She's actually better for me than anyone else....

She hasn't taken the bottle from DH in AGES! He feels pretty stink about it, but I think she picks up on his stress. I *try* to stay calm - easier said than done though when they scream non-stop! Sorry I really don't have any answers either! I was just wondering if she does the same when someone else gives her a bottle? Thanks everyone, I also use the tomme tippee 'closer to nature' bottles. I b/f her this morning and she's having a bottle next feed... argh, I'm nervous already!!

Hi Anna, Hannah went through a bottle strike at that age and it wasn't even formula! I was only working 4 hours on a Saturday, she used to strike until I got home (so like, 2 hours after the bottle was first offered! ). She kept it up for 2 months, in fact never accepted a bottle again, and in the end DH & I decided it was better for us to revisit our budget and me stay home. Yup, Erin was a lousy feeder on the Avent bottles, so we switched to the Tommee Tippee bottles. While she's going through a bit of a bottle strike now, it's different because she is older and getting more from her solids than her milk. Perhaps try different teats? Try to get one that is as close to your nipple shape as possible. I can't remember what the brand is I think it's called "back to nature" or something. Their teats are flexible just like a nipple. I know Jax had problems with Erin and she uses those teats.

All the best, I know it can be really stressful seeing your wee baby upset and refusing to feed.

I have thought about the fact that she might be getting confused between bottle and breast, but she's been doing this since 4 weeks old and the bottles are always at the same time each day - mid-morning and then before her bath...
I'll try the idea of another formula. I can't bring myself to stop b/f her, I like the time we have together too much.
I rang plunketline last time she had a major bottle strike and they told me to pretend to drink her bottle and let her watch me (monkey see, monkey do theory I guess???) anyway, that didn't work, just made me feel silly I'll try plunketline again tomorrow...

I changed her teat to the next flow up tonight and she had 160ml after only about 5 min of protesting so thats great progress!!! I know its hard, try not to stress to much, and dont do anything rash and quit your job just yet.

Ethan used to go on b/f strike, which was horrible for me I had such trouble feeding him then when he used to refuse i felt even worse.

Do you think she may be feeling confused with the bottle and breast, and also how important is it to you to keep b/f.

Sorry there is lots for you to think about, and I haven't really helped at all. maybe try a different formula most shops sell single sachets so you can give them a go.

I'm now beginning to wonder if there's more to Brennas bottle strike...

Its stressing me out something MAJOR because she screams and screams even at the sight of the bottle. She'll always b/f no worries.

I'm wondering if I should quit work because that would solve all problems as I could then b/f full time, but we need the money. (anyone know of how I could work from home??? - I need to earn at least about $150/week)

I guess I am thinking is it the bottle or the formula that she's not liking??? She has had the same formula and bottles the whole time, but her bottles strikes are now becoming more often. This morning she screamed for 40mins and finally gave in when there was breast milk in the bottle and not formula. I don't know whether or not to go see the doctor or will they just tell me she's being fussy and to keep perservering????
