he he, as i said he REALLLY hates it if i pick him up.

I have no idea how he functions like that. doesn't matter what he does he doesn't gain weight. some days he just doesn't feel like eating, (i make him of course) cos he does get full quickly, but mostly he eats throughout the day and eats all the bad stuff in high doses as well as the good stuff. for a while there he was having brekkie, then a pie and a filled roll for morning smoko, something else for lunch, a muffin or something for afternoon tea, snacks when he came home and still having dinner and then chips and dip in the evenings once the kids were in bed. So he eats, pretty standard amounts for a guy.    but yes, 12.2 i still can't get over that. No matter what i weigh i'll always be around twice his weight. have just had to accept that.

Lol, troy I'm guessing won't need a gun just his I'm going to kill you look. My 16 year old nieces boyfriend is terrified of him. Poor Abby she is going to have some very, very scared boyfriends. Although Troy seems to scare most people who see him before he meets them, He the sort of person you would cross the street to avoid if you were walking on your own. Based just on the Looks he gives.

Janine how the heck is his BMI only 12.2. I have this image of him now only 32 kilos how the heck do you function weighing that little.

He he RMAO at the thought of you carrying him around and the girls pinning him.

hehe Ann, i think a few of the chickies on here that have actually met Mike would definately agree. at just 5 ft 2, and weighing in at a current 32 kilos, i can lift him up and carry him round the house (he hates that) and his daughters can pin him in a play fight.

We did his body mass index yesterday... oh my god - guess what it was.. i was so cracking up at him, and worried all at the same time.

His BMI is 12.2 i kid you not, twelve point two.

considering a normal BMI is around 20 (underweight side of things) up to around 25ish i think.   but 12.2??!!!

When I first met Nikki there would have been no way she wouldn't have recognised me at 27 months preg with a crazy wild haired blonde toddly person. haha, am prob a bit late in the game, but i definately would love to meet all the oldies too, (grey haired grannies we are, lol) especially all the ones with kids the same ages as mine, there were so many of us that had babies around in mid to late 2005, i bet they'd all wreak havoc together.

And emma of course so i can pinch the gremlins gorgeous cheeks, they look so pinchable (my god i really am a granny)

and Maria too.

Don't take offence anyone, but ITS A FORUM, if you don't like what is being said, then turn off your computer and come back tomorrow...it will all be new topics!
I am pretty sure i have read this whole forum back to front and not got offended by anyones opinions as they are just opinions. I do admit to going Hmph when someone contradicts my 'oh so wise' adivse however, I realise that i am very dedicated to my own ideas and can find it hard initially seeing it from someone elses angle. Oh well, life goes on.

There are heaps of you who have cracked me up while I have been lurking around.....so at some stage it would be good to bump into you in real life, but I'm not sure I am ready to meet anyone at this stage. Its nice to read all the dramas, then turn off the computer go back to my own reality

Ill tell you what tho, comming from the TTC side, it sure makes a nice break from all the baby and pregnacy talk to see some stropyness (if thats even a word).

Oh and thanks to the ladies like Ginger and Jess who continue to entertain and inform. They could be lazy and lurk like me which would have made the ttc thread rather boring.

I found this forum to be really welcoming to everyone. Compared to some other websites I've seen, we're all pretty courteous of one another and little bumps seem to be smoothed out pretty quickly.

Sure, there have been times where my sharp tongue takes over and I start to write some opinionated essay about how I feel, but I usually delete it without posting it as I just don't think it's worth it to stir things up or upset others. I think just typing it out makes you feel better anyway, even if it's not posted.

Anywho, that was my two cents. I'm mostly a lurker, but I'm on here all bloody day. WOW, that pretty much sums it up. I can see both sides here as well. But to the newbies take heart there are some senior members who have not been named and coming from an over sensitive nutcase not even I'm taking it personally .

Of course there are cliquey groups on here it's the same in life not everyone is going to get on with everyone and some have known each other for a long time and as someone else has said there are people with kids the same age or those that have had the chance to meet each other! BUT i will say even though there are cliquey groups I have always been made to feel welcome!

Having said that i'm not sure now was a good time to start this thread although I'm sure it was started with the best intentions. Deb (gandt) I don't think you are negative persay you just tell it like it is without the fluffy ducks. But I will admit it has taken me some time to understand you and your dry sense of humour. As you can sometimes be quite hard to read but you are a nice person with the best intentions So keep it coming.

Having a forum with so many women I am surprised there is not a little more head banging going on so in general I think this is a really well behaved site and have mostly enjoyed my time here. You guys have offered me some really sound advice over time and helped me through some really hairy parts of my life so that will always keep me coming back.

As far as meeting people on here I am not going to name names but I would love to be able to meet up with any Mum's on here, especially the christchurch ones as I have been unable to go to any of the meet ups yet!

OK - in the spirit that it was started in... I've loved meeting the other Palmy mums, and yeah, I'd like to meet the other October mummies (and am gutted that I can't at the wee meet-up soon) since I've kept in touch with them on this forum more than I have with other people... that's not so say there's not other people I'm not dead keen to meet... but I'm not going to list them all right now!  I'm the same as a few of you have already said - I only check in on the threads that are the most relevant to where I'm at... selfish, sure, but to be honest, when I sit down at the computer for a good ol' geek sesh on this, my one and only forum, I make damn sure I check in on the threads I frequent first, before miss Ella wakes and it's all over!  If I get the chance after that, then I go for a nosey around the site. 

