Wow Sterryn, Sam is tiny when you mention her weight & height ...well in comparison to my boy at 13kg and 83cm ...you're lucky- she must be so light and easy to carry around. I was a tiny baby too

Oh and just wanted to say it was nice meeting you @ Botany Sterryn & Tash, your bubba's are just gorgeous.

Tash, you are NOT a bad mummy! All of us have those moments where you just want them to go to sleep. It is your exhaustion talking not you.
Poor Kyan though, which teeth are coming through? Sam has 3 coming through atm but luckily they don't seem to be bothering her at all.
Pamol, pamol, pamol through out the day to set him up for nighttime is my recommendation

I really hope he sleeps through tonight for both your sakes. Did he have any day sleeps today??

Oh I forgot to tell you guys. We had the night from hell here last night. Kyan slept a grand total of half an hour all day yesterday, and then was basically up from 11pm - 3.30am!!! NIGHTMARE!!!!! Poor kid has a cold and is also teething - he's always been great with his teeth but these ones must be hurting quite a bit. I feel so bad for him, and I'm ashamed to say I had a few moments in the night where I was just so angry with him for being awake... Yeah I have to admit, Sam is such a wee cutie, so tiny - and she's great to throw around cos she's so light!!

Well, the birthday party! I still don't really know, we'll just have a few friends and family over I think, it won't be *too* many people but we do need to mark the occasion... I sent out invites today actually so at least thats the first step taken care of... And hey, I don't feel so bad now that I know you've only just sent Jeremy's invites out!
Good on you for hiring the parents centre, I really wanted Kyan's at a park or something but couldn't rely on the weather at this time of year. I called the community centre up the road but they are booked out for every Sunday for the next few months. DOH!! So its going to be at home after all.
Sterryn we need to think about what we are doing for this cake!!!

Bel, that happens all the time:) At the supermarket yesterday a lady with a baby that was way bigger was commenting on how many teeth she had for a 6 month old! She looked very shocked when I commented that she was actually 1

What are you planning for the big bday party?
We have hired the parent centre out since I am staying at Dads 2 bedroom unit so that is a load off worrying about where we are going to fit everyone.

I can't believe Emma is kicking us out
but then, being a mum to a toddler already I know that it is a very cool thing to be...they may make you pull your hair out more but they also make you laugh out loud every single day.

Congrats on your walker Renee. What a clever little guy Samuel is. How many teeth has he got now.

I must say in some ways I am glad the first birthday is over, no more bigish parties for us until he is five I say. Just nice low key events for a while :) although it is so hard to say goodbye to him being my little bitty baby.

Well the birthday girl is in bed asleep after a hard morning of opening presents, and has already attended her little friend Annabels party. Mummy & Daddy were up till 2am this morning putting her trampoline together (which was her present from her little friend Alex). New rule is if anybody buys her anything that needs assembling they will be shot!!

Thanks everyone!!

I had a very nice birthday, we even went out for dinner with friends last night and left Kyan behind which was nice! DH brought me the most gorgeous bunch of pink and red gerberas (my fave flower) and today he gave me a pink swiss army knife type thing, that has a pen, mirror, torch and even tweezers in it, along with the usual stuff you get in an army knife. I have no idea where he got the idea but it was pretty cool!! I only got it today as delivery took a bit longer than he thought. I also got Westlife tickets (don't laugh!!) and we are going to see them in 2 weeks - yay!!! All our wedding songs were Westlife so their songs have a lot of sentimental value... DH doesn't really want to go but tough!!!

Kathryn, thats very exciting news about Kaleb standing on his own - he'll be walking before you know it! Kyan has just today started moving his legs if you walk him along, he used to just sorta fall forward and keep his legs still, so I guess its a start. He just wants to stand up all the time too. Sterryn said she saw him walking along Sam's cot today as well, and I haven't seen him walk around furniture yet, so that was pretty cool!

OMG Charlotte, that is a lot of people!! We have a fairly big guest list as well, although a lot of it is family/family friends that we feel should be invited... Hoping some of them won't be able to make it!! I wanted Kyan's party at the park cos I won't be able to deal with all those people at my house (not a big house) but I think I'm gonna just have to suck it up and do it at home cos it's highly likely to be raining at the end of May.

