Both teams are friends of ours, and it was heartbreaking to see the yellow's loose their dream home, but great to see the blues get theirs too.   however, I would like to point out as someone further up the page said, it really was made for TV drama, the couples were separated and not allowed to see each other after the auction. That's TV viewing when it gets a discussion going like this. I tell you, it was hard to be in the house celebrating and not be able to see or hear what was happening a few feet away at the auction. All thru the show the producers were looking for the slightest thing to make a story out of. I was glad the blues won that yellow lady seemed like such a b*tch. But the kids were so cute.

I agree with what you said Janine they didn't seem to get along like the other years have. But the blues were only down by one and then the home audience voted for them the week the judges said it was a tie so it was actually even and then the judges gave them 2 more votes. I must say i was quite disspointed with the hwole dream home thing this year. I mean in past years, if you won the most rooms that was a good vote for you.. yet the yellows won more of the rooms, and still lost. what's with judges, that sucks, i liked the original format of public vote to see who won each room each week.

It's like this year they really wanted drama. come on telling them in week 4 that hello, neither could actually afford their houses. WHY build houses that the contestants can't afford or will have to struggle on limited money to pay the mortgage for? Why they even start off with a state house. i mean they used to move a few walls. Now they just knocked it down and put up own framing. ha, maybe they used a few bits like the blues used the old cladding etc, but they seriously did not 'transform' and old state house, they scrapped it started from scratch. lol telling them that would have put so much stress on them, no wonder it all turned nasty. The teams used to support each other. This time the judges stood in front of the yellows while the winner was announced so everyone could see the blues al happy, and hide the yellows dissapointment., and the blues didn't even stay and support the yellows through the auction. off they went into their house and broke open the wine.    it was all just drama and no hint of being nice to each other at all.

i wanted both teams to win but mroe so the blues not sure why. although i wouldve liked to have seen the yellows walk away with the house at a cheaper price so they didnt have such a big mortgage to try pay.

every auction has someone to up the bidding to get it going, ive seen it happen a few times, rude really, its jsut another dirty tactic real estates use.

i was glad the blue team one, tho i liked the husband more than the wife, i wanted them to win cos he reminds me of my father,has had bad luck thats out of his control and is struggling each day to make it financially, they got the break my parents so deserve and i dont know in a stupid way it kind of made me hopeful.

also i didnt like neishas voice, stupid reason i know but i didnt.


I love their little girl...she is sooo cute and I am always sooo upset when i think she is autistic cause she looks like a little angel on earth...what a sweetie and they clearly adore her sooo much too...i wanted yellow to win, so they could spend more time with her and not worry about their finances....sob sob!!!

yeah she was really cute.
My sisters special needs and im sure my parents would love to be able to not worry about their finances and spend more time with her but such is life i guess

I think the show has changed quite a bit from when it first started. Now the house looks nothing like the state house it use to be and they show less of the building work and more of the touchy feely things.

Considering the finsih of the blue teams let them down many number of weeks I found it strange that the judges all voted for the blue team.

Not sure what yellows mortgage will be but imagine it will be around $230,000 - that is a high mortgage. I know the worked hard on the house but maybe they should live there for six months, sell up and hopefully get the reserve of $330,000 and then go and buy something that will bring the mortgage down. I didn't like how the blue's team member played dirty but it wasn't done with their knowledge so it's a tricky one. I really liked their (the blue couple's) attitude but I felt that the yellows really played so hard to win and while the blues were a nice couple, the yellows deserved to win.

I saw the other bidder turn to someone at one point, I thought she was bidding on behalf? I think the other bidder was planted - from what I remember, all the other shows had someone bidding against them too, and I always thought it was weird.

I mean who would do that?!?!

But I guess it would be too boring if it was only the couple bidding right? So surely the producers must hook it up for "better tv" so there's that tension. Woooooooooohoooooooo Blue I so liked them and they are deserving people as well they have lost alot. must say didn't like a couple of people in there team throw.

Great to hear yellow got there house didn't think much of the auction throw. that real estate agent could of been biding on behalf of someone as we have done this before so i wouldn't get emotional about the house if it went beyond us.

Yah!! Blue team.............though I always want both teams to win their houses. You should have seen me cursing the woman who was bidding against the yellow team lolz. I was going to go to the auction last night but we drove past at 1pm and it was already starting to get crowded with cars so decided to watch it at home, plus it was a little chilly for bubs to be out in the cold....did see the fireworks from my parents house though.
I like the look of both the houses from the outside but they kinda look too close to each other (hmmm but that could be just because of the bus thingy the was parked in the middle of them, and the big metal fence that was up) can't wait to go past the places next time. Gosh they're like the flashest houses on Awatapu Dr!.
Hehehe that was cousin (Thomas) who was the carpet layer on the show!

I watched it and was dissapointed with the production. Live TV and they kept stuffing up the transmission so when the Blue team one it went all fussy and horrible.

This is your life, I picked Jonah and my mum and dad were saying no not him. When Paul Henry went to the Hilton and said it was a sports person, it was even more obvious. Talk about shellshocked when he was told. And did anyone notice his wife and his brother??? She didn't even acknowledge him when he came on the stage with Grant.

Yeah we went to the open homes but wernt very impressed with them in real life! Yellow was nice.

Anna, we did go have a look at the houses quite a few times, but didnt go to the open home, or last night. Not very easy in those crowds with a baby!

yeah i dont know if they could bid up to $280 or had $280 plus the deposits which came to $325?

i do think having a reserve was totally unfair....esp one obviously high enough to do them out of the house...i mean if they could buy for $270 and house is worth $325 so what....it would have helped their replayments...

It will be interesting to see what does happen....

I didn't watch all of the show as Monday is usually yoga night

But... I didn't want the Blues to win as I felt they played a bit dirty! What with the carpet layer being "stolen" from the yellows and then accusing them of using Trade people to help them for free. I've never seen anything like that on any of the other Dream Homes and DH & I watch it all the time.

We watched the Jonah Lomu "This is your life" and thought it was done very well! (except for the NZ Idol singers! They were CR@P! lol) I was blubbing at the end though and yeh, he looked really uncomfortable with all of the praise he was getting. I agree that they were probably concerned about repaying the mortgage each week - with a home business as their only income, that's very understandable!

I do hope they get it, I always want both teams to have their houses.

Didn't they say that Yellows could bid up to $285k? That's what I thought I had heard. Well they bid up to $270k, haven't been outbid but the reserve has not been reached. So now it's up for negotiation with them as first option for purchasing. I think that was really strategic on their part (though all their lengthy discussions were rather odd) cause they will probably get the house at equal to or just below reserve.

They're both very careful with money, we saw that with all their budgets and them having a home business. I wonder if they were concerned about weekly amounts and that's what their discussions were about. But I reckon they'll get it. I wanted yellow to win too and I just wanted to give them a hug and tell them everything was gonna be ok!!

What was with the lady bidding against them?! Do you guys reckon the producers planted her there to make it more exciting and have more tension?? I just don't know how someone could possibly do that!

And I agree Bombshell, I thought they would have told us what the yellow team decided to do. I really hope they get the house, I thought it was great.. and they really put everything into it (as did the blue team).

But surely the producers would sell it at a lesser cost to them?! i wanted yellow to win too....and what the heck was going on with them bidding...have they decided to walk away and take the money and chattels only??? anyone know the final outcome cause it was left hanging big time and poor yellows looked really confused....
