I have just put it back on Hannahs bed as it was taking around an hour and a half before she would go to sleep at night, and she was soooo grumpy the next day. So now that its back on she is going to sleep quicker and having a longer sleep. I undo it at night when I go to bed. I know a lot of people just keep using them until they go into a big bed. I am reluctant to totally wean her off it as she sleeps really well at other houses with her safety sleep on.

Sorry that hasnt really answered your question, but good luck with it.

I wanted to use it to enable to help Olivia sleep properly but as soon as it became a restraint it was no longer an enabler.
Years of working with the elderly and that is my pearl of wisdom!

It was rough for the first week, a lot less sleep goes on during the day and it is hard to believe your kid is not going to cause itself some damage, from sleeping with it's face squished into the blankets!
But take a deep breath, like everything that kid's do it is only a phase.
If they are tired they will sleep and I know it is a big disruption to any routine you have but they will go back to it.
I must admit, after day 4 I was going to put the safety sleep back on the bed but made a friend talk me out of it!
Best of luck sugar.
I have taken to safety pinning it together for his nap during the day as he is pretty clever and actually undoes the velcro and then gets up and plays and doesn't seem to fall asleep.

How long should I leave him to try to settle by himself if this is the way to do it?

After he has fallen asleep I have taken to unpinning him as he wakes up crying because he can't get out and it frustrates him. But still cries initially until he knows he can get out.

Any ideas??