Well Sterryn did a fantastic job of the fondant, and both of up were cleaning up the bowl afterwards!! Very yummy. Looking forward to seeing the finished results Had another great day with you and Sam today, and Jane and Alex too. Kyan and Alex were just so cute together!

Julie, I think the purple nappy is *probably* a bit girly, so I reckon the rockmelon actually. Good luck with deciding! How exciting that you're going away too, bet you are looking forward to that. Julie the red is gorgeous!! THought I'd better go red as it can be worn by any future babies too! Kaleb wears the large but it's got enough snaps that it fits nicely. Very, very trim!! Is it wrong that I want to spend the $ my Nana gave him for his birthday on another nappy?

Well done getting everything ready for Sam's party - bet you're going to have a blast!! And Charlotte 34 kids eek! I had a nappicino here yesterday and there were 11 mums and about 20 kids and it was quite hectic! Good thing the weather held and we bought Kaleb a little adventure playground so it kept most kids outside. Bummer though that in the chaos his Buzzy Bee got broken Oh well.

We have had such a busy, busy day today, but I have officially have everything I need for the party on Saturday. I have the bouncy castle in the back of my car even   
I found a great shop that sold all the cake decorations you could ever want and have finally (fingers crossed) decided on how it is going to look.
Tash and I are going to try our hands at making fondant for it tomorrow! Should be very interesting ....eek!

We will have to try come up and see you next school holidays if it works out.

Yip it is In laws in Oz. Still waiting to hear on certain factors about staying home, hopefully will know soon.

I am so jealous of you guys up in Auckland getting to have a nappy expo, how cool would have that been to go to. Hey I just came on to read and see if anyone responded to my very long post I typed this morning - was thinking 'that's kinda rude no one's mentioned it' when I remembered this morning Kaleb pushed the power button on the computer *oops*.

SO a very brief version instead:
Had Kaleb's first birthday on Sunday after having to postpone it the week before due to a tummy bug. Went to plunket yesterday and he's 10kg and 77cm tall (lost weight with diarrhoea bug for a week). He's not walking on his own yet but is getting more confident standing up independently. He's into everything though and loves climbing.
I'm on school holidays this week and let's just say I'm soo soo soo pleased the school term is over but not for long enough Really wish we could afford for me to stay home full time or at least part time.

Sterryn I ended up buying 2 Designer BUms Aria pockets (have 2 more at home and they're the only thing to put on Kaleb's bum that doesn't make his legs stick way up) AND a Bubblebubs AND an Itty Bitti all in one. I had been coveting those nappies for absolutely ages but seeing them in person (and with discount and no postage) I just couldn't say no Good thing DH doesn't know how much they cost though

Julie are the in laws the one in Aussie? Yay for having a break! And that sucks about working all weekend. Any resolution on what is happening in that regards. A few weeks ago you were making noises about being a SAHM again - well either way I hope you get to do what you want :)

I am still here but have had the most insane week of work and am utterly exhausted. I worked all weekend and so barely got to see my family :'(

We are looking forward to Sam's party on saturday so much, and are very excited.

Thanks for reviving our thread Sterryn!! Wow, I can't believe Sam is 1 on Sunday, time just goes so quickly. Kyan is 11 months on Friday so I still have just over a month to get used to the idea of him being a toddler! I might be the only one left in this thread next week though

Kyan has been a bit of a ratbag lately, woke at 2am and 4am on Monday morning for a bottle - he hasn't woken twice in the night since he was about 3 weeks old, so it was a bit of a shock to the system!! I think I might have to invest in a winter go-go bag for him as its starting to get a bit colder now.

Sterryn I am so with you on the weight thing. I really wanted to have lost some of the tummy before Kyan's brithday but the past few weeks I have just been so unmotivated. I was doing really well for a while there so I don't really know what happened. Very depressing.

Don't worry, I am there to help you on Thursday with stuff you need to do for the party so we can share the load!! The kids will be happy enough playing together while we get on with it!

I have just booked DH a bungy jump at the harbour bridge for his birthday on Sunday, can't wait to give it to him now!!!

