We just had a water safety lady come and talk to us at playgroup and she said until at least 5. I've never left them. I take the phone off the hook i'm im by myself. If i am bathing kids before dinner then mike's cooking dinner. Always one of us with them, talking to them playing splashing, blowing bubbles etc. They are both such crazy nuts that they fall under regularly and paris would never be able to help ayja up if she fell under, which as i said, she does alot. She had a thing a while ago where she would just sit and then slide down under the water, didn't care, knew it got a hell of a reaction from me though.

Very cute pic.

I leave Han alone in the bath most of the time... same as Emma. With her incessant chatting and tea partying, I know she has not drowned. If she is quiet for any length of time I go in and check. Yeah, I know bad ass... but I'm fairly comfortable with that.

I bath Olivia in a deluxe baby bath on the lounge floor every night. I decided from the day dot that she was bathing in the warm room with us rather than the chilly bathroom!! It also saves a lot on water as we only fill the bottom and that is plenty to get her wet. This also solves the walk away factor as I have everything at my finger tips.

yeah your not supose to leave them till they over 5. we dont have haleighs water very deep and sometimes she has a shower rather than bath and prefers if i dont fuss over her to much.

For some reason I thought you weren't suppose to leave them until they were 5. I usually do things like clean my bathroom while haleighs in the bath as df makes a real mess when he gets home form work in there, i only help her with washing ehr hair and cleaning her body which she does mostly herself anyway ( i jsut check no soap left in hair and she cleaned everywhere). but i do also pop in and out to get her things like pjs and nappy out ready for taking ehr into the lounge to get dressed.

Only for 30secs i will pop down hall and get flannel, towel or something. Usually my DP or i will be sitting with him, reading, playing tea parties, painting my nails lol singing songs. I purposely go in and out of the bathroom, organising pjs and the like, etc. I actually think it's good for them to learn some independence in these things, slowly, because one of these days they are gonna be old enough to do the whole routine themselves and expect a bit of privacy. So for me, I feel like I'm at the first (second?) step. We've only just started leaving madam in the bath alone, she's 4 1/2 and our bathroom is off the kitchen so we can hear her quite clearly.. we get in trouble now if we try and sit with her, we also let her call the shots when it comes to wanting to get out. Zaara sits in her safety chair....I wash her hair and body and then and pull her out and let her play!!

While in chair I do pop out to grab some thing (for a sec) and then I sit by her. She did slip a few times and tho she got a scare she sat up by herself. I leave Maya on her own, have done since I started bathing the babies with her a few months ago. I bath the babies with her so she is on her own while I am dressing baby one and undressing baby 2.

I work on the theory that she makes so much noise in the bath that if I ever heard silence I would go and check on her immediately.

We don't leave Joey alone either - he is a kamikaze though and his latest thing is lying on his tummy in the bath trying to "blow bubbles" he usually ends up sucking instead of blowing

Simple rule in this house. McKayla is not left alone for one second while she is in the bath. If you are alone and need to go get something else you take her with. towel and wet body and all. If not you call the other person.

A kid can literally drown in a drop of water, so I am really careful around it. The family thinks I am too careful. I still don't leave Charlotte- if I have to pop out of the room to get something then we play Marco Polo until I get back, but that would only be for about 30 seconds. I think I'll stay in the room with her until she asks to be left alone which I doubt will happen for a few years yet- maybe 5-6ish? Yeah I sat by kids during bath-time when I nannied too - it was quite a nice time to sing songs and talk about their day and stuff. And it gave me peace of mind, I knew that they were safe!! They were 3, 4 and 5 years old by the time I left.

Well as you may have read from my thread - i wouldnt trust any age now!! i have been leaving Bay and sitting in the next room for the past few months as he is now old enough to know that when he wants to get out to call and that standing in the bath is a big NO NO! but now obviously i have to worry about him drowning from falling asleep!

I never left him when he was younger than 2 though as i didnt think he could understand and obbey the rules (no standing up etc). Hmmm well I don't sit with my girls (Hannah and Briona) and has been that way since about Christmas. But my girls babble and chatter a lot so I can hear them. at what age is it safe to stop watching your kids in the bath? i still stay with mikey when he has a bath but i sometimes pop out for a second to grab a towel or something. i haven't had to help him when he's slipped over for ages, if he does slip he sits up by himself. the thing i'm scared of though is if he bangs his head when he slips and can't get himself up.
