For the mum it was the first time he'd ever done that so was so traumatic for her. I saw her afterwards today and she was in shcok I think. the doctors checked the little boy over and he was fine - they said it was a breath-holding episode like you said. The problem I think is that both of her kids are EXTREMELY clingy and they don't sleep. She said she has had 10 nights of full sleep in over a year! So she is exhausted, the kids won't go to anyone without FREAKING out, and I am getting a bit worried about the mum. Can I pass on your details katherine? She might appreciate hearing from someone whose had the same situiation.

Meaning, did he seem to have a seizure (did he tremble and have jerky movements), or was it more like he was upset and screaming, and then couldn't catch his breath and then passed out?

Emma Rose has breath-holding episodes when she gets upset -- she will scream and then "forget" to catch her breath, turn blue, go floppy, and pass out. Then after a couple of seconds she will "wake up" and be lethargic for a little while before she gets back to normal. Unfortunately, there isn't anything you can do if it's a breath-holding episode -- I've actually read medical advice to parents telling them to leave the room if it's too stressful for them to watch their kid turn blue and pass out (yeah, right, like I can do that!).

I can find you more info about breath-holding episodes if it would help... Apparently most kids grow out of them when they get to school, but it's awful to watch. The first time Emma Rose had one, we were screaming and calling 111, and then went immediately to the doctor. It is really scary if you haven't seen it before. Her eyes rolled back in her head, she was blue and floppy, and my husband thought she was dying. So I can understand how you all would have been totally freaked out if this is what happened. Big hugs to all the mums who were there!!!

One of the little boys stopped breathing, went blue and floppy. His mumk kept saying to us "do something, do something" but we had no idea what to do. He ended up screaming, but having this things where he would breathe in and not breathe out again, then change colour and go floppy again. The scariest thing I've ever seen. ANyway, we rang an ambluance and they all went in, but we were all in shock afterwards. they are at the hospital now and I'll give her a call tomorrow and see how things went, but still feeling so horrible., Talking to one of the ladies, i kinda felt guilty too, as the whole time it was happening I was thinkgin "thank god that isn't me"

Edited by lizzle