OMG in less than a week my baby will be 1
I just don't know where the year has gone - and even more depressingly I am the same weight I was after Sam was born
I have been trying to get motivated the last few weeks but am really struggling! Slightly better the last few days though at least. Yesterday I weeded one of the gardens, swept outside and made muffins and today I have cleaned the house and started my assignment   Oh and I went for a walk today to take Sam to the park. She had such a great time running around on the grass

I have also just realised I have Sh*t loads to do for Sam's party on Saturday, plunket tomorrow and Wednesday I am busy all day - arghhh! I guess I am in for a busy week Still it could be worse

So I know I have been pretty slack lately, but where is everybody else gone??? Yea he did have a good day, even if he was running around everywhere making sure he wasn't missing out on something good. Such is my busy boy.

So how is everyone doing? I am feeling a bit blah today. Really tired and a bit queasy for the past couple of days. Hopefully I am not coming down with anything though - have a full medical for my life insurance on Wednesday so I guess I will find out then

I made the yummiest dinner tonight. We are having a grocery free week this week. I saw the idea on the Simple Savings website so decided since we had a stock pile of Sam's formula in the cupboard that we would only buy bread and milk and actually live of the stuff in the cupboards and freezer to save some money. It has actually been really easy! I am quite shocked. Anyway tonight I basically put chicken, rice, leek, onion, cream of chicken soup and some chicken stock in a casserole dish and let it cook for around 2 hours. It was sooooo good. Great comfort food for this fantastic weather

'lurk' Skyflame, just wanted to let you know that I got told EXACTLY the same thing by my plunket nurse when we had our 9 month check. Got told that she was having too much breastmilk (we are on 4 bf a day always after her solids) and that I should just shut the door on her at nightime and if she wakes up and cries for me I should just let her cry the entire night!!!!! Um.....I don't think so!!!! so don't worry you are not alone and I just nodded my head at her and then ignored it.  'lurking out now'

Ha ha, very funny Nope, my neighbour came and slid some cardboard under the bucket then handed me the bucket and I went down the back to 'drop it off' into the trees down there (over the fence of course!!). It seems as though I may have suffocated it though because it was very dead this morning. Oops. It actually looked kinda cute once it wasn't running around my house anymore

Well we went to a friends place today and ended up staying for dinner as DH is away. Kyan went to bed at 6 or so cos he was knackered and I felt so bad having to wake him up at 8:30 to take him home. Then he fell asleep in the car on the way home (20 min drive) and I had to wake him again when we got home. I made an error of judgement when I put his go-go bag on the change table so that I could get him changed and then put that straight on - BIG mistake!! He peed all over it and himself - its been a long time since that has happened. Then I yelled at the cats cos they were tearing up and down the hallway and that freaked poor Kyan out so much so he started screaming and it was all on. AAARRRGGGHHH!!!! Was planning on an early night but am now having to get his sleeping bag washed and dried so that he doesn't freeze to death tonight

Well I made a banana cake today (the trial run for Sam's cake) but am too whimpy to try it. It is made with egg replacement and rice milk with does nothing for me at all   I am going to have to get brave enough soon though, otherwise it is all a bit pointless really   Unless I leave it until Tash comes tomorrow and make her my guinea pig *yay evil plans!!*

Now I just have to figure out the fondant - i saw a nice recipe on a website with it made from marshmallows. Might have to try it - mmmm marshmallows

Well Sterryn this should give you even more of a laugh... I was concerned (read: sh*t scared) that the cats would topple over the thing of napisan, causing the mouse to break free in the night!! So what I have now done, is put Kyan's little activity table on top of the bucket, the napisan on top of that and then the highchair over it all to stop them even getting NEAR the bucket! Oh, and the exersaucer is blocking the way too. So I think I'm covered!

WTF Julie??!!! OMG, I cannot believe Plunket said that to you!! I totally agree with everything Sterryn said, and YOU are the one who knows your baby best to know what he needs, NOT BL**DY PLUNKET who see him once every few months!!! I don't know you at all, but from what I read on here and what Sterryn has told me, you are a wonderful mother who is doing the best job for her son. That has made me so angry, how DARE they make you feel that way??!!

We had a lovely day with Sterryn and Sam again today, Sam is just so gorgeous with her walking, and her and Kyan really seem to enjoy each others company which is so sweet!

