I usually just agree with people if they call Hannah a boy!
I always ask, just in case, (except in cases of head to toe pink) or don't make a reference to gender until the mother does! Or ask the name... usually you can tell based on the name!

When I was a student, I worked part time in Whitcoulls and once I saw a baby wearing blue, so I assumed it was a boy...next thing out of my mouth was ..."oh he is so cute, how old is he?"....The mother replied She is 5 months old!!!!    ...she said dont worry its my boys old cloths......

Man!!! I decided from that day on, I will never comment on cute babies!!!!! i have to say - Im over the pink thing to a certain degree - but its really hard to find newborn things in anything other than pink/white or blue!! Older baby stuff has more variety when it comes to colour - so im trying not to buy too much as, unlike my boys - i will have to buy new stuff each time she grows (damn it!!) And with not much summer stuff around at the mo - a girl can only wear so many clothes between now and summer. Yep Roskana - im getting excited alright - on a practical level i know how much hard work its going to be with newborn and the rest of them, but on the other hand i cant wait to meet our daughter!!
Im pretty much ready equipment wise and at the moment im looking forward to 36weeks when i normally wash all the little clothes!! Cool at the best of times - but little pink things ......... (sigh) i cant wait...

new mum - i found i got all weepy about now as well - one minute you're fine, the next you're an irrational crying mess. lol.

Emma.. I find the same thing for Paris - if it weren't for the adjustable waists from PP and Jk.. her pants would constantly fall down.

The good thing about having 2 girls - is that i can justify buying neat stuff for Paris, cos even if she grows out of it quickly.. it will get used again. lol. I used to really want a boy, but now I think I really, really won't mind. I just hope everything goes well and I can't wait until the baby is finally here!!! I haven't had any indigestion since about thursday and it seems like somehow the baby is quite low?? My tummy starts really low and seems different. Mum said that is way to early for that to happen, and I know that but... anyway my m/w is here tomorrow and she will be able to tell me what is going on, maybe baby just changed positions, or maybe I will know if it is a boy or girl earlier than I thouhgt!!? I am also REALLY weepy this week, is that normal? I wish my girl was a bit more of a "girly-girl" but her favourite outfit at the moment is kindy clothes of trackpants, a skivvy and a jersy! Of course, the trackpants and skivvy are a matching shade of pink or purple (and her knickers and socks are the same colour as well! ) so at least she coordinates her outfit a little bit.

I use to work for PP and always admired the beautiful clothing they had for girls....and wished quietly, that my first born would be a girl.

I use to get a really good discount at PP and now I think I wont buy as much from them (as they are very expensive). I must say tho, the amount of quality checks they do on each of their clothing...its worth paying the price.

Congrats on having a girl! Everyone else is right, girls are so much fun to dress.
I'm terrible. Shoes are our vice. Maya owns more than 30 pairs of shoes!!! Some are hand me downs, but I am guilty of buying most of them, and when my dad gave her $20 to spend a few weeks ago she went to Target and picked.... shoes! My latest splurge was $65 on a pair of gorgeous Converse All Star boots with yellow and red hippy flowers on them, they were so cute I went into the shop about 4 times to look at them, thinking I can't justify paying that much for shoes for Maya, but eventually I had to have them.
I usually go to Northcote to the factory shop centre and buy Maya's clothes from Pumpkin Patch and JK there coz they are so much cheaper. I find now that she is older and growing a little slower it's worth paying the extra $$$ for the 'designer' stuff because it lasts longer. And the adjustable waist jeans that JK and PP have are great for my tall skinny girl.
I do spend far too much on clothes for her, but I kind of justify it by saying she's my only child, and so I can afford to spoil her a little. there's some really gorgeous stuff out there for girls right now. We went over the weekend and got some stuff for Paris and Ayja, and sorted out the stuff they'll wear for their pixifotos in a few weeks, Pumpkin patches baby girl stuff is so cute with the bugs and butterflies on it. and it's not so pink it's sickening either.. they have a good range of nice colours.

Watch out, it's addictive.. once you start buying cute things, it's hard to stop. (we got a cute sweater for Paris with a monkey on it, and just had to go back and get another one with a kitty on it.)

I discovered I was pregnant with Kiya at 20 weeks... when I was about to have my only (with her) scan a little over a month later, I said to my mum "I think I'm having a girl" and then we found out I was right. I never chose a boys name, I felt I didn't need to (although it took me most of that month to decide how to spell "Kiya" - pronounced kii-yah .)

