I'm also still on tinned food as it's just easier for me. Occassionally I have tried the "mashed" variety and she gags as it still has too many lumps. Funnily enough, she seems to be ok eating the lumps from cruskits and rusks..

I guess since I posted about it and got lots of useful responses I decided not to worry anymore and am just letting her eat the purees as long as she wants..I guess it's true what they say, it's not like you ever see a 5 year old still eating purees hehe

As soon as she displayed signs that she was Ok with lumps I did a full switch over and even though for a while there she ate a fair bit less, she still ate. Unfortunately she got quite sick with an ear infection and teething so I ground everything to a halt and when she was better started up with finger food which she was much happier with. Fruit salad from the tin, crackers, mashed spud and mixed veges. She loves peas! Now she will eat any texture as long as it has enough flavour (you are still to go through that one so I'll leave that as a surprise ).
Keep up the good work mummy!

We used to cook a little bit of mince up - either beef or pork mince and add a tiny bit of a gravy mix to it or something to give a little flavour, then puree it up once it was cool and freeze it, we would then add that to the veges etc. you'll probably find that home cooked pureed stuff is that step in between - the tins have very defined lumps. they go from runny as heck to lumpy in one step up. homecooked stuff has that thicker consistancy once pureed. We just used to leave a little of the water the veges cooked in in with the veges (not too much only enough to make it nice and smooth) and just used those stick blenders to purree it.
What kind of foods are you offering your 7 month old.