OMG, DH has just left the country today and my cat has decided to surprise me by bringing in a mouse!! I hate hate hate hate anything like that, basically anything that moves really, apart from people and pets!! (not quite but YGWIM)... And the only time my cats bring creatures in is when DH is away - I've had frogs, mice and even a rabbit in the past 6 months or so - unbelievable!! I've just stuck a bucket over it and put a full thing of Napisan on top of it to try and keep it contained for tonight - luckily I have a lovely neighbour who will come and remove it for me in the morning! Fingers crossed Julie that it works out the way you want it too. Sometimes the extra bit of money doesn't make it worth it huh?   
We certainly are not rolling in money but can manage for now which is all that matters at the moment
And yeah, totally understand the whole Men having to learn these things the hard way

As for the whole plunket thing! YOU ARE NOT A BAD MOTHER!!!! Only you know what is good for Caleb and just because a rancid old Plunket nurse thinks you should be doing things the 'Plunket' way doesn't mean it is the right way.
I am totally waiting to be told by Plunket when we go later this month that I have to cut down Sam's bottles to 2 a day which is not gonna happen anytime soon. I am happy with Sam letting me know what she needs, and she will drop the bottles when she is ready. She has already dropped from 6-4 in the past few months by herself as it is.

As for telling you he should no longer be getting breast fed! What the! I thought Plunket recommended b/feeding until 3!!!

Just do what works for you. Caleb is a healthy happy wee boy and you are doing a great job with him!

Stupid Plunket woman.

Sorry we had a Plunket check today and the Plunket nurse made me feel like such a terrible mother. She told me Caleb should no longer be having breast or bottle feeds and there is no reason that he shouldn't be sleeping through the night and I should just let him cry it out for 3 hours so he learns to sleep through

Not what I wanted to deal with today when i am feeling rotten as I think I have managed to pick up a bug from somewhere and DH has it too.

Sewing table is starting to get in order, just have to get it rigged so little grabby fingers cant pull everything open and hide stuff around the house. It is so exciting though to have a place to house all my sewing stuff nice and tidily.

DH has been finding it hard to try and watch Caleb and work especially since he hates being caged and is so active. He is meant to be getting a work laptop that should help a bit, but since I have been having issues with work and would love to be at home we are hoping it will all work out. Unfortunatly my hours are so inconsistent that Daycare would not work and it wouldn't be worth me going to work if we had to pay for DC. He was also of the opinion of extra money is good and it wouldnt really affect him at all. I knew it would and tried to explain that to him, but you know how males can be.

Well I am knackered so am off to bed so I am all healthy and full of energy for Saturday. swimming is so cool, I am so glad I started Cailin off early, she is already a good little swimmer. Jermey is going to start next term too so that will be busy but cool. we have been down to the beach most days this past week and Cailin loves it...Jem is not so sure. Doesn't help when the tiniest of waves piss-bowl him over!! Anf the water is starting to get a bit cold now too

Yay for Jeremy starting to walk!! He must be wanting to keep up with his big sister Clever boy.

Well daylight savings is a right pain in the bum - Kyan woke up at 6:15 today! Normally its 7:30 so that was a bit of a shock. Tried to get him to go back to sleep after a bottle but he wasn't having a bar of it. I thought he'd be fine as he went to bed by the clock last night but nope! Hopefully he's figured it out by tomorrow.

Oooh, I do have exciting news! I have booked Kyan into swimming lessons, yay!!!! I called the Waterhole and they were soooo friendly and helpful, their next term starts on the 28th of April and we get a free lesson the week before. They have baby lessons at 9am and 1pm on both Saturday AND Sunday! SO heaps of choice. We've gone with the 9am Saturday lessons so we have our first one on the 26th Looks like it'll be a big day for him, cos we have a certain special someone's birthday party that afternoon

what a clever girl Sam is, I can't believe we have a walker already as well. Jeremy took a kind of step yesterday, but it was more of a I am going to fall over just now so had better put my foot out here to ballance mayself kind of step so I am not really calling it a real step. He is now standing for up to 15 secs before he sits down so i'm guessing within the month we too will be off on two instead of fours.