With Josiah, both Nathaniel and I felt we were having a boy pretty much from when we found out I was pregnant, at 5 weeks. lol, roksana, everyone thought i was having a boy this time, and told me so very often.. from the way i was carrying, the problems i was having.. the fact i died my hair and it went a complete different colour(apparently "boy" hormones will do that, lolol, whatever)
i think sometimes you do "just know" it's when others start putting their own opinions in your head that you can get a bit cloudy.. but then, I must say, when they told us Ayja was a girl, I made the sonographer check twice.

Yeah well language will be interesting.....See though my Dad is Indian, we speak a totally different language to my hubby. I speak both and Russian, Ukrainian and English.

My grandma (Dad's mum) will be looking after the baby while I am at work, so baby might pick up that language first. We would teach it hubby's language....but wont encourage english as they pick it up at school. However I will try really hard to teach the baby Russian...but I dont know how successful that will be.

My hubby grew up in Germany but is actually Polish (coincidence!!) and i am German born but grew up here in New Zealand from the age of 3.

What are you going to do with languages? Will you only speak English? We would like the baby to have both German and English (we speak German to one another so it will pick that up pretty quickly i suppose).

Well, ideally we would like to live in Nelson as we both really like it there, job wise we had to come here but maybe in the future... It is really hard here though especially withour friends and stuff. Some days we would love to go back to Germany straight away as everything was definately easier there, especially finanially. But we both think NZ is a great place to raise kids compared to Europe so we will try and stick it out!!

Should we be doing this per private messenger so that not everyone is sick of our rantings if they read this topic?? Oh that's nice, is your hubby German?

Our baby will be the first grandchild for both families and will be the first great grand child for my side of family (and hubby's father side)....so as you can imagine my baby will be spoilt.

My mum is from Ukraine (Mum's dad was from Poland)and Dad Indian so I am half half...my hubby is also Indian so my baby will be 1/4 of every thing...it will be a confused baby. ummmm

I did my teacher training here but left straight after Uni and was living in Germany for 5 years. I taught there though at a private English school. I love teaching!! I really want to go back to it one day. My mum and mother in law have been great helping us too!! It is the first grandchild for both of them so very exciting but my mum is in Nelson and my MIL is in Germany! Sounds like a good idea waiting for the baby shower!
I hope the move goes well, it is so funny that almost everyone moves when they are pregnant!! Ahh..you are in Wellington, I am in good old Auckland.
I have bought nothing so far, my parents bought a cot and mattress but since we just bought a house it is sitting in their house, till we move in next month.

I have decided to wait till my baby shower (in 2 months) and then buy what I didnt get. I have loads of friends and work mates (who are very excited about my baby). However things like baby seat, pram and change table will be bought by us or Mother in law.

It says you are teacher....did you teach in Wellington?

I know scary isn't it!!! I am so excited though, I can't wait!! I pretty much have everything I need, just a few last minute things and we still don't have a car!!! I have told my hubby I am not biking to the hospital when it is time!! He is being too picky me thinks! I won't be having a baby shower as we don't really know anyone living here in Wellington that well and the few people I do know wouldn't be worth it! It would be silly. I am slowly getting to know other young mums or pregnant ladies through the internet which is great. I feel less isolated then and it is good to have people to have a coffee and a chat with!

My best friend sent me a list of characteristics where you were supposed to be able to tell if you were having a boy or a girl but according to that we are having half of each, hahaha.

My baby has its moments...today it is much well behaved. Unfortunately it is still too early for my hubby to feel the baby....
My heartburn seems to have eased.....but now I am running to the toilet every so often....

It is an amazing feeling! I don't think I have felt our baby have hiccoughs yet (it just kicked me so maybe I am wrong!?) and I can hardly see the tummy move when I lie down because my boobs are so huge
I was holding a frineds 8 Week old son yeasterday as he was sleeping and my baby woke up and started kicking/boxing something wicked! Do you think it was jealous!? It was funny anyway!
My hubby loves it now that it is so vigirous, I suppose he feels much more part of it all now.

YAY it worked!! The scan yesterday said this little bundle of mine has an estimated weight of 6 pound already!! (Mainly because of her fat tummy) My last 3 babes have been around the 9 pound mark but now im worried that this one will be like 11 pound (shes on the 75th percentile) SO ..... i think im gonna stop eating .... well, chocolate and cakes etc anyway! The amazing thing is - ive only put on 4 -5 kgs so far! By the way the genitals were EXTREMELY obvious - there is no question in my mind now regarding the gender - she better watch out for her 4 big brothers! Alex was a really active baby too. Kicked all hours of the night and most of the day too.
I worked right up til my due date...Milking cows. Spencer (my man) used to tease me about hooking me up to the milking machine. Nicknamed me "Big Belly" coz I was more round than I was tall.

