it was a lot of common sence although my babies hated being swallded. but if you come in from the outside having had no sleepness nights and not totalty stressed out from a screaming baby, baby can sence that and will naturally feel calmer. but it is a cool idear to have someone to come in and let you get some sleep so you can be calm and not stressed around baby.

it was a great story

i had to sleep charli on her side as she wouldn't settle on her back. my mw suggested it, with rolled up towels in front and behind her so she couldn't roll over anyway. bit like a sleeping wedge situation

From what I saw on the ads, its mostly just common sense. Maybe she is just one of those people who project calm to the baby. It makes sense tho, in my experience, it is easier for an outside person other than Mum or Dad to calm a little one since it is less distrssing for them. it isnt their child and they havent been up with them all night long. They are fresh to the scene, so can act objectively. Thats what I would say to the family of the kids I was nannying. Its just a fresh perspective, they werent doing anyting wrong, they were just dog tired!

i think what she was doing was simple common sense and also what any midwife or nurse would have done back in the 70s - aka my mum!!!

altho - i did not like her idea of swaddling then placing on side....it needs one arm out and a tilt...pretty dangerous i felt the way she was doing it!

Yeah I think even though the stuff she does is pretty much what you are told will help settle your baby, the lady does seem to have a real magic touch.