How cute that Kyan is waving, Cailin didn't wave until she was well over 12 months old so not expecting any waving action from Jem anytime soon

hows the sewing table Julie? Also what is not working for DH re working? My DH wants me back at work but I KNOW that in the end it wouldn't be how he expected life to be. Sorry we havent been in lately, have been busy with stupid work and baking on my days off for someones birthday.

We are having to build a gate this weekend to cage our little runner, started yesterday after work so now have to do thew posts and put everything together this afternoon. Yay, I am looking forward to not having to worry whether he has run out to the road while I put the washing out. I am also very excited as I picked up my new (ok old, but new for me) sewing table this morning so now I will be able to keep my machine away from small fingers.

I cant believe it is only 5 days until my baby turns one and I guess that means we will have to head over to a toddler thread. Arggh that has gone so fast.

On another note things are not working out as well as DH hoped so i may get to be a SAHM again yet, we will just have to see how things go.

You should see my wee girl trying to walk when she is tired. She looks like she is drunk! It's a bit scary especially when she was doing it today on a wooden floor at jumping beans. I kept getting the vision of her head bouncing off the wood

Nice to hear from you Kathryn! Who looks after Kaleb while you're at work? How are you finding it, do you feel like you're getting enough time with Kaleb? He's going to adjust fine and I'll be a great big mess.

And OMG, my child must have spent every waking moment that she wasn't eating on her feet toddling around! Talk about exhausting.

Extra cute moment today though. I had her bottle in the microwave heating and went into the lounge to get something. She walks over to me, grabs my hand and leads me back to the microwave and then stands there looking at me and doing the sign for bottle! NOOOOOOOO!!!! It can't be happening!!! I always think of toddlers as 18 months + who throw tantrums etc, not little babies like ours still are! Sam is definitely too little to be called a toddler I think. And Kyan will be called a baby for a while yet!

Can I call her a baby still now that she walks - I am fighting the toddler title - she is just too little for that

We have had 3 nights of sleeping through from 7.30pm till 7-8am. Yipee. No more dream feeds and I am loving it

Well I think Kyan may be a little sick, his nappy was practically dry this morning and then after breakfast (of which he only ate half) he had a really runny nappy. He hasn't been sick again though and he's back in bed now, so hopefully he'll just be able to sleep it off.

LOL Tash, I have eaten quite a chunk of a Energy Choccy bar So I know the feeling. I have managed not to have any Frozen coke in over a week though - may have to treat myself tomorrow while I'm in Takapuna

Poor Kyan. Hopefully it was just something to do with the phelgm and not winding properly. The formula can just sit ontop of it which can make them sick. Sam has done that on occassion. In saying that if you hear weird coughing sounds during the night go and check though - that's the sound Sam made when she threw up everywhere

Oh, and the Peter Pan was the cheap one:) I would probably look at IHM though, it might make the transition a little easier for him.
You never know though - maybe you boss will come through. Either that or maybe he will let you work from home a couple of days a week and you can Kyan can ease into it.

OK, just a short one for me i am going to watch Epic movie with DH now

You still have almost 4 weeks so we'll both have to lose what we can in that time. You're so right about the healthy, permanent solution though.

I have eaten McD's, Hells AND KFC this weekend so OMG I don't think I'll be getting on the scales tomorrow... Awesome, thanks Sterryn, I will look into the Peter Pan place. Massey is about a 10 minute drive so thats good, and didn't I read on another post that its pretty cheap too?

I'm not sure what would be best in the meantime, to try and find another DC for a couple of months, or put him into HBC in the meantime, cos I don't want to confuse him... Going from me to somewhere else then daycare will probably be bad enough anyway but I've got to think about which would be the easiest transition too. Although he's the kind of kid who'll just go with the flow anyway - he'll go to anyone and isn't a clingy baby at all so thats definitely a good thing in this situation!

