MCNs!

Ah, what else. It's hilarious! "I'm sure I've walked 300 steps today... and that's just up! I'm gonna count them sometime today." Actually I think he's looking forward to ACC help so he can go to work LMAO!!!

Fortunately I'm not in much pain at the moment, I had a couple of panadol to get to sleep last night and that's all. The support of the cast is pretty good.

As for you Palmy mums... depending on how this week goes, I might get someone to get me a pile of kids' library books sometime

I had home help as part of my PND support team, and they would dust, vacuum, mop, clean the toilet, bath and basin, hang out and fold washing and do dishes. I would work alongside them, so my situation was a little different, but that's the basics anyway. Ok tell them you need washign done...and hung out..I know with your crew that is needed. Cooking - yes they do that too...i did it for an old lady on acc years ago...Ironing, putting stuff away, tidying kids bedrooms, cleaning and vacumming....

and thanks but you made my leg hurt now...I too "popped" myleg but my calf muscle in 2005 - get this - just to make you laugh - i was running away (in jest) from DH cause he wanted nooky!!! yep i ran he ran we both ran and my calf muscle popped half way up stairs!!! Was in plaster, moonboot and on crutches - and all a mere 6 weeks before our wedding!!! Yep had to fight to get outta plaster and wore flat sneaker shoes to wedding - LMAO some oldies off a certain wedding site will recall this drama!!!

Hi Anna and Nic... I was running (not too fast) at the park this afternoon and my foot just folded under me. When I stepped (ran) on it, it buckled and I heard a "pop!" Fortunately it was a Church picnic so lots of friends there as well as a Doctor lol. I have a crack (fracture) through the far left bone at the centre of my left foot and yep am in plaster. On Wednesday I should be able to upgrade to fiberglass but in the meantime I am not allowed to step on this foot at all.

As for DH... he is lovely but not taking the day off tomorrow is really not an option anyway. I feel like I can't do anything! Can't even get myself a drink very easily or put Krystiana to bed after feeding. Might be reading a lot of books and watching movies with the girls this week lol.

Tomorrow I need to call up ACC and I should be able to get home help from them. Yep I'm on crutches with a fractured foot, in a two-storey house, with 3 little girls! DH has the day off work tomorrow, during which I hope to organise home help (at ACC's expense) as well as figure out what I actually need help with.
