Get a 2nd/4rd/4th opinion? You're the one spending 24/7 with her. Perhaps write a diary for when she's at her most unsettled and note what happend to kick it off, what happend during and after.

Elle was on a good dose of losec for suspected reflux but it made no difference to her so the doc said it wasn't reflux. Hannah was really placid, Krystiana is really placid, but Briona was a very unsettled, grizzly baby. She wasn't tense that I remember but she cried a lot. It turned out that she had silent reflux. She also had a strong will and unfortunately I put a lot of her unsettledness down to that and didn't pursue treatment for the reflux until it was too late. I think they think that we have to "wait and see" as things like neurological / developmental disorders can't be diagnosed until later. I'm useless at waiting. If there is something wrong that is going to impact her and our family long term I want to know! Impatient :). People just say that some babies are just grizzly...if that is true...why haven't we met any?? The "dancing" is definitely fine, my Hannah always loved music too. She only rolled or sat until 10mos, crawled for 3 weeks, learned to walk with our hands and then gave up on crawling! Walked at 12 1/2 mos. A lot of that had to do with her being a very settled baby though, wasn't much interested in moving.

I'm not concerned about your DD's lack of movement so far but I AM concerned about her being tense and grizzly a lot. Oh phew, that is all great to hear. And yeap, we've seen docs and paeds. Going to another paed next week and our request just to be sure. They agree that it is not normal for a baby to grizzle as much as she does + she is often so tense that she still holds her fists clenched much of time. They generally say that she seems fine BUT that we won't really know for sure until she is older as things like Autism Spectrum Disorders (not that she has autism) can't be diagnosed until later. My 10.5 month old isn't crawling yet and she only rolls to get a toy or something that she wants. She does all sorts of other crazy stuff! With regards to the rolling/crawling, Hannah only ever rolled a couple of times wwhen she was about 7 months and that was it. My wee man does the washing machine, but has now started to bob up and down to the beat.
He thought it was pretty cool when the dryer was going in the weekend, had a bit of a rock to that as well.

I think it is great that your bubba has found something she obviously likes.

But as Clare said, if you are unsure maybe get her checked....?

I can understand why you would be concerned but they do some really "weird" stuff. hey FionaS....

I have a friend whos little boy has just turned 1yr old and he has rocked out to music since he was about 8mths old, to start with he use to just sit there and move his shoulders then he started to make noises when anything was going..

now he will rock out to any music and any sound that he like...looks so cute and i think its great.

My 9mth old rocks whenever music is played or if I say "dance". I thought she just liked music. She has also started doing it if I turn the blender or hairdryer on + she now also does this funny humming like squealing thing and rocks then too! DH thinks she is singing. Does this sound ok to you? She smiles and interacts with me while she rocks so it's not like she is zoning out or anything.

She is a really grizzly baby...really REALLY irritable so I'm a little freaked about neurological things (also, she doesn't roll or crawl yet either).