Had a bit of a sick bubba earlier this evening... Kyan had just finished his bedtime bottle (drank about 1/2 the bottle) and then coughed a few times, like a real phlegmy kind of cough. Then he threw up a huge lot of phlegm, plus god knows what else... I started taking him into the lounge to get DH to take him so I could clean myself up (none went on him) but before I could he power chucked EVERYWHERE, and it was probably enough to fill a bucket. YUCK YUCK YUCK!!!! Luckily we have no carpet right where I had him so it was easy to clean but OMG!!! He has never done that before so it was really freaky. And to top it off, it was the first night I think I had ever put his sleeping bag on before he had his bottle - BIG mistake!! I've just gotten it clean and dried so had to go put it on him, and woke him up of course. But I couldn't leave him for the night without it cos he moves around so much that its impossible to keep blankets on him. Tash good on you. If it felt right then it was the right decision for you I'm sure you will find somewhere for him to be in the short term until you can get a spot there. A friend of mine said that the Peter Pan in Massey was good and was pretty flexible with spots. Maybe check them out for a short term solution?

As for the weight loss resolution, I am currently reading Dr Phils book about it and it is making a lot of sense.   I have less than 4 weeks till Sam's Birthday so I have definitley left it too late to do much, but it is more about a healthy permanent solution than a quick one.

Good on you for doing the walk this morning. I did think about it last night, but then Sam slept in this morning till 8.30am. So I got a sleep in which never happens   We would needed to leave home at 7.15am to get there in time, so ugh on a Sunday morning. Also I have hurt my foot again - I think it might be the heel spur again - grrr! I have it strapped up today and am hoping it will get better by next week sometime. I am hoping maybe we can do another walk if it comes right

OK, Miss S has woken up from her afternoon nap. Better go.

WOW, it seems almost every time you post Sterryn, Sam has learned something new! She is such a clever wee girl Can't believe it only took her a week to learn the sign - how cool that you will be able to communicate with her that way!!

Well, I never heard back from my boss, but I'm pretty sure I know what his answer is gonna be. I had a call from daycare about 1:30 on Friday, and I...turned down the April place!! OMG, still didn't know exactly what I was going to do when he called, but once I said it I just felt so happy, so it was definitely the right decision! I made him really aware though that they were the only place I wanted to send Kyan, and made sure that by turning this place down that I wasn't jeopardising being offered the next place in any way. He totally understood where I was coming from, and even said that he thought calling me was a bit of a long shot because it was so early, but he thought I should have first dibs if I wanted it. There are a few people lower down on the list than us who want a place ASAP so it works out for everyone. However!!! I have absolutely NO IDEA what I'm going to do with Kyan when I return to work in May! I'm going to ring around some home based places next week and see what they can do for us. It should only be for a month, 2 months MAX as daycare have said that if the other lady ahead of me on the waiting list (I'm 2nd) takes the 23rd of June place, there should definitely be another place for Kyan by the end of July. I'm sure I'll be able to find somewhere for him - have to think positive right!!

Anyway, hope everyone is having a good weekend - we went to the Huggies/Plunket walk this morning which was quite good. Nice to get out and do some exercise anyway, its been a while... Oh and for a bit of an update - I haven't gotten anywhere on the weight loss front, and with only 8 weeks to go till Kyan's birthday I think I've left it a bit too late... I guess if I start taking it seriously now though, I should have lost at least 5kgs before then. It should be easy too, with DH going away for more or less the next 3 weeks I don't have to worry about him suggesting takeaways for dinner, and as Kyan is in bed between 6 - 6.30 there is no chance of going out and getting anything either!!

I am not sure how I cope with his walking still. Must build a gate on my days off this week to keep him in the back yard since he is a runner.

We had a fantrastic time on Friday thanks so much Sterryn and Sam, even though my thigh muscles were killing me yesterday from swimming. It was so cute when Caleb was giving Sam kisses and cuddles, just wish I hadn't left the camera in the car at that point.

LOL isn't that typical. And she is such a little show off too. She walked around like a little pro at Jack's party today Scary though, walking already - Julie I don't know how you coped with Caleb walking months ago!!

I am so proud today, Sam has really learned her first sign for bottle. She was making the sign to me earlier and I went and got her one, and she was happy - normally it ends in a tantrum I am so pleased because it has only taken her a week to learn it

Charlotte, I hope the move is going smoothly for you this weekend.

We met up with Tash & Kyan yesterday and had the bestest time I will post some photos in the gallery once I have finished this post, but Tash, thanks again for coming up for the day. My baby is 10 months today! Took him for his MenzB shot and when the needle went in and then out, the expression on his face never changed - he didn't even notice!!! Ha ha, it was so funny. He's always been easy with his shots so I'm very lucky there.

