i have noticed that in the past two days that ive stopped using nappy san her nappies have stopped smelling as much...going to buy some white vingear on the weekend and strip them all....

Yeah, I've heard dishwashing liquid is good for getting rid of cream that might be coating the fleece. Must do that soon.

Just bought two new nappies for Han at night as I am too lazy to strip as much as I need to. and they were Ecobubs and I've been wanting some for aaaaaages. And Hannah has gone back to being super-wetter at night. I have another way, have only done it on clean nappies but its really effective.

Dishwashing liquid! Wet you nappy, squirt o a little dishwashing liquid, scrub the fleece together, rinse then in the machine. Same with any inserts.

mazzy thats normal for them to smell a bit in the morning after wearing them all night...

Hmmmm...DD's nappies are really stinky in the morning, often when she's only wet them. I have been wondering if I need to do a strip, but it's only in the morning that they are smelly? I thought it might be because I use hemp in her night nappy - is that supposed to be smellier?
I might strip the naps anyway. I strip when the naps are clean (variation on Deb's version), do a hot wash with 1/2 cup of vinegar, then a rinse with 1/2 cup of baking soda, then an extra rinse after that.

The smell is something to do with build-up and urine reacting with that... or so I've heard. I do a strip once every month or so now, just to keep them smell free. this is one person version of stripping from TNN


do a hot wash without detergent and then do a cold (well not always cold to be honest) wash with ½ cup baking soda and ½ cup vinegar in the wash and another ½ cup vinegar in the rinse cycle, and then do another long rinse. Actually I put in less than those amounts because we have front loader, but I do put in as much as I can!

also the fuzzi bunz site has some good info re washing PUL nappies.

have you tried any teatree oil?

Rhiannon is using mummys touch nappies...but since being on peptic jr formula they have really started to smell...even after only 30mins of wearing them...and once she pees in them...oh my god.

i wash them with napisan on a cold wash then i do a rinse.
