I had a similar thing late last year where Ashleigh started powerchucking once a day which wasn't unheard of but not normal. Anyway she was doing it for around a week and a bit grizzly but I just thought "shes a baby and babies grizzle " then on a Sunday she had a high temp so took her to the doc the next day and they ended up sending her to hospital with a severe urine infection! I felt terrible for not doing something about it sooner

But every time I've held off going because they think I'm overreacting, it turns out my gut feeling was right and it was something.
You are not the worst mother of the year! I think I would have done the same in your position, with the symptoms they showed and other peoples judgements ringing in my ears!
Nobody knows our kids like we do, and in my opinion it is worth the Dr's fee even just for peace of mind.
Hope your littlies are all better soon!

Edited by caraMel

    Author: nuttymama
Subject: 6710
Posted: 12 April 2007 at 7:45am

The story goes, around 5 weeks ago Abby got a really sore throat and a week after that Jayden got it as well, It was no biggy as they got over it after 3-4 days and she was pretty happy throughout. Anyway a week after that she threw up one night but was as good as gold straight after. Then after that she was being sick on random nights and always seemed to be coughing before. So we figured it was just her cough coupled with her sh*tty gag reflex. My in laws came to stay and Last Tuesday my mother in law asked if Abby always played with her ear when she goes to sleep. "No" I say she just must be really tired. Then on Thursday it all clicked Vomiting for no reason (as by this stage it was everyday),Playing with her ear and being very clumsy (which we had put down to tiredness).

So off to the doctors we go and yes Abby has a severe ear infection!!! So she is on a weeks antibiotics and has to go back next thursday as it was so bad they want to make sure it has cleared up.

Then on Sunday night Jayden threw up and was dry retching most of the night. The next day he was ok and just complained of a sore tummy every now and then. I asked him if his ears were sore and he said no. So Yesterday he was still a little off and complained of a sore tummy again, so remembering Abby of to the Doctors we went and blow me down his left ear (same one as Abbys) is really red and extremely bolgy. So he to is on antibiotics.

I have decided I am now officially in the running for worst mother of the year award. As The doc thinks Abby has had hers for weeks. Neither one of the kids complained about a sore ear and Abby was running around and her normal self the whole time, well apart from the throwing up. I have three kids and I have no idea how I did not pick up on this sooner.

My mother and DH always tease me about taking the kids to the doctors for every little thing as always overreacting (I wanted to take Abby about her throwing up weeks ago). So now I say screw you I am going to listen to my little inner voice and follow my instincts.

So to all those not sure whether they should take their kids to the doctors or not, my advice if it doesn't feel right take them, the chances are you are right!!!