LOL at the snare/smile, can't say Kyan does that - but I think she is just so proud that her teeth are through so she just wants to show them off! Don't worry, she'll get sick of it soon

Ahh Sterryn, thats the beauty of having a girl - they don't need haircuts! You can just use some cute clips to pin her hair back when it gets in her eyes - it doesn't look so good on boys though!!

We've not done much today - had my sister visit for the first time since Kyan was 5 weeks old!! Oh Tash, I totally sympathise. We have just been going through the same thing in our household. You try and put Sam to bed and she starts screaming before you even have her in the cot. Not just at night, also during day naps here. I have had to let her CIO, what other choice do I have - she has to sleep!

Woohoo on the Gastro bug finally buggering off- about time!

Julie, bummer about working over the long weekend. Do you get days in lieu for doing that? Things have changed so much in the past few years that I can never keep track. Once upon a time it was well worth working a Public Holiday though

Allergy wise, at this stage we only have proven egg & dairy, but the doctors at Starship have said that nuts are a high possibility for her as they tend to go together. Won't know for certain until she has had some testing done after her birthday. Until then we have been told not to give her Kiwifruit either as kids with nut allergies react in the same way to Kiwifruit - Weird!!!

Tash, definitley take photos of Kyans haircut - WOW! I wish Sam had enough hair to warrant one. She does have a really long strand that gets in her eyes, but it doesn't warrant a cut. And $14 seems a bit extreme for a baby!!!

So, does anybody's child smile weird? Since Sam's teeth came through last week she is doing this really weird smile that is more like a snare. She crinkles up her nose and eyes and bares her teeth. It is like a evil Sam smile. Funny for now, but good grief I hope it doesn't last. How is Caleb doing? Can't believe the first of 'our' babies isn't too far off turning one! What have you got planned for his birthday?

Haven't gotten any good pics of the haircut yet, but I'll try again tomorrow... Forgot to mention that it cost us $14!!! OMG, for a 5 minute haircut!

Happy Easter everyone. It is my first morning off this weekend (although I have to work late tonight), but of course no sleep in here. I have been trying to get some of the things done around the section that have been going a bit crazy like trimming back the hedges so now I have sore arm muscles and trying to clear some of the sewing pile. Which I will try to do more of today.

Sterryn that sucks that people dont listen and want to give her chocolate. I hate to think how hard it is going to be over the next couple of years keeping her away from dairy. Is it just dairy and egg that she has allergies to?

Will look forward to see pics of Kyan with his new haircut Tash. Also yay about finding a barrier that will work for the lounge.

Nope, not yet! But I'm finally going to get the barrier for the lounge sorted - there is someone on Trade Me who makes them and its going to be expensive for what we need (around $300 ) but we priced up what it would cost for DH to make one and it was about $280!! So definitely going to get the one off TM made next week. Best thing is they are just down the road from us too, so we can just go and pick it up.

Your day sounds like fun Sterryn! You are such a good mummy cleaning all Sam's toys . Definitely sounds like it was a good idea. Yuk at the smell though!!

That must be so frustrating with everyone wanting to give Sam easter eggs. Even though Kyan doesn't have any allergies (touch wood), I don't want him eating that sort of stuff at his age. I'll give him a few little ones next year, but not now.

We went over to Albany mall and ended up getting Kyan his first haircut. He looks so cute and like a real little boy now. I'll have to take some pictures tomorrow.

So any luck with a gate Tash?

We have had the busiest day today, yet a relaxing one. We had some friends come over with their 5 year old little girl and then my brother and his wife & Sam's 17 month old cousin Brianna turned up as well. We ended up having a big lunch, walk to the park and went for a Swim in the pool. It was so much fun.
The only thing I didn't enjoy was having to Dettol all of Sam's toys after Brianna played with them. Took ages and now I stink of it!!!   Worth doing though, not the most hygenic family and Brianna had Rubella a while back, so I'm not taking any chances!!!

Oh, and why is it that over half a dozen people have now tried to give my darling daughter an easter egg after I have told everybody we know that her allergies mean she can't eat chocolate!
