I also find it interesting. Tyrell is 11kgs it says to give him 6 mls. But when we were at the Dr's last night she told me to give him 7.5mls.

I only have the stuff that the Dr prescribed....also a bit of a cheapie.

I got a new bottle for Joshua so that it has the amount he is allowed on it and now they have a peice taped to the bottle with the amounts that children can have by their weight. Only done in 5kg lots but I found it funny Josh was 5kgs when I was given the bottle and the dr said 1.25mls yet the thign from the pharmisist aid he could have 3mls for 5kgs. Lets just say i've only given him 1.25 mls.

The teething discussion reminded me that I was going to post a warning on here a week ago about Pamol dosages, as I'd been discussing it with our nurse. 

The Pamol syrup for children that you get on prescription is half as strong as the Pamol for babies that you buy in the chemist.  Apparently a lot of people have accidentally overdosed their babies on the non-prescription pamol because they give their baby the dosage they normally would from prescription.  Plenty of times that bottle runs out and you just reach for the next one not realising it's twice as strong.  Personally, I think that's REALLY dodgy of the manufacturers because of course sleep-deprived parents stressing about their screaming baby are not always going to check the teeny tiny writing on the bottle saying what ratio of medicine to syrup it is.  Anyway, I thought I'd point it out for anyone who hadn't come across it yet.  I'm going to write 'double strength' in vivid across ours. 

Also, it's a good idea to ask your doc for a sheet of dosages (by beby weight) of pamol.  The nurse just photocopied hers off to me because each time Ella needed any, I'd never know how much to give her because she didn't weigh the same as last time.  It's not worth going by the dosages for age (as written on the pack) because when they're this young, it's their size that matters more than their age, for pamol to be effective (and not dangerous).
