We are broke from just buying a new car so it will be a fairly quiet affair for us - maybe I might get some seat covers for it but I suspect Dh will make me breakfast in bed ( along with a huge mess in our kitchen).

For my mum - we are postponing it a week as my sis is coming over from Aussie and it'll be the 1st time in about 6 or 7 years we are altogether for mothers day. (and now with the addition of a granddaughter and one on the way), she has said having us all there is a huge present and not to get anything else but we will get her something wee.

I have no idea what, if anything I'll be getting this mother's day. We're having dinner with my family and (WOOHOO!!) Yea I know what you mean. kinda weird as i still have to cater for my mum and guess he will want to do something with MIL also...

Just the other day, DH was saying, "On Mother's Day, we'll go see my mum, then we'll visit Grandma, since we haven't seen her in a while." Hey, man, what about me?

Last Mother's Day (my first one) wasn't terribly exciting, as we had a three-month-old baby who refused to sleep. This year, I'm thinking breakfast in bed, a nice card, calling my own mother in the US, then maybe being taken out to lunch. Then DH can take Em to visit his mum and grandma while I shop UNHURRIED and BY MYSELF, without someone interrupting me needing a drink, nappy change, snack, nap, grabbing things off the shop shelves, throwing toys from the pram, trying to escape from the pram harness, taking off her shoes and biffing them at strangers, eating her socks, screaming when old ladies peer into the pram, and generally making me wish I'd stayed home.

I love mothers day, spending the day with my kids going to see mum, having fun just having my kids making a fuss of me. lol..

I will be celebrating my mum. I love mothers day, not because I'm going to be a mum but because it's a day for my mum and she deserves lots of special days. Absolutely nothing!

Both my family and DH's think its just a waste of time and money - we also feel this way about valentines day. We would rather make a bigger deal of someones birthday or a date like that which is far more personal.

To me mothers/fathers day is an excuse for people to buy presents and shops love it cause they make enough off of it.