I am soooo looking forward to the BIG OB get-together in October.

I have found this thread really interesting - to read everyones different points of view....

I think its important to remember that its very hard to read 'tone' into forum posts and emails, and it would often come across completely differently if the person was actually speaking the words out loud.

Sarcasm can be hard to read, and can sometimes be potrayed as nastiness or some other negative thing, so maybe give each other a break and try not to take things personally!

I would like to say I like this site. It has been great for me over the past few months. There are no babies in my extended family and I have no one to talk to. So it has been great for me to ask questions. I'm kinda lucky - I get to be a stepmum without being a stepmum - haven't seen any of the kids for ages. But Mona lived with us/me for nearly 5 years which was hard work!

And I second what you said about people on here knowing everything first. When I got preg with the gremlins I told you guys before I told anyone else (except Willie ) coz I was really nervous about having another miscarriage but I knew you would all be really supportive either way. Oh and I take my hat off to you step mums. That must be sooooo hard. My friend is a step mum to 4 kids, including one terrible teen girl, man do they have problems. Yeah like, this is often the first place you tell people your pregnant or something happens and you want to jump on here and tell everyone so its kind of like oh nice, i tell you all this stuff and you dont even want to meet me! Thats the first reaction but as you said Rachel, you have to look at if from all points of view. well i when i saw the frst post in this thread my first feelings were negative rather than positive- like here we go a popularity thing. its nice that it was intended to be a warn fuzzy thread but it isnt nice when you read through and noone mentions your name so you have to see it from all points of views really, it is a horrible feeling to feel left out.

in saying that THANKYOU DEB (deborah) for saying you'd like to meet me! i cant wait to meet you either.

i have been looking forward to the mega meet to meet as many mums off here as i can, because we all share something with each other and mostly on a daily basis. we have either all been trying to get pregnant, been pregnant,or had babies etc... so in a way we all have something in common and you are all part of a GREAT online community. there will be personalities that some dont get on with and others where there is an instant friendship. thats just my thoughts

Just to sort things out me and gandt have had our say privately (as not to drag others more into it) and alls well.(btw gandt hope you don't mind I mentioned this)

I still stand by what I said but maybe could of worded it differently. We both have different opinions.

Thank you to those who understood what I was getting at.... I feel bad that it has taken away the orginal thread but perhaps it may have upset the one's that wouldn't of got a mention.

I don't think it is a "popularity contest", more along the lines of "whose posts make you laugh, agree, talk to the moniter etc, that you could see yourself having coffee and cake with in real life". A curiosity thing.

Thank's for that my2angles I was thinking the samething, but did not feel right saying so.  I agree this post could have been taken 2 way's and for me i did take it the wrong way first and yeah I would feel gutted had not mentioned me so I do think it is a bit of a populairy contest.  (thank's Baalamb it was cool to see my name even if we already know each other IRL).  On further reflection however I relised that this was started for the warm fuzzy reason.  unfortunailty thoes who are new or a little quiter might not be feeling the warm fuzzies as much as other's being mentioned etc.  Anyway that is my 2 cent's.

You know what, DSS was a hairs bresth from it as well in third form. We had some real issues. Apparently it is veeery common, as the boys are having trouble adjusting to high school, and there fore "act out". Luckily (for him! lol) he got his act together last year, sort of, and now its just lovely hormones and "independance issues"... Sorry Melanie of you feel a bit behind the eight ball. I guess there are alot of us sharing "war stories" on here, and over time, we have all gotten to "know" each other. (and some of us spend FAR too much time on here...I felt stink the other day on here while my housekeeper was here... lazy tart that I am!!) Melanie its not only newbie that feel like that. Sometimes some of the old timers feel the same way. I often feel like no ones listen to a word Ive 'said' but i think its more that there are so many people who have opinions to share.

Well said Pepsi, I like a friendly debate and hate being told to be nice just for speaking my mind.

It would be a pretty boring forum if we were all the same, had the same opinions etc... I think some/me/all/does that cover everyone? needs to harden up a bit, not take everything personally.

Well, I can see both sides of this too.. ultimately there are real life people behind each of our online names and sometimes, lets face it, we can be bitches or we can take things the wrong way cause that's what real life people do.

I mean - if you're on here in the first place you have either got a baby on the way, trying to have a baby, or already have them...all of these stages can make us emotional at times...am I right ladies!? (and no, I'm not gonna say gents just to be politically correct dammit)

Anyway, who cares if there is the odd scrap every now and again, I for one enjoy a bit of argy bargy. It doesn't have to be all flowers and holding hands all the time. As long as we get over it and move on at some stage so we can get back to actually being helpful when people need it.

I have to agree with AnnC. Ive noticed it is a tad cliquey..
Im sure its nothing personal to anyone.. theres just those who have known each other longer.

Im not complaining, im sure you dont intentionally do it, its just what i see and i feel as though being new it seems im overlooked and my posts dont mean as much as the other members who've been here longer.
Maybe i dont say anything worth commenting/reading? lol, who knows.

BUT there are/were some people I was really more interested in meeting than others, mainly because of circumstances. Im gonna sit on the fence here and say i can see both sides. This topic is asking for some to take it the wrong way and the way things have been lately it was bound to happen. It may unite a few but for others it could be a bit upsetting. But on the other hand Im sure it was started with the best intentions.

I would like to meet everyone, each person on here has different views, lifestyles etc... and I think its nice to hear everyones stories and would love to put names to faces.