You know what I miss? Watching my tummy jump up and down and squiggle and squirm! It was so much fun!

And when the baby had hiccups it was hilarious! My whole tummy would move as Hannah hiccupped. So different from the kicking and prodding, as that was in such a select area.
Ahhhh preggo belly *sigh* bit of nostalgia!

Active babies try having 2 in there kicking you, some days it gets abit much and i have to tell them to slow down (haha).  They don't keep me awake a night i think thats when they do most of there sleeping so i'm happy with that i just hope they stick to that routine when they are born (haha).  With Blair it was totally different he did the opposite and when i went into labour man did he move heaps you would think thats when they would be really still with everything else thats going on around them.

I tell you what...I am sitting on my chair and leaning as far as possible, I can barely reach the keyboard....The baby is just in the mood to be active. Some times it feels like kicks and punches...and then you have that rolling motion from side to side or up and down.....isn't this fun!!!!

Maya moved a lot from about 20 weeks till about 32 weeks. After that I started to worry that she wasn't moving enough, but a scan at 36 weeks showed that she had run out of room to move so that's why her movements had slowed.
She did seem to kick a lot more when I was in labour, I remember crying when they put the epidural in thinking I wouldn't be able to feel her anymore, but the epi doesn't actually stop the feeling which was good. talking about active bbies.. did anyone else find that the time their baby was the most active was the time they went into labour? Ayja and Paris were both very active night babies.. I constantly would wake at about 1 to Ayja kicking, and that's when i started having pains.. both when i had my false alarm and when i actually had her.. and for the first week or so after i had her she seemed to be awake constantly between the hours of 1am and 4-ish... it was weird.

i remember working while preggo... worked up until 38 weeks. i could have worked the last 2 but had uni stuff to do and i was too lazy maybe i couldn't have actually... standing on my feet shelving books was hell.

I don't see why not... it seems to work along the same principles as spicy foods - water makes it worse, milk settles it. Yoghert is good, too. For me, though, icecream seemed to bring it on. Gosh, I've been having heartburn nearly every day...its just horrible. I keep drinking water but it does not help. The baby is also very active, and it is getting very uncomfortable to sleep.

My hubby seems to think that I am starting to show... well I don’t think so.

Roskana - I took a while to show too but now I am wishing that it hadn't started!! I really feel huge and yesterday was my first day of full blown indigestion!! YAY (not!!) I am finding it really hard to sleep most nights too and I still have so long to go!! Thanks Lizzle......I know I should not complain....but I am the most paranoid mother to be, I keep thinking...where is the baby? does it have enough space in there? Blah blah.

I am having a growth scan done next Monday...so hopefully bub is growing fine.

I was around 20 weeks with Kiya before I started showing... and that was when I found out I was actually pregnant! This time, I started showing around 16 weeks... but people still didn't believe me how far along I was - I was at church the Sunday before Josiah was born, and someone asked me if I was 8 months yet! She nearly fell over when I told her I was due on Wednesday (which was when he was born)! I was bigger with Josiah too, but he was smaller than Kiya. Weird.

I wouldnt worry, a friend of mine worked at a garage, up till she was 39 weeks and very few people knew she was even pregnant. She was always really skinny.
As I've said in the past, I'm dreading when I cant hide my belly, as I'll get all the grannys running up grabbing at my belly

Hey, don't worry.. I was much bigger this time than i was last time - last time all the girls in my class kept telling me to "hurry up and get fat already!!" so nice of them.

I have photos of me at my 21st birthday.. 5 months pregers with Paris, and you cannot see anything at all!

It does feel weird, and you do wish that people would just notice that you are pregnant.. but just think.. hopefully your tummy will go back nicely afterwards. (I am sooo happy to report, that mine is pretty much back to normal.. just a tiny little bit of flab.. looks flat under clothes though, you other ladies can hate me if you want, lol)

This time i popped out quite quickly, then once i got to just over 30 weeks it all stopped. I was bigger this time than i was with Paris, yet Paris was my bigger baby by a whole pound.

Han didn't start showing until I was about 23 weeks, and even then it just looked like I had been drinking too much beer and eating too many pies! (Hrmmmm... I actually was prior to finding out about Han. I remember looking at my little pot belly and calling it "Speights baby" )
