When Ashlee was younger and I tried her on mashed banana, she too had the opposite reaction to what bananas are supposed to do! Exactly how you described, busymum. I knew it was the banana, but she's since come right with it so maybe it's the age she was at???

Its normal for bowel motions to be a bit funky when first introducing solids, all three of mine had constipation issues for the first week or two but it settled as their systems adjusted.

Banana gave Mercedes exczema to start with and the second time she had it she got hives, but her BM's seemed ok.

ETA: Banana was Maya's first food and she loved it

did you mix the banana with any milk? It was a yellow banana, not brown but definitely no trace of green. There were little black stringy bits through her nappy just like banana cake - sorry if I put you off your supper!

Don't worry, I gave Ella solids at 4-ish months as she was sleeping terribly too. Unfortunately for us, her sleeping didn't improve.

Was the banana really ripe? Like the skin was blackish / yellowish?  You should find some bits in the pooh.  Maybe she just had an upset tummy.  Keep trying

Krystiana's just over 4mos, I know that can be classed a little early but she just suddenly started waking 2-3 times/night, same as the older girls did and exactly the same age. She does like the banana, opens her mouth for more. I just was a bit concerned at how she took it through her system. I don't remember giving Ella banana until she was older.

I'd suggest a bit of pear with the banana, as it helps them digest it better. Banana can clog them up a little and pear is really gentle on wee tummies.
Benj had some greeny poos early on with starting solids too. I've started Krystiana on solids this week, just a bit of mashed banana x1 or 2 per day. But yesterday afternoon she was really unsettled (might have just been that we went out late the night before?) and this morning she had green-yellow poo (sorry!) and nappy rash.... I thought she was supposed to go brownish not greenish? Have I forgotten or is this one of those weird banana reaction thingies that I haven't heard a lot about? Ideas?
